Best cleanses, best receipes, best cleansing book out there!

Super Cleanse is the best book I’ve ever read or used on cleansing. It is packed with truly delicious recipes for juices and cleansing foods that one can use to cleanse or to also easily incorporate into everyday living. The author makes the process fun and easy. I did the Urban Revitalizer cleanse after being overworked by ongoing business travel, depleted and hooked on coffee and sugar. It was completely amazing. I enjoyed the cleanse more than any other I have ever done because the recipes were delicious, nutritious and sustaining. I lost @ 7 pounds, got off a multiple latte a day habit and felt energized, serene and better than I had in a long time. After studying natural medicine, attending nutrition school and working at a popular vitamin company for the past 10 years, I have read many books on cleansing. This is truly the most useful, inspiring and health promoting cleansing book I have ever read. I highly recommend it for anyone that is interested in cleansing, great tasting healthy recipes or increasing their overall health!

Cleanse as you Go

After purchasing this book in June, I did the Urban detox and lost 5 pounds, gained better sleep and just felt a lot more energized. Where does the bloat go? I don’t know, but within 2 days my stomach was flatter than it had been in a long time and with no crunches!
I have to do a lot of travel for work and I brought the book along – it’s the perfect size and weight – on my next trip. I found I could actually use some of the day fasts and other plans while on the road. Instead of gaining weight due to odd hours working and being away from my own kitchen, I actually lost 3 pounds over a 10 day trip. I LOVE this book. There is variety, great tasting foods and I feel like I’m learning how to keep my body in tune. It’s not all clinical and it really is kind of fun to try out the different regimes. I know they are safe, well researched and tested and that Adina Niemerow knows what she’s doing. This is no fad approach. You can use the ideas and cleanses in this book in your real life. It’s so much easier than I thought to really learn how to live and eat a better way. And who doesn’t want to lose the bloat and unbalanced feeling you get from travel, stress and “holiday” (ok, weekend party) eating and festivities? Try this with some friends. It’s easy and really can be fun!

Definitely beneficial

Any one who says that the recipes are tasty, well, that just isn’t true. Then again, I’m comparing that to a juicy a BBQ bacon cheeseburger, fries and strawberry shake. But then, let’s be honest, it’s the BBQ bacon cheeseburger, fries and strawberry shake that got me into my current “situation” (read: fat lazy slob) in first place.
Yes, she definitely has colorful stories and everything is very insightful and seems well researched. Additionally, she understands there is no “one-size fits all” approach and thus offers several options to cleansing. So how did my cleanse work for me?
Very well. My wife and I did the 5 day Winter cleanse. It was rough. Personal will power is a key component to success and without my wife lending me some of hers, I would not have made it through. After the second day, we were weak, had violent headaches, irratible… not fun people to be around. Of course, this is because we were withdrawling. After fighting through it, we really saw a lot of beneficial effects: My skin was less oily and had a very healthy hue, my mind was very focused (I could wake up in the morning and understand astrophysics), I lost 15 pounds in 5 days.
The drawbacks to the cleanse: The withdrawl is terrible but a very necessary step, the taste of some of those juices is god-awful (why must good tasting food be so bad for you?), I was very fatigued, even after the withdrawl — though not mentally as stated above.
My wife and I did this cleanse because we wanted to get a jumpstart on a healthy lifestyle after a gluttonous holiday season. I mentioned I lost 15 pounds, I put five back almost immediately and have since (with healthy eating and exercise) lost that 5 and then some all in about a month.
Why only 4 stars if the book did what it said? Simple, I’m very hard to impress.

I can’t say enough good things about Adina, and the cleanses she advocates, and this book. Since doing my first cleanse with her two years ago, I’ve continued to cleanse a few times a year. Each time I feel amazing and in fact, I love her recipes so much I’ve incorporated many of them into my routine.
Adina’s cleanses are great for so many reasons:
1) she gives you many options to find the right cleanse for you
2) they are nutrient dense so you are not starving yourself
3) her recipes are delicious!
My experience with her cleanses has been fantastic. I was very curious about cleansing but weary of something like the master cleanse because it seems like you’re just starving yourself. Adina’s cleanses are chocked full of nutrients and your body thanks you very quickly for it. I’ve done her Urban Revitalizer cleanse 2x now, her Green Buzz cleanse 2x, and have settled on a hybrid of the two as best for me. They first day or two can be tough, but by day three I feel fantastic, my skin looks fantastic, and I find them surprisingly easy to stick to, even when I’m doing it all on my own and doing all the prep myself. Once you get as far as day one or two, you’re far enough in, I find it pretty easy to stick to it.
Even if you’re not looking to cleanse, this book is full of so many fabulous recipes. Adina’s liver cleansing smoothie (grapefruit, pear, flax oil, and cayenne pepper) has become breakfast for me at least once a week. Green juices are a treat I make as often as I can. Her kale salad, apple porridge, green soups, and nori wraps are all staples in my diet and hits with even my most carnivorous friends.
Can’t recommend this book highly enough.

Book is well written, clear and easy to follow instructions. The story preceding the diets are interesting and relevant to the book. The recipes are simple to follow. The variety of diets offerred are likely to suit most everyone.

this book is different than skinny bitch, it tells you “how to” attain the goals you want to reach. I always wanted to do a detoxing diet, this book made it easy for me. Thanks to Adina.
Mislead With All The Postive Ratings

Like the title says…. I really felt mislead with all the positive ratings. I think the book is great for beginners who know nothing about detoxing. However, I never got around to actually trying the recipes, because a lot of the recipes called for not-so common ingredients that one would probably have to go to a health food store. Now, I’m not opposed to that, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting/looking for for my first attempt at detoxing (also read: the recipes just didn’t look enjoyable). Overall, I just didn’t care for the author and her recipes.
I did originally end up ordering it from Amazon, but I never received my order, so I ended up purchasing it from a local bookstore. I wish I would have perused through it first, because I ended up returning it for, “The New Detox Diet: The Complete Guide for Lifelong Vitality With Recipes, Menus, and Detox Plans”. It was definitely more of what I was looking for.
I realize I didn’t give much information on the book (wish I could, but I no longer have it in my possession); however, my best suggestion for this book is to go to the bookstore and look through it first. Good luck.

The cleanse that changed our lives

My husband and I did the Laughing Buddha cleanse terrified of not consuming dairy, meat, caffeine or alcohol for 5 days — most of which were part of our daily intake of food for the 40 years we’ve been on Earth.
The cons: It takes a lot of time to shop, prep, cook and clean up. But you can make a bunch of one menu item and eat it over several days, or choose a more liquid-based cleanse.
The pros: The book is easy to follow and understand. The cleanse changed the way we look at food and removed mental obstacles.

Complete reference, a must for your library

I have had this book for a few weeks now and have to say it is the most complete book i have seen. it is fantastic if you are a first time cleanser or want a quick jump start. though if you have done cleanses before and are looking for something comprehensive, this book will give you all the info you will ever need so says my cleanse friends. Buy it, you will not be disapointed. A must for your library!

I liked this book because it was easy to read, fun and the recipes are great. I like that Niemerow writes about the spiritual side of cleansing. It is true after doing the Urban Revitalizer I did look and feel different and it did change the way I eat. You can have fun with the recipes and mix them up and make your own cleanse there are many tasty recipes to choose from. I actually wrote her an email and she personally gave me suggestions!

I had been wanting to do one of Adina’s cleanses she does out of Cafe Gratitude nearby, but they are pretty expensive, so when this book came out I was really excited. A friend and I did the Three Day Face Lift Cleanse. There was plenty of food and you eat often, so we were never hungry, and by the end we felt absolutely amazing. We had so much energy and were couldn’t believe what three days of eating differently can do.
There are different lengths and levels of cleanses to choose from, ranging from an all vegetarian food cleanse for people easing into that, to completely juice cleanses. And there is a lot of info and support on what to do along with the cleanse, easing out, etc.
This is a great little book with a lot of info and recipes. I would definitely recommend this to a friend
