You can get all this information for nothing online, and without the personal bias
By K. Swanson
The three stars are for this book, not the cleanse, which is five-star all the way!
I am on day 18 of the master cleanse, so I think my opinions on this book have some validity. I have in fact been drinking less than half the recommended daily amount of the stuff, and as long as I get enough prana/chi from fresh air and drink tons of pure water, I never need more than that. I feel wonderful and will keep doing it until my body tells me it’s time to stop. My body never lies to me.
Having been vegetarian for 20 years this summer, and organic-only much of that time, I am no stranger to fasting, cleansing and detoxing. For those who are, this is a fair introduction to going for maximum internal cleanliness…but there are many much better books on the subject (Bernard Jensen is a good start). As well, Woloshyn puts far too much extraneous personal stuff about his life in the book; it’s really about him more than the cleanse.
The cleanse is largely about eliminating pointless things from your system, and I think this book is also somewhat pointless, considering that all of this info and about a hundred times more is available for free at various websites, most specifically themastercleanse in dot-org-land. That site has endless testimonies and much more info in general than this book. And it’s free.
Woloshyn also doesn’t give enough credit to Stanley Burroughs, the real mastermind behind the master cleanse. Burroughs wrote a very simple little booklet to sell as cheaply as possible. His goal was true health for all, not personal aggrandizement or profit. Woloshyn merely does what so many modern health writers are doing: take a proven old idea and market it under his name.
All you really need to know is this: you MUST use organic lemons and grade B maple syrup (wherein live the essential nutrients; buy it bulk online and save a ton over Whole Food’s price).
Above all, use as much cayenne as you can stand. I use about ten to twelve times the recommended amount, but my body loves the stuff (endless thanks to Jethro Kloss for that idea, in his incomparable Back To Eden). Perhaps that’s why I need so little every day: the peppers really get the body humming.
And then drink at least 12 glasses of water a day.
And really, that’s it.
Enemas are highly recommended to take the cleanse to another level. But even then, they are not essential, though very wise. Making sure everything is organic and going into top-grade filtered water is. That, and lots of sun and fresh air. One quickly learns that that’s where the real source of life lies. Stepping into air conditioning and feeling one’s blood sugar plummet is a strong lesson about our lifeless modern environment. I’ve ingested maybe a few thousand calories in the last 18 days. How could I be feeling so healthy and alive if we really needed 2,000 calories a day? Long walks in the woods (alone or with a happy dog!) also aid immensely in grounding the spirit and bringing much joy. Nature never looks and feels so sparkling as when one is cleansing.
For those who need a book in their hands to guide them, this is ok. But the original booklet works just as well, and the website I mentioned covers all that’s in this book, and so much more.
Not a bad book…but hardly essential. And when the whole point of cleansing is stripping away all but the essentials, why buy something that’s hardly essential?

Popular and simple detoxification method
By T. Szefler
This lemonade-like blend of water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper is actually a rather popular and simple detoxification method. I’ve been using it for 12 days and the results are great. Of course I lost a lot of weight but that is not mine concerns. The important think is that I feel rejuvenated light and empowered. I don’t only feel great physically but my mood has also improved tremendously. Staying on the program requires some will power during the first two or three days. After that it is not that difficult. I didn’t feel that hungry any more, but I missed the pleasure of enjoying a meal, especially at the dinner time…
As much as I like this book as a good source for general body cleansing, I find it a little one-sided. There are a number of other good cleansing methods that concentrate on specific body parts such as liver, kidneys, bones and joints, etc. A very good reference for these cleansing programs is a book titled Can We Live 150. In the other book titled Cure the Incurable the author focuses on home-made remedies designed to not only cleanse your body but to also fight some incurable diseases such as diabetes, cancer, etc.

Requires some filtering, but ultimately decent.

I had been thinking about detoxing for a few months now and found out about the Master Cleanse on a web forum I participate in. This book provides all the steps you need to do the cleanse, some very helpful information from the experience of the author, and then a lot of one sided extra information I could’ve done without. The first 50 pages are really just the author talking about his career, and what foods he believes people shouldn’t eat because of the toxins they leave behind. It’s just my opinion that people who want to Master Cleanse already have an idea of why they need to detox. Although he did credit Steven Burroughs for his original work, I felt the author wrote in such a way (in the beginning)that would lead people to believe he’s had a great deal to do with the development of these fabulous ideas like the Master Cleanse and Color therapy. I’m also a little skeptical of his concrete understanding of medical conditions, particularly his claim that the Lemonade Diet and some other adjuntives completely cured his wife’s cervical cancer. I only purchased the book because I cound’t find the original Master Cleanser by Steven Burroughs. I’m still going to order it. Ultimately, this is a very useful book because it tells you how to get the most out of your cleanse, what to expect, and what to do if you’re not seeing the results you desire. If you’re like me and you really want to find out how to Cleanse, skip the first fifty pages and get to the good nitty gritty.

This book was not helpful. It was mainly an autobiography of the author and what the master cleanse did for him and his practice. It should have been a book about the technical aspect of the cleanse, but it was more a book about the authors belief’s. Don’t make the mistake I made, buy the original book, by the man who made up the diet. The author freeloaded off someone’s ideas and he made money doing it. The lemonade diet or master cleanse was a very good experience for me, but the book was not.

I am the last person to fall for some fad diet, but looked into master cleanse because I was looking for a detoxification that was natural and had heard great things from my sister who had done it. I have yet to do the cleanse, but I attribute it to this book’s detail and warnings about being serious about the cleanse from day 1 to day 10. When I know I am ready to commit the full 10 day minimum I will start it. And because of this book I feel I will be able to do it right with my eyes wide open.
Great guide for cleansing and follow-up diet & lifestyle

If you have not heard of the Master Cleanse, it is a very popular way of fasting/cleansing created in 1941 by the author’s mentor, Stanley Burroughs. The author has spent a total of 1000 days on the cleanse since 1979 and has successfully guided others on it. The healing benefits are remarkable and include better sleep, mental clarity, weight loss, freedom from addictions, hair no longer falling out, more energy, and much more.
The cleanse consists of four items. Lemon juice is used because lemons contain many minerals, as well as acids that help break down calcified substances in the body such as kidney stones and gallstones. Lemons are also alkalizing. Maple syrup is recommended above all other sweeteners because it is rich in minerals and vitamins. (Agave was, if used more than 10 days, found to cause demineralization!) Cayenne pepper is added because it purifies and thins the blood. (The book also states that when cayenne is placed under the tongue in tincture or powder form, it can even stop a heart attack!) Of course, water is also used in the drink, and the author discusses the various forms of water (distilled, reverse osmosis, etc.)
In this complete guide to the Master Cleanse, we are told what to expect during the cleanse and reminded that a healing crisis is good–it means your body is doing its cleansing thing. The author assures women who are pregnant or nursing that it is safe for them to also participate in a 7 to 10 day cleanse. Children and the elderly too! Even people who have had various organs removed.
We are also told how to end the cleanse, and how to eat to maintain the benefits. (Eat raw as much as possible, and alkaline; avoid processed foods, go organic, etc.) There is a list of 21 things to do to enhance your results, as well as 17 common mistakes to avoid (ex: you should drink the juice within 10 minutes to get most of the nutrients). The author also gives health tips for your lifestyle after cleansing, such as starting out every morning with some fresh squeezed lemon juice, and experimenting with mono diets, juice diets, water fasting, parasite cleanses and liver/gallbladder flushes. There is a discussion of the advantages of vegetarianism, the importance of staying alkaline, and more in-depth talk about water.
The last part of the book discusses emotions and emotional eating. “There is not enough food on the planet to make your feelings and emotions go away,” he tells us. “Eventually, the gnawing away of some past experience or pain that just won’t dissipate may suddenly break through into your conscious awareness and motivate you to step up and make a change.” We are also given tips and info on the importance of filtering the bath or shower water, as well as having nontoxic skin care products and even clothing.
This is a great, easy-to-read little book, a complete guide for cleansing inside and out, and staying clean. Even though I have read hundreds of books on health and nutrition, I found many new little useful tidbits such as suppressing the appetite with essential oils of lemon, ginger, peppermint and spearmint and how to make a concentrate for when you are traveling.

This is one of the books maybe only a few that you can get your hands on read it and follow the instructions that works. I have used the information in this book and followed it to the max and it did wonders for me. Very informative book I recommended to my family and friends and they also gain outstanding results and used it to maximum success.
Great Book, really works

This diet realy works and is surprisingly “painless” for a big eater like me, I was amazed at the results, although I have almost 40 lbs to lose, it gave me good head start. You MUST follow the directions religously though, it’s the only way it will work
The Master Cleanse – I Am Doing It!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I studied this book for a couple of weeks before starting the Master Cleanse, aka The Lemonade Diet, myself. I am now on Day 5 and I am certain I will complete the process successfully. I am very glad to have read this wonderful, complete resource before beginning. It has answered all my questions and all the potential issues that may arise and has given me a great desire to see it through. I attribute my ability to stay on the cleanse for at least 10 days (and perhaps I will go for 20!) to a complete preparation beforehand, which also includes Peter Glickman’s book on the cleanse and Stanley Burrough’s original book.
I highly recommend doing this cleanse. I used to feel so tired all the time, sluggish and heavy and worn out every day, but once I got to Day 3 of my Lemonade Diet, I no longer desperately wanted to crash in the afternoons and I have so much more clarity and energy and can easily work and focus and enjoy life the entire day from early morning to late at night!!!

The Complete Master Cleanse offers down-to-earth guidance, background information, health tips and much more. For a good price, this book has it all in one place for the reader to use, as needed. Yes, you could locate all this information on the internet, or in a variety of health and wellness books. If you research The Master Cleanse on the internet, you’ll locate a variety of sources all saying different things, in a myriad of manners, some great, some okay and some repugnant. However, if you have the book, it’s all in one place and delivered in a non-assuming manner. I didn’t feel that the author was grandstanding or talking from a pedestal; what a relief that was. I didn’t have the feeling this was a “cure all” approach, just a way to be healthier, in a reasonable way.
The Complete Master Cleanse will save you time, and keep you motivated to understand how to be healthy and the reasonable steps required. Mr. Woloshyn gives acknowledgment to his teacher, and the creator of the Lemonade Diet, Stanley Burroughs. You may also want to read about Mr. Burroughs’ very interesting life, some of which resulted from his life-long pursue of helping people and promoting his diet as a means to cleanse ones system and regain energy and health. Mr. Burroughs was also an advocate of colored light therapy, deep massage, reflexology and other Nature Cure methods, which Tom Woloshyn includes in his book.
I appreciated the clean, organized manner of writing, and editing. I found the broad-based approach to natural health information, physical, mental and spiritual well-being, reasonable not soap-boxy. I found this great little book worthwhile and … no time-chewing here.
Well rounded holistic book!

Tom Woloshyn’s book is informative; went beyond the Master Cleanse detox program; the author also included a chapter on color therapy and affirmations which I found useful and informative as it enhances my focus on wellness. I found about this book on a messge support forum http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/mb/lemonade that has great information and a supportive group for those who are on the Master Cleanse diet.
Best book to learn how to do and how to improve on the Master Cleanser

Get this book if you want to understand how to be successful doing the Master cleanse. I would get the original book by Stanley Burrows also.. but this is a must .. there is so much not in the actual Burrows book that this book tells you. It is a must. I know the author personally and he is the one expert who has all the answers…

The complete master cleanse
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This was an excellent book, easy to read and follow. It is also just as important to know how to come off the diet and not just jump right in or you will be doubled over in pain. This book explains that as well. The diet is not that difficult. The most important thing to remember is to always have the mixture with you ready to go even if you are just going out on errands. When hunger hits, the “lemonade” quenches it quickly. JD
