Have you got an acne problem? Do you hate going out and meeting humans because of acne spots? There are millions of acne suffers all over the world and there are no exclusions to who it acne affects. It is not just the skin condition that cause the problem but it likewise cause aroused difficulties and lack of selfassurance because it is so visible. Teenagers tend to be the worst affected group, just when they have sufficient troubles having to cope with hormonal in-balances and starting to date. Until now the only way to treat acne was with over the counter treatments or medications and therapy from dermatologists or doctors. Now due to advancements in engineering science it is possible to buy a portable blue light acne lamp and carry out blue light treatment on your acne at home. Blue light therapy applied to be only available in dermatologist clinics with professional instrumentation but the portable acne lamps have changed that. The FDA has approved these portable gimmicks for home use on mid to moderate acne. The acne lamps work in the violet light range 405-420 NM. Studies have shown that blue light in this wavelength range targets to kill propionibacterium acne (the bacteria related with acne) whilst being safe to use fabricating no destructive ultra violet rays. It is easy and quick to use these lamps at home only necessitating 15 minutes treatment a day for mild to moderate acne. Types of lamps available are varied and range from fluorescent type units to others using the latest LED engineering or just and LED bulb to fit a frequent home lamp fitting. Prices are also lowcost from around $50 for the bulbs and amongst $200 to $400 for the acne lamps. Examples of available lamps: BlueMD – Dermatologist-grade Blue Light Lamp - FDA Approved NatureBright Clarity Skin Rejuvenation Light - Comfortable home use Acne Blue Light Therapy 38 LED Bulb - 38 Bright LED lights If you have not yet found a solution to your acne and want something quick and easy to use at home, then perchance blue light treatment with a blue light acne lamp is worth considering. |

Well… It didn’t work for me.
By I. Seo
Before I start, I find it odd that most reviewers that have written a review for this product
have never written a review before although they claim they have used so many other acne treatment products including those hand held lamps over many years…
And they don’t even have “Amazon Verified Purchase” mark on their reviews…
Anyway, I purchased this product in August, used it for about 2 months, and returned it because it didn’t work for me. But the “didn’t work” part is not what I’m trying to share with you.
First of all, the product comes with protective goggles because the light is VERY intense and your eyes need to be protected. It really hurt my eyes even though I added some more protection to the goggles as the light is so intense and you have to put your face (or body part) DIRECTLY under the lamp no more than 6 inches away (The product comes with the manual). After each session, my eyes were red and watery and it was pretty painful.
I couldn’t actually cover my forehead because it hurt my eyes way too much.
But, it might just be me as my eyes are a little light sensitive.
Also, it says 30 minutes per day and about 5 times a week if your acne condition is severe. You might think this is not much, but the lamp is actually not that big and your face or body part should be directly under it. You will see what I mean when you get the product. The applied part feels tingled, and gets warm. This means, unless you have a ridiculously small face, you need to do this at least 4 times to cover your entire face (Unless it’s just chicks, forehead, or chin).
So thats… 30 minutes X 4 = 2 hours.
Although you can adjust the height of the lamp and the head of the lamp and all that to make it as comfortable as possible, it is not as easy as it sounds.
You have to put your face directly under very intense light that you need protective goggles. And you cannot be more than 6 inches away. You cannot see anything, and you cannot do anything other than listening to music. It is VERY boring. One reviewer said it was relaxing just listening to music and feeling his skin getting better etc etc. Well… He mustve had a very mild acne problem over a very small area if he needed only 1 session… Or he’s never used the product.
2 hours a day is a HUGE dedication. Also I didn’t like the tingling sensation when I was using the lamp.
And THE LAMP GETS SOOOO RIDICULOUSLY HOT. You actually smell something burning for a few weeks. I asked Trophyskin about it they said it’s normal.
Anyway, all I want to say is that using this product can be VERY tedious and requires a huge commitment.
I couldn’t find out about any of these because they weren’t in the reviews or the description. Everyone was just talking about how well it works and stuff.
Using this product was very very tiring and barely bearable for me.
On top of that, It didn’t work for me, so I wasted many many hours on top of the shipping cost.
SO WHY AM I GIVING IT 3 STARS INSTEAD OF 1???
Good point.
It’s because Trophyskin was very responsive to me, and when I had a problem with the product (The joint was broken when I got it) they had fedex pick it up and sent a new one right away.
Also, although it says 30 days on amazon, they still refunded after about 50 days for me.
My suggestion: Like I said over and over, using this product is VERY time consuming. Bear in mind that you need at least 4 sessions to cover the entire face and you cannot do ANYTHING other than listening to music. NO YOU CANT SLEEP IF IT ACCIDENTALLY FALLS ON YOUR FACE you gona get some serious burn and even if it doesn’t you just can’t. The light is way too intense.
But if you can spend some time on this, definitely try it. IT didn’t work for me, but it did for other people apparently. If it doesn’t work for you, you can always return it.
I’m going to try “NatureBright Clarity Skin Rejuvenation Light” now. It says I need only 15 minutes a day and it looks like one session covers the entire face. I have Amazon prime but I still had to pay $20 for shipping which is ridiculous… hopefully this will work better for me.

Purchased for my 16 year old daughter – It is working wonders!
By Donald A. Pelham
My daughter is now 16, but has been suffering from fairly severe acne since she was 13. We started out with the usual stuff from the drugstore, but quickly realized that she needed something stronger. We went to the dermatologist and ever since, she has been on some sort of antibiotics. She has even been on Accutane for a while.
About a year and a half ago we decided to try blue light treatments at the local medspa here in town. She went twice a week for 6 weeks, and we saw results within just a few treatments. Only problem was we that it was a huge drain on our family schedule to take her there and back so many times. Also, we ended up spending almost $3000 by the end of her six week sessions.
That is when we discovered home blue light therapy and decided to try the Blue MD. This device has just been amazing on so many fronts. Her acne came back a few months after her last treatment at the medspa, so we really saw the Blue MD work before our eyes. It reduced her acne within 4 uses and pretty much eliminated it within 10 uses. She started out using it every day, and now uses it 2 or 3 times per week. Best of all, she has been able to back off of most of her medication, and we are hopeful that she will be able to eliminate all the meds in the near future. As any parent can attest to, kids are very image conscious these days. The change in her confidence and self esteem has just been wonderful to see. She doesn’t hide her face with her hair anymore, and doesnt wear nearly as much makeup.

Much needed in a house full of girls!
By S. Mazhar
Living in a house with three other girls (one of them being a former Ms. Kuwait), skin appearance falls under the category of Top 3 daily priorities because I have quite a bit to live up to. I had terrible acne growing up, terrible as in I was called “pineapple face” all throughout high school – my skin looked and felt like the surface of a pineapple and my hair was a completely different story. The aftermath of this acne, once tamed, was unattractively sized pores, blemishes, red spots, and of course, horribly toned skin. I looked way beyond my years chronilogically, and what person looking like that is going to have any friends?
I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me birth control (which made me gain weight), Finacea (which is said to cause growth of hair on frequently used spots), and Tazorac (which if you think peeling because of sunburn is bad, you haven’t seen/felt anything). My skin was so dry, moisturizer couldnt help; I straight up had to use Vitamin E oil to do the job. Sure my lesions were gone, but the size of my pores was still the same. I couldn’t find anything to give me that evenly toned, flawless face look I wanted, nor could the dermatologist suggest or recommend anything for me. I was never the type of girl to carry makeup with me and reapply during the day, but this problem gave me no choice. There is nothing more embarrassing than a caked face and hugging someone only to leave a cafe colored streak on their cashmere :-
I came across Trophy Skin through word of mouth, read and researched it, and thought to myself that if I’ve already spent hundreds beyond hundreds of dollars at the doctor, I might as well give this a try. I would lay underneath this lamp, at night or during the day, 3 times a week, 20 minutes each sitting and only feel slight tingling where the heaviest acne on my face was. Not that it’s a long time, but it gives you an excuse to take 20 minutes to yourself to relax after a long day; listen to music, talk on the phone, or just take a quick power nap as your skin is being beautified, hands free. Where can you go these days to benefit out of relaxing?
My skin looks 150 times much better, I’ve stopped going to any spas to get suffocating skin polishing procedures in attempt to get an even skin tone, I’ve stopped using any medical creams, and stopped taking pills. My pores have become *significantly* smaller, my skin feels so moisturized all the time, best of all: my skin tone is so even that I am entirely comfortable with stepping out of the house with just a dab of tinted moisturizer all over my face.
I went from spending hundreds of dollars on skin medications and makeup to almost nothing but tinted moisturizer.

Excellent Product!!!
Great product.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have had moderate acne for ten years, and could not find anything to get rid of it without making my skin dry or irritated. I have been on antibiotics in the past, which worked but are not good to be on long-term. This lamp is so great! I have been using it once a day, and it is the most relaxing thing ever! Who would think it also clears up your skin! I have never previously been able to go makeup free in the winter, but now I can and do!
Works on bacne too!

As a home inspector, I frequently enter attic spaces and crawlspaces under less than ideal conditions. I noticed a few years ago that my arms and back would break out especially during summer time after encountering old insulation in attic spaces and creosate from fireplaces.
My doctor said it was folliculitis and prescribed an antibotic which helped but only for two weeks. It then came back with a vengance. I then went to a Dermatologist who prescribed antibiotic creams (such as Bactroban). These were even less effective and expensive (a small tube cost $50!). For the next year, I then tried several “home” remedies including tea tree oil, tumeric powder, vitamin suppliments and peroxide creams. I even tried the Zeno device but it only zapped one pimple at a time, you have to hold it on the pimple which is hard when it’s on your back and you have to keep buying cartridges for it; very expensive. I purchased the Trophy Skin light 6 months ago and carefully kept the shipping box with every intention of sending it back if it did not work.
I started out using it five days a week, 20 minutes each session, for three weeks. I couldn’t believe it! My back and arms cleared up! I now just use it two or three times a week, 10 minutes each session. This product really does work. I think it’s designed for facial acne but it really cleared up my back and arms. Well worth the cost considering all the money I spent with the dermatologist. I can now take off my shirt at the beach and not be embarrassed. I have my self-confidence back. This product is really great! Thank you Trophy Skin!
Good Investment!

I have severe adult acne, and have purchased many products with no sign of satisfaction in sight. I decided to buy this product, and have been using it for about 7 weeks.
I won’t lie. This has not totally cleared my acne but I think it has helped in minimizing those zits in much less time than usual.
I’ve also noticed that it tends to dry out my combination skin, but this might be only me.
I’m making this post as realistic as possible. So, for those of you who have a “true” acne issue, it may not be the end solution, but it can definitively accelerate the healing process.
Great Product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this product in July ’09 after a horrible episode of adult onset acne. I couldn’t tame the acne breakouts at all even with trips to the dermatologist. After a week of using this product daily, my facial acne began to disappear. I combine the blue light treatment with professional skin care and it really works.
I now use the blue light treatment 3 times a week at minium to keep acne at bay. I am pleased and would recommend this product.
Good for my acne so far
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This thing is pretty awesome, easy to use and works well on my acne. I’ve been using it for a few months with some consistency and I’m impressed with how quickly my breakouts go away.
Actually works!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I thought it was worth leaving feedback given the cost of the device would stop alot of people from trying it out. I’ve had acne issues since I was a teenager and in my mid-30s it gets old. I’ve used numerous treatments both prescription and OTC that any person with acne problems will be familar with:
Accutane- actually used it twice, good response both times however acne came back after a year. Chronically chapped lips from it.
Retina A- made my acne worse.
antiobiotics- temporary relief for a year.
Proactive- lessens outbreak, gets expensive.
I decided to try this out after a good article put out by the AAD (American Academy of Dermatology). The site states the evidence for the efficacy of blue light treatment for acne is limited by the small size and number trials, however at least half of people respond to the treatment. The link to the article is at:
[..]
After ordering the light I received it in 3 business days. Like another poster noted the joint connecting my light to the plastic stand was loose and wobbly on arrival. I did the treatment for 20 minutes/daily before contacting the seller about the issue on the 3rd day. To their credit they shipped out a replacement light and arranged FedEx doorstep pickup for the defective unit at no additional cost to me.
For the three days I used the light I focused on my chin and jawline since that’s where I tend to breakout. I noticed a definite improvement by the third day since I was having daily breakouts in that region. The number and size of the acne was noticeably smaller.
Whether this light will keep being effective over the long-haul I don’t know as alot of treatments seem to lose effectiveness over time. If it does I will update my review. Still I am very pleased that the light actually works and while $200 may seem expensive, it’s not alot if you ask many people with acne IF the treatment works and your not being dinged with recurrent costs with most medications.
Great for when I am traveling and partying
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I travel a lot for business (and pleasure), and usually go out to bars and clubs while I am in all these different cities. Normally when I party when I am at home my acne does not flare up because I can control which foods I eat, have more time to relax and recover, and have all my facial products with me. But when I’m traveling, I am normally eating more oily/fatty foods and eating out more. I also cannot bring all my facial stuff with me, so after a few days my acne really starts to bother me. The BLuemd is compact enough and folds down good, so I can get it in my suitcase without it taking up much room. Then when I get to my hotel I just bust it out and set it up on the bedside table, pull out the goggles, and I am good to go. I usually just take a nap after work and lay under the blue light, then about 30 minutes later get up and wash my face and I’m ready to go for the night.
Well… It didn’t work for me.

Really awesome acne lamp
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This thing really works, I’ve tried a couple of handheld acne lamps and they were too small and totally not powerful enough. With this it actually tingles and makes my acne go away after a few sessions!
Very pleased so far….
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have been using this product for 10 days now. I have had a noticable improvement in my acne already. I am very excited to see the final results!! I will say that at first I have found it to be a time commitment, I have moderate acne primarily on my cheek/jaw/neck. So I have had to do 2-3 sessions to get full coverage of the problem areas. If I am time crunched I will break up my session times throughout the days. What works well for me is to use it daily on a different are so I’m not laying there for as long. I have a notepad close by to track my usage. Prior to getting this product I had tried multiple creams/cleansers/diets with no avail. I was never able to leave without makeup and would avoid going out when I could. My skin was getting me down. I ordered this with the expectation of having to return it. But I will definitely not be returning it! This product has greatly exceeded my expectations and is absolutely worth every minute I spend with it. I feel a warming sensation and slight tingle while using it. I lay in my bed with the lamp on a side table close by, I set a timer on my phone to go off as I find I quite often doze off. The base is sturdy and I am not worried about it falling and burning my face as another reviewer posted. Overall great product, I will update as time goes and increase my rating when I’m all clear!!! With the 30day guarantee you have nothing to lose.
Finally the skin I’ve always dreamed of
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I wish I had this product when I was younger, but after 20 years of experiencing all types of acne, I now have glowing healthy looking skin. So far, I have used Blue MD for a week (20 minutes a day)and I can see that the product is worth every penny. It’s much better than the hand held devices(who can hold it for 20 minutes?). With Blue MD, I can put on my goggles (included) and lay under the light for 20-30 minutes. I love how the head of the light can swivel to accomodate my position. Afterwards, all I needed was a little moisturizer. As a result, my pores are smaller and the texture of my skin is smoother. As explained on the company’s website, the blue light kills the P.acnes bacteria. All I can say is bravo for this product.
High Hopes Dashed
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
After reading the great reviews of this product, I was really hoping for some great results, but after four weeks, I have seen no positive changes. I have had acne problems for the past 12 years and I have tried everything, anti-biotics, no sugar & carb diets, holistic vitamins and face toners, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, ALA etc… without ever seeing a difference. And now I have one more method to add to my list.
I used the product as instructed, every day, sometimes twice a day. Since you have to use it for 20-30 min on each spot, holding the device no less than 6 inches from your face, I found I had to do at least an hour total to get my cheeks, chin and forehead. Which needless to say is VERY time consuming and a little boring since it is hard to do much else while you are holding a huge light, wearing goggles, and being blasted with the very bright light. All this would have been worth it though, if it had helped, but it didn’t.
After four weeks my skin is just as bad as when I started. Maybe this product works for other people, and maybe it will work for you, but it didn’t help me at all. I am in the process of returning the light, hopefully there wont be any problems there!

I am not one to leave a review, but I felt more then compelled to on this product.
My skin has been a true rollercoaster. I used prescriptions and they did the job well, but with life changes I decided to no longer take them……and so the changes came. From whiteheads and a cystic pimple here and there to recently, where scars, red marks and more took over what once was nearly flawless skin.
I purchased everything under the sun; salicylic acid, sulfur, benz. peroxide, supplements, heat products(ZENO), and more. The digression of my skin took me into a state where I truly did not want to leave my house.
This has all changed with BlueMD. In the 5 days I have been using this product I have noticed changes that may be minute to others but is huge for those of us struggling with acne. The redness and size has gone down by over 50% after just a handful of treatments. The marks are still there from past acne, but I am hopeful that with time they too will reduce.
To know that with so many treatments it may inhibit breakouts from occurring at all makes me excited for my skin’s future and the future of my confidence.
Thank you for a great product!
good customer service

I bought the light about 5 months ago. I used it for 2 weeks and then it broke. After using it for 2 weeks I did think my skin was smoother, but I got some bad pimples along my nose, I think from wearing the goggles. Anyway, once it broke I asked them to send me a new bulb and they did, for free. In the meantime I was out of the country and unable to use the light or see if the new bulb would work. When I came back to the states and tried the new bulb it didn’t work. So the company agreed to send me a new device. Thus my 5 stars are based on customer service. So far I haven’t had a chance to really use it, so I can’t really judge how well it works. Unfortunately, or fortunately, my acne has cleared up since I bought it (thank you benzoyl peroxide and salon facials), but I plan to pass the device on to my sister and see if it works for her. Will update if I see results.
finally, FINALLY real help!!!

I am not a teen…in fact I’m a 53 year old woman, and while having incredibly great skin all my life (even during adolescence) starting going through hell about 4 years ago. It had gotten to the point that I had maybe 2-3 ok days per month, and the rest of the time, a breakout that would usually last 2 days, would fester for 3-4 weeks. I’ve tried it all, but something about this blue-light therapy rang true to me, so without even trying it at a dermatologists office first, I bought one. Within 1 week I saw a difference. Now, 4 weeks later, and having gone through the crucial week of the month, I can honestly say that this is one of the best purchases I’ve EVER made here. My only concern is that my cat always wants to snuggle up to me when this is on and I don’t have goggles for her and am worried that her eyes might be damaged. I keep shooing her away, but the light doesn’t seem to scare her.
I also agree with one of the other reviewers that this is a bit top heavy and easy to knock over…I may try mounting it onto a heavier base as well.
LOVE this product!!!
