If you want to improve your cardio vascular function and overall fitness but can’t abide the idea of running or circuit training then swimming cardio workouts may be just the thing you’re looking for. The vantage of swimming cardio workouts is that closely everyone has a nearby public indoor swimming pool and you may use it in all weather. Check whether they have school parties booked in and stay clear from those times. Alternatively join a health club with a pool for a degree of privacy. Swimming cardio workouts begin out fast, ordinarily for 20 to 30 minutes then slow down more or less for more outstanding fat burning. For variety, you may swim underwater or use a kickboard. A kickboard allows you to keep your head above water while using your legs for propulsion. If you’re not going to use a kickboard all the time then you’ll probably need a pair of goggles as an hour in the water without them will leave your eyes sentiment in truth sore and you won’t be competent to build up the speed required for a proper workout if you don’t put your face in the water. Swimming cardio workouts are great all round exercise as they work almost all the muscles in your body. Breaststroke, backstroke and front creep focus on the muscles in your abdomen, bottom, arms and thighs. Before you start, check with your doctor that such exercise is suitable for your state of health and always do a few warm up lengths and gradually increase the length of time that you do the fast lengths, particularly if you are a beginner at this sort of exercise. The following is one of the best swimming cardio workouts for beginners. Start your workout by doing 5 to 8 x 50 metre lengths alternating amidst crawl, backstroke and breaststroke, at a warm up pace. Follow this with 2 x 50 metre remainder exercises, scissor kicking with your arms in front then the same on the right side and on the left side. Pause for 30 seconds then carry on with 4 x 50 metres backstroke, 4 x 50 metres breaststroke and 10 x 50 metres front crawl. Pause for one minute then start out your cool down for 3 x 50 metres of any stroke you like. Here’s another workout: 5 x 50 metres sprint (any stroke) To use up your hour’s workout swim at a normal pace for 15 to 30 minutes without stopping. If you follow one of these swimming cardio workouts, your heart will love you for it and your overall fitness will improve rapidly. |

Great product, strips are easy to use… technique is important
By S. A. Boorstein
This is a great product. I have had consistent results. Reviews that I see for this product which talk about readings being inaccurate may be due to poor technique in many cases. For example, your finger has to be clean and grease free. You also should not be squeezing the blood sample out of your finger as this changes the composition of the blood sample your are squeezing out and can provide inaccurate results (eg. you are also squeezing out oils on the surface of your finger, etc.) You also need enough blood sample to analyze (albiet it is still very small… just a drop). The technique that I use, and I think is easiest, is applying the blood sample directly to the test strip rather than using the enclosed capillary tube, which I find isn’t always easy to use.

Good Tests 4 stars
By Karen M. Van Bussum
We’ve had good luck. I know I’ve been told by my doctor that the cardio check may be a couple points different but not enough to be a problem. I had my total cholesterol checked by the doctor and it was 235, a bit high went on a strict diet and 1 month later, used cardio check and my reading was 222. I believe it probably was quite close. My husband has a greater problem and we’ve checked his right after the doctor and it’s quite close actually.

old/close to experation date
By tom
i ordered 2 boxes…enough for 6 months of testing. however they sent me 2 boxes…total 6 strips…that expire in 90 days! one box order would have been ok but now after 3 tests at 1 per month, the other box will be expired and the unit will not read the test. so i wasted my money by buying two boxes.
fresh strips should have at least 180 days before experation……not happy with old stock.

Accuracy Concern
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Please Note: this tester is listed more than once on this site, therefore there are more reviews available.
I am concerned about this tester’s accuracy, or rather lack of. I have used it a number of times and compared it to my clinic Lipid Panel results, and the readings have been WAY off, more than once. This tester may be good to show patterns/trends with your levels, but I would not count on it for accuracy. If you read the other reviews I mentioned you will find several people have noticed this also.
Early on I discovered room lighting may be a problem as well. I was sitting next to my nightstand lamp and I received an error message that said ‘too much light’ so I moved away from the lamp and it worked. This tester works on a light transparency method and so I’m inclined to believe even your room lighting may effect your accuracy.
If your levels seem to be in an unhealthy range I would hope you can follow-up with your clinic and verify the results just to be sure…good luck.
Great Tester – We’ve Owned for Many Years
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We have owned this device for many years and use it fairly regularly. My boyfriend doesn’t like doctors, so it’s good to have the CardioChek device for nearly instant home testing whenever we wish. It’s great!
The device is about the size of a long pack of cigarettes and is SUPER easy to use. You can buy a variety of test strips for it. We have the total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and Triglycerides tests. From these, you can also calculate your LDL levels quite easily.
You turn on the CardioChek, slide in whichever strip you want to use, and then add in a drop of blood. We have an AutoLancet which is a one-button push pen-like item that easily gets a drop of blood without much pain at all. Then you wait maybe 30 seconds, and the device tells you the exact number.
We haven’t had any problems with this system at all. If anything, the problem we have is that I don’t bleed easily and my blood refuses to leave my body
I find that running my hand or foot under warm water for a few minutes helps out. My toes seem to work better than my fingers, and are less sensitive, too.
Highly recommended, we haven’t had any problems with this at all in the many years of use.
excellent for your peace of mind

I have this. It is very easy to use and understand. It is similar to many blood testing devices. So nice to be able to do a quick test on cholesterol levels without all the waiting at the doctors office. It is not a replacement for going to the doctor, but a nice test for between visits when you wonder how you are doing.

A good machine to have but the cost is too much because you have to order everything else separately
Great Cholestorol Check Device!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If your cholesterol is a little high and you want a regular monitor for checking it…this is the machine you need. It’s accurate and you can buy the test strips at most pharmacies. They cost on the average between 30 and 100 dollars depending on how many you need. When you weigh this against how much it costs to get your cholesterol checked at the doctor, it’s worth it!
Very disappointing

I was excited when I bought the device and the test pack form the store. My excitement faded away with this stupid device. Well. The most painful part is taking the sample as it is very tricky. If any thing goes wrong, especially from taking the blod out of your finger till placing it on the little thing in the device, the test kit is useless. You have to use another one. Of course the three test-pack is $12-15.
Fortunately I bought it from a local store and I am returning it.
The idea of the device is great, if the whole process is well thought through in terms of home-use. However, I don’t think this particular one is mature yet for that purpose.
I hope they improve future releases or if they are other competitors.
You don’t have to pay this much

Our local Wal-Mart just started selling this item for $100. You don’t have to buy one online for $120!
A great tester….
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great device. It’s very easy to use, gets results in just minutes and saves on trips to the Dr’s office. You check for more than just blood sugar, but to keep an eye on your cholesteral. I paid more for mine didn’t know Amazon carried these, they are a much better price here including the test strips. If you go to the company website you’ll pay more and the best part is you can do it in your own home first thing in the morning after the 12 hr fast instead of waiting to get to a clinic or Dr’s office.
Excellent product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been using this for quite some time now and do not have any problems with this. I love this product. This is very simple to use. If you are using it for the first time, you may end up wasting a couple of tests trying to figure it out. Once you get a hang of it, you will love it. This is even better than the discontinued LifeStream product, because you can check your HDL, Triglycerides and Total Cholesterol with the same product. Only down side is that the strips are expensive. On the other hand, this is an excellent device to monitor your Cholesterol in between doctor visits.
