The Heart Revolution The Extraordinary Discovery That Finally

If you’re like the millions of Americans who have seen those imagination Bowflex infomercials on TV you’ve in all likelihood wondered whether they genuinely work. They make working out look so exciting! My story is in all probability all too familiar. I was your typical over weight, out of shape, middle aged guy who had no control over his eating habits and lifestyle. I had grown fat and lethargic, spending my time watching TV, while devouring heaps of junk food. I was at a low point in my life and had let myself go physically and emotionally.

It was not until I saw one of their well formulated infomercials that I became inspired to take control! I had grown sick of wearing sweatpants and not being competent to fit into the clothes I liked. I wanted to be proud of my body, not disgusted! After much deliberation I decisive to take their 6-week challenge. If I was not 100% satisfied with my results in 6 weeks, I could return it for a finish refund, no questions asked. So here begins me stimulating review of the Bowflex Revolution home gym and what it has done for me, and more importantly, what it may do for you.

Your First Bowflex Workout:

My Bowflex Revolution arrived at my door within 2 weeks as promised. Setting up took when it comes to an hour. Nothing too crazy here. The instructions are easy to read and without doubt or question written. The introductory few workouts on my new Bowflex home gym took a little getting applied to. What makes the Bowflex Revolution so distinctive from other fitness instrumentation is the use of Spiraflex. This is a patented resistance engineering science that uses an elastic wrapped around a coil to give rise to highly controlled, natural sentiment resistance to give rise to the feel and fast results of free weights. Pretty cool I ought to say. So does it genuinely do as it claims?

Bowflex Results Explained:

Well, I wouldn’t say it feels precisely like free weights. However, the results from my workouts have been exclusively blown me away. The Revolution is the real deal. When you carry out a motion on the Revolution, the machine apples neverending resistance allround the exercise. In essence, the Bowflex challenges you from the very beginning and to the very end of muscle contraction. And since it applies even tension, you get an unbelievable pump after each workout. And it doesn’t end there. Due to the controlled and restrictive nature of the exercises (don’t worry you may do a lot of exercises), you are trained to use rigorous form for faster, better gains. Each rep is performed with greatest or most complete or best possible results. You won’t be capable to sway your body and cheat like you could with free weights.

What I Really Like About The Bowflex Revolution (Benefits):

o Tons of skillfulness with 100 exercises and 400 variations

o Able to work any body portion and heal problem areas (i.e. – lower back, abs, arms, etc)

o Very effective at isolating dissimilar muscle groups for increased definition and development.

o Totally quiet. No heavy weights clankin’ around.

o Can workout in the privacy of your own home. No more waiting in line at the gym.

o 6-week guarantee if your not 100% satisfied, no questions asked, makes it peril free. (you still have to recompense for shipping)

Couple Of Things To Improve:

o More weight. It maxes out at 280 lbs, which is fine for most people. I’m pretty strong and would love it if you could throw on another 100 lbs. You may always supplement your training with free weights if you need more.

o Machine is heavy. I guess this is expected.

o No decline bench.

Ok, So Here’s The Bottom Line:

The Bowflex Revolution Home Gym is, hands down, the best home gym I have ever used. No other home gym comes close in terms of quality, effectiveness, and versatility. Forget Weider, and Total Body, and Soloflex. Bowflex in truth grasps strength training better than any individual else in home fitness. Anybody may get in shape with this gym. Now I may grasp why they sold 10,000 of these units. They work. I’ve been using mine for 4 months and and may now fit back into my old clothes with ease. I have at last regained control of my weight and the way I look. I have devised a nice six pack not seen since high school! The best percentage is I genuinely look forward to working out. It’d no longer a chore like it’s been with other machines. Staying in shape is something I get enjoyment from and may do in the privacy of my home.

If your looking for a highly effective and versatile home gym you’ll want to unquestionably check out the Bowflex Revolution. And since they offer a 6-week cash back guarantee, you genuinely have not one thing to lose.

  1. Not Worth The Money
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This book does a disservice for those who really want helpful information about diet.. Dr. McCully did not do himself any favors by allowing his daughter, Martha, a Fashion Magazine Beauty writer to co-author it.. just very badly written.. and it undermines his medical crediblity..

Don’t waste your time or money.. if you need advice.. go to a reputable medical web site….

  2. Heart Attacks
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If I would have read this book sooner I probably wouldn’t have had a heart attack last year. Our current dietary government guides are more harmful than good.Statin Drugs: Side Effects and the Misguided War on Cholesterol

  3. The problem/solution is more than a single factor
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
As a surgeon who is averse to giving patients most medicines (“Heart Frauds” and “Cholesterol Myths” are 2 of my favorite books), I nevertheless reject any uni-factorial “cure” for heart or most other diseases. It’s no more appropriate to focus exclusively on homocysteine than on cholesterol. Human health and disease are related to a huge number of factors and we have an inkling of only a few of them. The only unequivocal ‘truth’ is that lifestyle modifications (Mediterranean-type eating rather than American fast-food and ‘diets’ + regular exercise [swimming, bicycling] + stress management + no smoking) are the best approaches to longterm health. The quick-fixes that Americans want don’t work and are often toxic.

  4. Still reading
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I just received my book and have yet to read more than 30 pages. So far, I find the material interesting and the arguments convincing. More than anything, I wanted to comment on the review by “a reader”…and his or her suggestion that readers would be better off skipping the book and instead seek established medical advice. Just go to quackwatch.com, well known debunker of less than scientific studies and bogus health and nutrition theories, and read how much credence they give to the same ideas espoused in this book. I would add, who better to present the medical evidence than McCully himself, who in 1969, first described the vascular pathology [of heart disease] as it relates to homocysteine levels?

  5. A Brave Medical Researcher Takes on The Cholesterol Mafia
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The innocence of the essential cholesterol in causing atherosclerosis, and the guilt of of the undesirable metabolic product, homocysteine, are presented in a very readable manner, yet with citations to the peer-reviewed medical literature. A positive program for reducing the levels of homocysteine is given that includes supplements and diet.

  6. hOMOCYSTEINE – THE WHOLE STORY
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchase this book with the idea that I would lose a few pounds and keep a healthy heart.

I was far from out of shape and could be considered BETTER than average shape.. I went on the diet

which is simply a DASH DIET thats modified alittle and lost 20 lbs.. When u read his book you learn

about HOMOCYSTEINE which in 2009 most CARDIO and DOCTORS dont TEST for it unless you are a few months

away from dying of a heart attack.. Even then they really dont test for it.. My cholestrol has always been

pretty darn good (RATIO under 4, TOTAL around 175, HDL around 60′s, LDL under 100).. I am always 20 pounds

over weight(5’11-215lbs) , but I have always worked out.. When I got my HOMOCYSTEIINE check(my doctor really did not think it was neccessary) IT WAS OFF THE CHARTS 20.1,, Which is not good.. My cardio doc SAID “DO NOT WORRY

ABOUT THIS” Most of the study if NOT all were done on people who have HEART DIEASE, PLUS HE SAID 20% of american

population have some type of GENE defect that doesnt allow your body to process some chemical that releases

the homocysteine.. My CARDIO DOC also said taken TO MUCH Folic acid & B6 could promote plaq buildup in your blood

making things worse.. Well I research what my CARDIO DOC was ON THE MONEY!.. I still take the recommend vitamens

that Mccully recommend , but I dont OVER DO IT like Life extension states(3g of Folica, and a ton of B12,B6..

I thought the book was written great for a normal guy like me, but I fault Dr.Mccully for not discussion this GENE

that ALOT of people may have .. I know someone who is 100lbs over weight, he can barely walk, and eat junk, but

his HOMOCYSTINE level is 11(WHICH IS STILL HIGH).. I dont drink, smoke, rarely eat fast food, & i can run 3 miles BUT my HOMOCYSTEIN is OFF THE CHARTS.. In anyevent..

  7. This book could save your life.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
For the past few decades we have been told a dogma that has recently been shown by research to be not true: that the major cause of heart disease is cholesterol. Because of this erroneous dogma, many Americans have significantly reduced their consumption of healthy foods — such as eggs — simply because they contain cholesterol, and eaten unhealthy foods rich in sugar because they don’t contain cholesterol. The surprising truth is that cholesterol is not a bad substance to be avoided but rather is an important biochemical which is essential for human health. Cholesterol is so essential that our bodies actually manufacture it; in fact, humans typically manufacture 3 to 4 times more cholesterol than we get from food. Well, if cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease, what is? The answer is that the two major causes of the arterial blockage which can lead to heart attacks are free radicals (which can be combatted by antioxidants such as vitamin C, Vitamin E, and selenium) and homocysteine. Homocysteine is a natural substance which is formed from metabolism of the amino acid methionine. Vitamins B6, B12, and folic acid can keep the concentration of homocysteine in our bodies low enough to be safe. But if we are deficienct in these essential vitamins — as many people are — the level of homocysteine in our blood rises dangerously and can induce the formation of arterial plaque which blocks the arteries and leads to heart attacks. High levels of homocysteine are far more dangerous than high cholesterol levels. In this book the man who discovered this fact, Dr. Kilmer McCully, discusses in readable terms the importance of keeping homocysteine levels low and dispells the myth that foods containing cholesterol — many of which are quite good for us — are dangerous. You need to know and understand this new paradigm if you want to preserve your health and protect yourself from heart attacks. As a research chemist, I can’t recommend this important book too highly.

  8. Good material about one of the causes of heart disease
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The author goes into great detail describing the benefits of having a low homocysteine level in your blood. He says that you need to eat foods that contain sufficient levels of B-6, B-12, and folic acid. These nutrients lower the homocysteine in your blood.

So, he makes a good case that a high homocysteine level is not good for your heart health.

However, the book does have contradictory advice. I just opened to page 203 and read where he says to eat whole eggs. But in one of the recipes he has you combining one egg yolk with four egg whites. He also says to drink whole milk but one of his recipes calls for skim milk. Maybe the recipes need the ingredients in that form so that the finished product has the right consistency. But you see what I mean, it does make it confusing when trying to remember the right foods to eat.

  9. Excellent
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I highly recommend this book. I’m not in the medical field, but I am a scientist so I appreciated that this text was not “dumbed down” too much. Obviously it doesn’t give the detail that a purely scientific text would, but it provides enough information and references so you can check out the fundamental research.

  10. Important Information About Treatment for Heart Disease
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The book logically presents information suggesting that there is a simple preventative treatment for heart disease. The author writes to the lay person, explaining the lack of information supporting the status quo – the supposedly heart-healthy low fat diet – and supporting his homocysteine hypothesis. The only short-coming of the book is in the final chapters, where the author over reaches the information presented and suggests control of homocysteine levels may be a cure all for a wide variety of conditions, including alzheimers and cancer.

  11. Some good information but distorted presentation.
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Dr. McCulley presents his case for homocystene as a risk factor in heart disease and there is some useful material here. However, he is so intent on convincing his audience that cholesterol is meaningless that he distorts the data. Several times he lumps the effects of cholesterol in the diet (probably of little importance) together with cholesterol in the bloodstream (shown to be important in hundreds of studies). In the end I decided that I wasn’t sure that anything he said was not very biased. Heart disease is probably not a case of homocystene OR cholesterol but homocystene AND cholesterol. I hope all readers of this book will also read other sources such as Kowalski for a balanced presentation. Fortunately there are other sources of information on the importance of homocystene. Reader beware.

  12. Heart-health without cholesterol fear -a best read!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This book gives easy, doable and simple prevention solutions to heart disease, including increasing B vitamins that lower a natural blood-vessel toxin we all -without exception- make, homocysteine.

Dr. McCully discovered the vital role of this molecule in heart disease [now with roles in over 100 diseases] but his insistence that it is NOT cholesterol or fat that cause bad arteries got him fired from and black listed and disgraced by Harvard University, in 1978 -only to be re-offered a professorship 25 years later [he graciously accepted].

Four new studies about homocysteine now appear daily and a Nobel Prize for single handedly discovering, proving and popularizing such toxic player and risk-factor in health should be in the works.. He now shares that life-long body of wisdom with the public. The good news is that ANYONE can lower his/her homocysteine with a high strength multi-B vitamin pill, the only therapy. Easy to read and well edited, this is the FIRST book you should read, and as a bonus, it will make you feel better about cholesterol.

Heh, any heart-health book with a high nutrient but high cholesterol recipe for chicken-liver spread with egg and butter deserves notice. Not only that -McCully was as right then as he is now, it is a lack of micronutrients that is so dangerous, and this includes omega-3 oil and the ‘”B” healthy’ B vitamins.

This book is as vital for your doctor or cardiologist and buying them a copy too may be one of the smartest things you could do. Their life is a hard one with the drug-interests dominating much of the landscape. They should appreciate scientifically sound data about non-toxic non-drug nutritional prevention options, and it is here that Dr. McCully filled in much of the puzzle picture.

I add my voice to the very first reviewer, Dr. Willett, Chair of Harvard’s Nutrition Department, in warmly recommending this important yet easy to read book, Eddie Vos Sutton Qc Canada http://www.health-heart.org E-mail: vos@health-heart.org

  13. A MUST READ !
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This book is a must read for anyone concerned about his/her cholesterol level…….especially if your medical professionals are solely focussed on lowering them as the only rational strategy for good health. Kilmer McCully does a great job of adding balance to the medical community’s current enslavement to the cholesterol=heart disease theory, and in the process demonstrates again how the world of science tends to banish those whose breakthrough insights don’t fit the mainstream mold. Fortunately for us all, McCully’s insights about the role of inflammation in heart disease are finally being more fairly considered by the

    medical establishment.

  14. Interesting expose of the cholesterol fallacy
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Along with Ravnskov’s “Cholesterol Myths” I would rate this as vital reading for anyone interested in their health. It’s books like these that have convinced me to take my health into my own hands and largely ignore doctors, governments, the food industry and others who have vested interests and reputations riding on the back of the failed Lipid Hypothesis. McCully is one of those who has dared to oppose the “Cholesterol Police”. His description of how he was treated, despite having conclusive evidence, angered and shocked me. It illustrates clearly that many so called scientists are not following the Scientific Method at all. They need to remember that you don’t do experiements to prove your favourite theory is right, but to expose the truth, no matter what that turns out to be.

Ignore the reader from Columbia, MD USA. High blood cholesterol has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with causing heart disease (see Ravnskov). People with low levels are just as likely to get CHD as those with elevated cholesterol. However, heart disease patients have high levels because Cholesterol repairs damage to the body – other factors (Homocystene, Lp(a), free radicals and so on) are the real cause, so the body attempts a repair by increasing cholesterol levels. So a high blood level is just a symptom, not the cause.

  15. Revolutionary diet that works!
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This book is excellent and not some fad. The diet is too good to be true, but it works! I lost 35 pounds on this diet, and enjoyed it! A must read selection
