3Not nearly as good as 2-octyl cyanoacrylate products
By testmaster
I was extremely pleased for many years with the original Band-Aid Liquid Bandage which contained the miracle ingredient 2-octyl cyanoacrylate, a human-safe version of superglue which is currently used by doctors/surgeons/vets as the best available product. This Nexcare product doesn’t work as well in any respect compared to the original, and 3M knows it, but it is no longer sold over the counter to people (evidently too many folks were not careful in using it). Note that acetone (horribly stinky nail-polish remover) or mineral oil or any superglue remover does remove this human-safe version of superglue, but this was not common-enough knowledge and folks did not have a remover readily available when they misused it. So it was removed from the consumer market several years ago, evidently due to liability concerns.

5Been using it for years…
By Charlie03
I’ve been using Nexcare skin crack care for a few years. It is the best. Don’t assume it’s like liquid bandage, ’cause it’s not. It actually fills the cracks up and let’s them heal. I also use it to ‘paint’ the whole top of my thumb or finger when it looks like a crack is going to start. It helps keep the skin closed up. Everybody I’ve told about this product calls me to tell me how thankful they are that they found out about it. A tip: if the liquid starts getting a little thick and gooey, add a drop or two of acetone (pure acetone, not regular nail polish remover). It thins it out again so it will brush on smooth. Acetone is what my dermatologist uses on my skin before treatment, so I figure it’s safe.

5Say NO to crack !
By Mark Haubner
This is the only thing that works for dry, cracked-to-the-nerve fingers. After working with cardboard boxes from overseas, my skin opens up within a day. This product seals the cracks, keeping the exposed lower layers of skin from making me cry in pain, and it works within the minute. Another miracle from 3M.

  1. Great Product!

This skin crack aid is just the ticket for cold, dry Colorado winters. It helps cracks heal really fast and stops them from hurting in the meantime.

  2. Check out the ingredients before use!

You should investigate the actual ingredients of this product – not “natural ingredients” as implied in the amazon.com listing per 3M product literature. The primary ingredient is 2,2,4-Trimethylpentane, aka isooctane. Yeah, that octane, as in on the gasoline pump, because that’s what it is, a key component of gasoline. Look up 3M Nexcare Skin Crack Care on Google, and then select the 3M product link. The MSDS sheet is there listing the ingredients. This stuff may “work,” but at what cost to long-term health?

The stuff really works. IT takes away the pain of the skin cracks in my hands and helps to keep them sealed from germs. It also speeds up the healing process. I haven’t found anything that works better!

  6. Actually Seems to Work
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had been using foot moisturizing cream in an effort to help my cracked heals. The cracks just kept getting worse and really hurt! I started using this a few days ago, and I can now walk on my tile floors without causing pain. I’ll have to wait and see if it actually heals the cracks.

  7. It works
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is made for healing small cracks you get on your hands, and it works very well. I get hangnails once in awhile and they catch on things and then it tears the skin. This formula dries quickly within a minute and it provides a waterproof barrier to your cut. It doesn’t sting at all when you apply it to the cut and the cut heals so much faster with Nexcare. I love it and my family uses it too!

  8. great product
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My dermatologist told me to wet my thumbs with the painful cracks, then use a good lotion. It helped a little. Then I found Skin Crack Care…wow! This is agreat product. And the amazon price is great.

  9. This is the best product for skin cracks on fingers
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As a harpist who suffers from skin cracks from practicing and playing so much, this is the only product that works. I can apply it on my fingertips, wait a couple of minutes for it to dry, and resume playing. This is a must have for anyone who has those nasty skin cracks.

  10. Excellent on my skin cracks
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve used this for a couple of years, mostly during the winter when I battle with very dry hands. It’s a tiny bottle but has lasted me a long time. I was glad to find it on Amazon because my area stores began to carry a different (and inferior) product. This provides a good long-lasting seal over my thumb and cuticle cracks so they can be protected and heal.

  11. Finally!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Somehow I managed to get a big crack in my skin on my face about an inch below my mouth, from dry skin probably. After a few days it was bleeding and excruciatingly painful — I said enough was enough and went to the store to look for something for it, and I found this. While I was expecting to seal up the crack to protect it and maybe make it a little less painful, what I wasn’t expecting was how rapidly it has made the crack heal… I am honestly amazed… it has been only 3 days and what was a deep, 1/2-inch long crack is now little more than a small nick.

Will definitely use again, and definitely recommend, it will blow you away.

  12. Effective & Smart Product
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
First of all it works and second of all it works! And it’s clever in how it how it works — by adhering to the wound like fingernail polish that only washes off at the end of the 2-3 days it takes to work its wonders.

  13. Nexcare Skin Crack Care
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have suffered with skin cracks for years and have never found an effective treatment, until now. The use of this product heals skin cracks in days, rather than weeks.

My son and my mother also have this problem and use this product with good results.

  14. Best product for skin cracks
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve tried everything, and this is the only one I’ve found that helps the pain of skin cracks.

  15. Works as intended, but serious unintended effect?
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I have used this product several times for cracked fingertips and knuckles and such and I must say that it has worked better than any other product. I have one very serious concern, though. I was using the product, and happened to go into one of my seizures and passed out with the open bottle on my chest. (I am NOT saying that the product causes seizures). I woke up to excruciating pain to find that the gel had spilled on my shirt, soaked through and ran down my chest and torso, leaving second degree burns the entire 16 inches of its path. I haven’t found anything about this, and I was wondering if any of you have every heard of such a thing. Again, as I have said, it works GREAT for cracked skin; I am NOT saying that skin crack care caused my seizure. Just wondered if anyone ever heard of this causing such a serious reaction, or if you know which chemicals might be responsible? Thanks!
