Tea is good, Infuser material is not

The tea I find from this product to be good. However I don’t like the #5 plastic infuser that it comes with. It’d be more comfortable with using a stainless steel infuser. Who knows what this plastic releases at higher temperatures?

I like this tea pot very much, easy to use and clean, perfect tea every time, the only con, is that the plastic turn yellow after time, but you can use bleach and it will look like new again.

Nicely designed, with a large infuser that can be sealed to stop the brewing process. This eliminates the need to remove the wet grounds before you have had your tea. (This way, all the cleanup occurs at once.) The handle stays cool during brewing. Also is good looking.

Note that this size is for four cups; it is relatively small. So if you need something larger, there are similar models available in larger sizes.

Poor pour

Having owned one of these for at least 5 years I feel I can speak with authority here! It's a good size, looks nice, I've had no plunger issues though bits of tea do get caught in the strainer holes. The cavity at the bottom of the plunger shaft that holds the tea leaves post plunge also holds a quantity of water, always a nuisance when you're trying to shake old leaves into the bin.

But.. the biggest issue by a long way, and the reason I dislike the pot greatly is that it *invariably* spills when you pour. It's nothing to do with lining bits up, it's a simple design flaw in the glass pouring lip. If the pot is over half filled with water (and if it's not, the water won't hit leaves anyway!) when pouring be ready for a steady dribble round to the bottom of the pot and on to the floor.

I find it incredible that a teapot.. designed for one thing, and one thing only, has such a fundamental flaw in its operation. Surely the designers used it before releasing it on the unsuspecting public?!

So don't buy this. Buy something else. I'd never buy one again, regardless of how cute they look.

Perfect Tea every time!

The Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press makes brewing perfect tea from loose tea leaves both fun and simple. If you prefer loose tea to tea bags, and enjoy tea at the office, this is the way to do it. The basket easily holds five teaspoons of loose tea (one per cup plus “one for the pot”). Pour in hot water, wait four to five minutes and press down the plunger. This pushes the leaves to the bottom of the basket, and seals them in so they don’t continue infusing the tea. You have perfect tea, that doesn’t grow bitter, and the leaves are contained so that they can be easily disposed of. It makes enough tea so that you can serve tea to a visitor and even offer “seconds.” Everything rinses out easily, too. I have one for the office and one at home.te

The Bodum Assam Teapot is attractive, sturdy, and easy-to-clean. In particular, I like the way the tea basket is designed, with no holes on the bottom third. This makes it possible for the tea basket to have much larger “vents” without introducing much sediment to the tea, making it easier to clean than the typical baskets which use very fine metal mesh.

Conceptually, Brilliant . . . In Practice, FLAWED

This tea infuser is definitely brilliant, although only in idea. Using it is another matter. First, the fuse basket is poorly designed. I don't think it gives loose tea enough room to fully brew. Second, the basket itself is very flimsy and extremely hard to stay securely in the pot when pouring. As soon as you reach 90 degrees the basket just falls out. You cannot hold onto the lid to keep it in place as you pour because it is very hot. The plunger is made of stainless steel, making it near impossible to leverage.

All in all, a horrible product.

I purchased some of my beautiful herbal medicinal teas from my favorite herbal remedy shop [...]

( be SURE to get their Skinny Mini tea-I lost 18 pounds and now have ZERO cellulite! ) and they recommended this product-it works great although the boil time is a bit slow. It also looks great on my counter and I love that the water is ready for me all day..highly recommend this product!
