I am presently following You: On A Diet The Owner’s Manual For Waist Management written by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen. If you watch Oprah Winfrey regularly, you’ve seen these 2 doctors a lot of times. When I initial purchased the book, it afraid me some, because I thought you had to follow the diet to their precise specifications. Unfortunately, I personally did not care for the recipes in the book and I was stuck on this fact until I realized that I could adjust the feed and recipes to my liking, and it has worked out well for me. The Owner’s Manual For Waist Management reminds me a lot of the low fat diet I followed years ago, only it allows more fat, nuts, and oil – good This easy to follow diet removes the junk from your diet – the junk carbs, fat and calories. You will start out to recognize high fructose corn syrup as your enemy. It inspires you to eat natural, whole foods – whole grains, whole wheat, and oatmeal and advises you to stay away from white flours. You’ll in the end learn how to read labels, and distinguished fact from package advertising. You’ll learn what the divergence is amid a package that advertises 100% whole wheat and what it in truth contains. You’ll gain understanding into how your body may naturally take you to a healthful weight with the proper foods and activities. You will learn to make dieting automatic and a portion of your each day life. You’ll lose inches and pounds. I started the diet in January, 2007 and at this writing, I’ve lost 35 pounds and 7 ½ inches from my waist. I do not exercise the way the You: on a Diet recommends, other than as supposed or expected I’m sure I would lose more inches. You’ll discover that it’s OK to make faults – if you make a mistake, just make a You Turn. This is important. How a good deal of times have you gone on a diet only to blow it and then just give up? A You Turn will keep you from giving up and aid you to succeed on your weight loss journey. The You: on a Diet doctors stress the dangers of Omentum, a band of fat that lives around your waistline, under your stomach muscles, and the effects omentum has on all of your critical organs. You’ll withdraw from sugar as well. In fact, I consider this the most critical percentage of the diet, and very primary for me. If you may get through the first, and even the second week, you will be well on your way to eliminating sugar from your diet – and you won’t even miss it! The diet allows for dark chocolate occasionally. I find that when I do eat it (for me, it’s once a month, usually, but you may eat it more often) I get enjoyment from it immensely. I have found that the junk feed cravings we are all so intimate with go away completely. No longer do I crave Doritos and ice cream. The cravings I do have are for healthful food, and I eat them without guilt. The Owner’s Manual For Waist Management talks to you in layman’s terms – you won’t need to be a rocket scientist in order to grasp it. I highly suggest you buy the book and commence the diet. |

You on a Diet
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a very informative book that is written in layman terms so that anyone can clearly understand what is going on with their body. It has greatly helped me to understand my cravings, why I’m struggling with changing the way I eat, and so on. I recommend it to anyone who is trying to find what works for them. Or if you just want to know how your body works. Also, the diet isn’t hard to follow nor are the exercises too difficult. I think that it’s a great way to get started on your way to a new way of life.

Exellent book for people who have yo-yo dieted in the past. It explains the biology and science behind weight gain and loss in easy to understand language that makes dieting the way we’ve known it a thing of the past. It focuses on health and nutrition in a no-thought-necessary sustainable life plan. Love it. Am passing it on as a gift to a friend.

This book is very informative and it is factual. I purchased it because my physical trainer recommended it. The book is detailed and contains some information that is new and some that I conveniently forgot or gave it a lower priority. I am referring to some poor eating habits that I am guilty of from time to time! It is important to understand how one can go about fixing these problems. Dr. Oz’s knowledge and personality shows in the book. I would recommend it to anyone who is planning some lifestyle changes.

How I learned to manage my waist
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I thought for years I couldn’t lose weight. My blood pressure was too high, my cholesterol was high and my clothes didn’t look good on me. One night we happened to see Dr. Oz on Charlie Rose talking about his book and I made up my mind to buy this book and try it. I found it on amazon.com and had it within a week. This was in 2007. While I was reading it I started doing the things suggested, changing the way I thought about food and started losing weight. Following the things outlined, I lost 30 pounds and have kept it off. I went from a size 12 jeans to a size 4. My cholesterol and blood pressure came down. This is the third book I have ordered because I want to share my success with my friends and family.
Works for Me…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve been reading and applying the information provided in “You on a Diet” with great success. I’ve lost weight and I continue to strive to reach new goals. Changing my eating pattern and habits to include walnuts and tofu smoothies has made a difference in my appearance and energy level. In the past, I had to count every calorie and compute all exercise into calories used. I no longer need to do this to reach my goals. After a few weeks, I’ve become more conscious of the value of the foods I eat in terms of how it affects my hunger. I’m still struggling with my desire to eat unhealthy choices for the sole pleasure of taste. I allow myself to eat some of what I desire. The timing of when I choose to eat my sweet choice appears to be key to my success. I’ll keep working at it. Best wishes for your success.

71 and fit again
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I eat like food was going out of style, so this eat-all-you-want program suits me fine
My wife wished that I would lose weight, so I bought the book and bought into the program. I am 71 and have had a total hip replacement and coronary artery bypass.
RESULTS:
Weight 170, waist 35″ (half my height), blood pressure 115/73, LDL <60, HDL 47-48, triglycerides <100, and I look muscular again.
LIFE CHANGES:
Social eating is a problem. Church pot-luck food smells and looks unappetizing, but I can bring my own food. I still eat beef and pork, but I buy cheap, lean cuts like bottom round, trim off all the fat, soak the meat in vinegar to make it tender, and grill it. White bread makes me feel bad, like a glucose high.
COMMENTS:
This is an eat-all-you-want-whenever-you-are-hungry way of life, not a restricted calorie diet. I liken the program to the way people ate and lived in a hunting-gathering economy. I like the program and was already more than half way there because my cardiologist had me on a diet of not more than 25% calories from fat. My cardiologist and my orthopedist are tickled pink that I have achieved the results they knew were possible. But some people will not buy into the program because they are not willing to give up sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour and gobs of saturated fat.
Very Helpful Book
