Five Stars for Those in Need of Skin Repair. Two Stars for Those Already Invested in Their Skin.

Summary: After using this product for three weeks, I have elected to stay with the regimen constructed by my dermatologist: Renova (for exfoliating dead skin and building collagen) and CeraVe (for moisturizing). While some may find this cost prohibitive, I will elect to invest a little more in my skin-care to achieve optimal results. A study recently conducted by Allure magazine agrees.

The details: With Renova running about $200.00 per tube and Olay claiming comparable results, I decided to take a break from my usual regime and try Pro-X. The results simply paled in comparison. My skin simply lacked the luster and smoothness that Renova delivers. Moreover, while Renova is odorless, there is a slight medicinal note to the Pro-X products. (I’m curious if that scent is added to give the consumer a feeling that he/she is using a product that is comparable to prescription “medications” or if it’s merely a result of the ingredients).

Who I think this could see results from this system: I have always been devoted to proper skincare. When I entered my 20s, I began yearly trips to the dermatologist to ensure that I would never have “play catch-up” with time. Ten years later: Renova was/is worth every single dollar. (And when used properly, peeling is very rare). However, if you have been neglecting your skin for years (by sun-bathing, not wearing a SPF daily, smoking, drinking etc…) and want to change your habits as well as the quality of your skin, I believe you will see results with Pro-X. No, it will not be the same as visiting your local dermatologist, but it will be a close second. So, PLEASE, skip the expensive department-store creams (like Chanel, Clinique, Estée Lauder, etc…), they are nearly as expensive as Renova (if not MORE expensive) and do not have shared results. (Kinerase is the exception here … dermatologists do recommend this product for diminishing fine lines and improving texture).

If you do not have medical insurance and do not care to pay for a visit to the dermatologist (it can be pricey, I agree), try Pro-X and expect results.

The caveat: Allure magazine recently conducted an independent study of Pro-X (which alleges to give similar results to Renova). (See this month’s issue). The results: after 24 weeks of using Pro-X, subjects saw a 25% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles … but the results were not as dramatic as those who use Renova. (However, subjects did not experience the potential dryness and peeling that can result from over-applying or overusing Renova).

So it’s pretty much about your expectations and your priorities (and the state of your finances). Pro-X will deliver results to those who have seriously neglected their skin. Pro-X will not deliver results to those who have been vigilant (i.e. obsessed with optimal skin health). If you are tempted, then I say, try this product … and (whatever the results) return here and post your experience!

Silky and Smooth

I got my Olay Pro-X Anti-Aging Starter Protocol products a couple weeks ago and I’ve been using them morning and night. In the morning I use the Eye Restoration Complex and the Age Repair Lotion with SPF 30. The eye cream is silky and smooth. The age repair lotion hydrates skin and protects it from the sun and also helps to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles.

In the evening I apply the Eye Restoration Complex again and this seems to banish those dark circles, puffiness and crow’s feet. And a plus, it reduces excess under-eye fluids. My last step at night is to apply the Wrinkle Smoothing Cream (which is also silky and smooth). It smoothes uneven textures with moisture, combating those fine lines and wrinkles.

Although I’ve only been using the Pro-X Anti-Aging Starter Protocol products for a couple weeks I already feel a difference on my face. It’s smoother and I think I have a nice glow. I’ve used many other Olay products in the past and loved them all, but these, for me at least, are the best so far. You can’t beat silky and smooth, you really can’t.

My neighbor asked if I got Botox!!!!!

Background- I am 38 and have been told I look good for my age. I have olive and oily skin but not prone to breakouts. I do have some discoloration from many years out on the beach and have some fine lines around my eyes. I got Botox and IPL treatements a few years ago before my wedding and I loved the results however I cannot afford to do that on a regular basis and I don’t want to end up with a freeze face as I call it. Too much Botox is not a good thing.
Fast Forward- The effects of my IPL and Botox treatments are long gone. I have tried many lines of beauty products, studied ingredients, etc. When I heard about Pro X, I decided to try it. For the price, it’s really not bad considering what I have paid for dept. store brands. I had a $5 coupon and a $25 rebate so it was a $31 investment.
I have been using the “starter kit” for just about a month now and this is what I have observed:
*Tightening of skin around eyes/crowsfeet- yes, my neighbor asked my husband if I had got shot up with Botox! 2 other friends of mine wanted to know what I was using on my skin. They said I look refreshed.
*My skin is more even toned and pores appear smaller- I say “appear” because your pores can’t shrink and don’t buy anything that says it will SHRINK pores. Also, my skin has better clarity and it’s more even toned. This product does not claim to cure hyperpigmentation but it really has improved mine!
*My skin is moisturized, glows- I have oily skin and these products are not oily at all. Also, I have psoriasis so fragrance is a NO NO! I don’t need a break out on my face. I also like the fact that the product seems to absorb rather than SIT on the surface of my skin. It just feels good on my skin!
All and all, I think this product, especially the eye cream and night cream are exceptional! The daytime moisturizer is great but I prefer a tinted moisturizer (my preference- MD Skincare Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20, worth every penny! ).
I don’t use Olay cleansers as I prefer Cetaphil, Witch Hazel and Baking Soda (YEP) for exfoliation. My experience with cleansers is simple is better. Also I believe their cleanser have fragrance.
I will continue to use Olay Pro X religiously! Everyone will have different results of course but my experience has been nothing short of exceptional and NO MORE NEEDLES! It’s the first time I have written a product review and this one I felt was worth sharing.

Some info plus a sales pitch

This is a topic I’m very interested in and have read quite a bit about. So I was looking forward to reading this book. While it did contain some interesting information, it was all aimed toward supporting the authors’ own products. There can be a fine line here.

For example, while The Pericone Prescription (written by Dr. Pericone who did a PBS fund raiser) also mentioned his products and supplements, it was very heavy on information. Based on that information it was possible to re-create his entire program without using any of his products. However The Gene Makeover doesn’t do the same thing. I’d go as far as to say it was an infomercial, although one with fewer testimonials and more real information, yet nevertheless it was an advertisement for their program.

I felt cheated that I’d paid good money for this cosmetically treated sales vehicle. To be fair there was useable information regarding nutritional supplements that could be used, but those were not the real core of what they implied could be done. For that benefit it appeared you had to contact them. They crossed the line, and I’d never read anything by these authors again.

I recently received THE GENE MAKEOVER as a gift. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! My interest in this subject is due to a bad genetic makeup. Here is a book filled with breakthrough anti-ageing information that is very user friendly. Finally someone is telling me that I no longer have to be a victim to my genetic inheritance. I can take charge of the quality of my life. The book clearly creates a path to optimal health. When was the last time you heard a Doctor say “be aware of your new day” or “breathe deeply and slowly”? This book is the perfect combination of medical, physical and holistic steps that I will certainly use to control my health and well being.

Get a Makeover!

This book offers hope to the babyboomer generation who recognizes that we are slowly becoming our parents. By following the comments and advice offered in this helpful book, we know that we no longer have to follow in our families genetic past. The authors create the view of a cheery healthy future with sound nutritional advice. Highly recommended.

Finally, the weight loss answer!

Over the years I have read hundreds of weight loss books. The result has been total confusion, as I muddled through conflicting information. Count your points, eat low fat, boost your metabolism with supplements, eat all you want but eat low carb, etc. Hundreds of different books all with a different opinion on how to lose weight.

When a friend told me about Dr. Ellis’s book, “Dr. Ellis’s Ultimate Diet Secrets Lite”, I figured it was just another diet scheme dreamed up by the author to make himself rich and would probably make me fatter. I had dieted myself up the scale, trying out different plans. Gained 20 pounds eating all the fats and protein on one actresse’s well known diet plan. Lost but quickly regained weight watching points on another plan. You name it, I tried it and ended up regaining weight and getting fatter.

But the desire to lose weight was strong so I decided to read Dr. Ellis’s book. I purchased the LITE version. The depth of Dr. Ellis’s knowledge is so impressive, I later anted up for the BIG version of his book. But this review will focus on his LITE version.

The book really begins with the cover. Dr. Ellis is pictured on the cover and his physique is spectacular. It’s obvious he practise what he preaches. Over the years Ellis has experimented with his own body and in labs and explains clearly in this book exactly what adjustments you must make to lose weight and keep it off permanently. He has a PhD in Physiology and is an expert in bodyweight regulation.

Ellis exposes the myths surrounding weight loss, that have caused failure and frustrations for hundreds of thousands of people. And he spells out exactly what one must do to get rid of unwanted pounds forever.

No dieting Ellis believes in simple changes that will give you permanent results. The first key is that calories DO count. The sellers of the low carb books would like you to believe that there is a metabolic advantage to their program. Ellis dispells this myth and explains exactly how and why calories are the bottomline.

Ellis does not stress dieting. His program involves making wise choices to lose weight. Eat a little less and burn more activity calories and you will achieve your desired goal.

Ellis describes exactly how to do that in the book. And for all those looking for the magic fix explains why it isnt out there!

Though this is the LITE version of the Big book it is jam packed with information. Chapters include physical activity, behavoir modification, the plan to lose weight, why low fat diets don’t work, ketosis, the scoop on low carbohydrate diets and much more!

Despite the science in the book, Ellis manages to explain everything clearly. And your interest and excitement in the book will grow page after page as you realize how you have been duped in the past and have finally found the answer to your weight loss woes.

Once you have read the book you will know exactly what to do to lose weight and keep it off permanently!

All the facts, smaller price

Since there is no NO on this diet you don’t become fixated on what you can’t have. Instead of following a “to do” list, you learn what happens biochemically to any food that’s eaten. This changes how you feel about food before the 3 rules are laid on you. The rules are plain old common sense. ALL diets that fail violate either one or all of these rules. You finally see once and for all WHY everything you did in the past COULD NOT work. You can actually take UDS and combine it to any diet and turn that diet into a winner or just follow it all itself. Dieting is math, not myth. UDS contains the sad truth- none of our pet beliefs are true. If you want something, you have to do something for it. That’s why some people are fat- they are the same people that want something for nothing. That’s why we admire people with incredible bodies- we know they don’t come easy. All the other diet books claim to be EASY. If it’s so easy then why would ANYONE be fat. It’s because it’s not easy. It’s not hard but it’s also not easy. Without this information you are guaranteed to fail. The “Lite” version has all the facts you need. I recommend the larger more expensive version because Ellis’s story is amazing and he tells you what he thinks about EVERYTHING and doesn’t hold back. Just be sure to GET THIS BOOK!

HELPFUL, BUT DISAPPOINTED

THIS BOOK WAS A DISAPOINTMENT TO ME AND IN MY OPINION NOT WORTH THE MONEY. THE BOOK WAS HELPFUL IN REVIEWING THE BASIC METABOLIC PROCESSES, BUT GIVES NOTHING NEW TO ANYONE WHO HAS STUDIED THIS TOPIC IN DEPTH. THE BOOKS BASIC IDEAS ARE 1)TOTAL CALORIE CONSUMED MATTERS, BUT IS NOT THE BEST PLACE TO WORK ON WEIGHT CONTROL, 2) A LOW CARB DIET TO REDUCE APPETITE AND CAUSE THE BODY TO SHIFT TO FAT BURNING, 3) AND INCREASE ACTIVITY. NONE OF THESE ARE NEW CONCEPTS, BUT DR. ELLIS FEELS THAT ONLY HE KNOWS THE TRUTH. HE PRESENTS HIMSELF IN A WAY THAT WAS A TURN OFF FOR ME. A USED CAR SALEMAN APPROACH. HE COULD HAVE REDUCED THE BOOK TO 100 PAGES AND TOLD YOU ALL THAT WAS NEEDED. THE REST OF THE FLUFF IS MOSTLY HIM TELLING YOU HOW HARD HIS JOURNEY TO PERFECTION HAS BEEN, SLASHING OTHER PEOPLES WORK, AND TELLING YOU HOW SMART HE IS. IT GOT OLD AFTER A FEW HUNDRED PAGES. THE BOOK HAS GOOD INFORMATION IN IT, BUT IN THE END IT COMES DOWN TO YOU DOING THE WORK AND STICKING WITH IT LONG TERM. OVERPRICED, BUT HAS SOME WORTH.

Swisa is fantastic

I was a bit sceptical at first, as there are so many new fancy brands on the market with 8 peptides per cream, all new branded ingredients and myths around them, bla bla bla. I decided to give it a go after reading all great reviews here. I was looking for a new skincare line as high-end brands are just rediculuosly overpriced for what they offer.

Result- Swisa really improved my skin when I had a serious clogged pores situation (fulliculitis).

No idea whether it is dead sea salts or selection of ingredients in general, but my skin looks better than ever, firm, reduced wrinkles, younger by a decade (I am 35), zero spots.

I use it in combination with the Prototype – 37c and UNT AHA/ABA serum.

It is sold at discount on Amazon, and A-VIVA seller fills in details in the product description form in a client-oriented manner so you do not have to pay import tax. Fantastic deal all in all.

I would recommend this brand to anyone.

Swisa Beauty Anti-Aging Cream

I use the Swisa Beauty Anti-Aging Cream as often as I use the Swisa Beauty Sensation Line Reversal Peptide Serum Dead SEA Cosmetics morning and night as I believe they work with each other. I have tried using one without the other and it is ok but when I use the Line Reversal Peptide Serum, the Eye Cream and the Anti-Aging Cream you can’t help but to continue to feel your face and look in the mirror more often just because your skin looks and feels so good.

Swisa is awesome

Swisa is a product that uses dead sea salts and minerals. Cleopatra used the dead sea as her own beauty spa. This company’s products are awesome and you will notice positive effects within the first few days. What is even nicer, is that a little goes a long way, so the product will last you a while. I highly recommend buying Swisa and Premier products from Amazon becuase you’ll get them for half the price of buying them at your local mall kiosk.

Anew vs. Olay – A Matter Of Price

“ANEW CLINICAL Line and Wrinkle Corrector” by Avon does a good job of deep moisturizing, making your skin look and feel much smoother, somewhat firmer, and maybe even a little younger. This 1.7 oz jar though is way over priced, compared to others that work just as good. I found that Olay Total Effects Night Firming Cream for Face & Neck – 1.7 fl oz was just as effective and even lasted much longer, and check out the deal at this time. I had to use more of the “Anew” to spread on my face and throat, and went through the Anew, much more quickly then the same amount of Olay. The “Olay” lasted nearly 3 months, using it every day.

Wrinkle Corrector?

It’s good as most Avon products are. It’s also less expensive here than on the avon site. But as far as “correcting” wrinkles….I can’t say that I look younger than I did prior to purchasing. I look the same to me. I think the reviews from the ladies on Avon are dreamers or wishers. It is a great moisturizer, but there is no real fountain of youth.
