made me worse

i had slight acne before i started with murad. I had tried other products like proactive and skin ID but they never fully got rid of my pimples. So then I tried murad at first it seemed to clear everything up then after a month i started to get big red pimples on my face i had never had anything like that in my whole life. But instead of just going away it got worse and worse, I even started to notice that i had blackheads.I had not seen blackheads on my face since i was a teen. Even though i have stopped using murad for about two weeks it’s damage is still being done. my face has those big red pimples all over it and some are still coming up because of the blackheads. The healing process is taking longer then i am use to seeing and as it heals it is itching like crazy. All i have to say is buyer beware.

Works well

I am over 40 and have been fighting acne since I was a teen. Although benzoyl peroxide based products like Proactiv and Acne Free work fairly well, they dry out my skin and make my skin looked aged and gives me dry patches. I have been using this product for several years and I can definitely tell when I run out and use something else. This product leaves my skin glowing, soft and youthful. When I first started using it I broke out in big cystic acne, so I stopped for a while until I got control again and then I worked into it slowly. I started using it at night and then the benzoyl peroxide (bp) system during the day. I eventually weaned myself off of the bp system and use Murad exclusively. If I do get a hormonal break-out I will sometimes add a dab of bp to the problem area for a few days and the problem is solved. I recently went to a skin care product “party” and I have to say that my skin looked better and younger than the people who were peddling their line and they told me whatever I was doing was really working for me The only reason I did not give it a 5 was that I still get occasional hormonal breakouts.

TERRIBLE

Made my skin worse! I tried this product for three months and all it did was made it worse. I did not see any improvement at all. Now I just use Swiss Apricot Scrub with Salicylic Acid and it works great. Do not buy this product!

Not just for acne prone skin!

I’m 28 and have always had what I would call average skin, the kind that most women have. I have normal skin with a little more oiliness in the T-Zone and I get blackheads and the occasional breakout. I have tried all kinds of different product lines (Urban Defense, DDF, Dior, Philosphy, Bliss, etc.) and am the happiest with the results I get from Murad.
I have been using Murad for about 2 1/2 years now so I have tried a lot of the Murad products and found a routine that works great for me.

Murad is a Miracle

I know it sounds cliche, but I have literally tried every acne product both over the counter and prescription. Such products include (but are not limited to) Proactiv, Exposed Skin Care, Differin, Accutane, Neutrogena products, Clean and Clear, etc. I have never had results like this. I previously tried the Murad Acne Complex and found it to be a little too harsh for my red, irritated, sensitive skin. I currently switched to the sensitive line for the Murad Acne Complex which consists of this cleanser, Moisturizing Acne Treatment Gel and the Cellular Replenishing Serum. I have found that my cistic acne is gone, the blotchiness is reduced and the number of whiteheads has drastically reduced. My skin has never looked so smooth in all my pre-teen and young adult life and I have only been using this particular line for 4 days! In addition to the sensitive Acne complex, I would also recommend getting the Clarifying Toner. And remember, a little goes a long way with these products!!

I’ve been using it for 3 months and ALL my acne problems are solved. I’ve tried lots of other products and nothing works like this. It doesnt leave the skin dry or irritable (like other acne cleansers) and it is dual action: 1) prevents acne breakouts 2) stops any developing acne dead in its tracks.

Good but not great.

The information presented seems very complete. However, how anyone can write a guide such as this and leave out an index is beyond me. Finding the information for which I am looking is hit or miss since the index is nonexistent. I shouldn’t have to go page by page through this large book to find the specific facts and products I need.

Great handbook of unique information…

I recently checked out Don’t Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me from the library and while I don’t always agree with her opinions find it a great resource for sensitive skin and rosacea. Will either purchase the 09 version coming out in December or her online subscription. Back to this book; product reviews are limited to summaries of each categories “best” leaving most of the book to detailed information about almost ever area imaginable of skin and body care. It’s the first place I ever heard the term “Ocular Rosacea” although I have researched a fair amount about vascular (comes and goes on face). It amazed me that despite have expressed my concerns about super dry, red, and irritated eyes for years to dermatologists, allergy doctors, ophthalmologists, and opticians (in three states having moved), none ever considered this. So I had to bring it up last week at the dermatologist who wrote out a prescription for a simple antibiotic which has really helped…Goes to show even Google has its limitations : ) So Thank you Paula!

Disappointed

The book covers myriad topics and is written in a “chatty” style. This book purports to be such an all encompassing and knowledgeable reference book as to be the “Bible” for the topic. Well, unless it is the Bible of a religion, it needs an index. The author’s failure to provide an index coupled with her “chatty” style, makes finding information on a specific condition, ingredient, technology, procedure, solution, whatever — mind numbing.
