Cholesterol Chek Glucose/Cholesterol Meter

A cholesterol meter is a utile gadget that may be without apparent effort used at home, formulating readings in only minutes.

Although every one needs cholesterol to support the body build new cells and create hormones, high levels may be harmful.

The body gets this fatty like substance from the diet by consuming such things as completely filled fats and trans-fats, and the rest is invented by the liver. While the liver develops around 80 percent, foods such as meat, fish, cheese, and animal merchandise provide the rest.

Consume too much feed full of completely filled fats and you soon get started to experience health problems.

The fatty substance travels around your bloodstream by latching on to specific proteins. It clings to the inside of the arterial walls making them fur up and narrow, which in turn affects the blood flow through the body.

High LDL (or low density lipoprotein levels) is oftentimes a element in coronary artery disease such as atherosclerosis. This sort of impairment of normal physiological function may lead to strokes and heart disease, etc.

High risk groups are those with high fat diets and the obese, while stress, an inactive lifestyle, and hereditary constituents also play a part.

Obesity levels are on the rise in a good deal of countries, and with busy schedules numerous people rely on fast food. In a great deal of cases the fast feed holds high amounts of insalubrious fats, which only contributes to the problem.

In countries where procedure healthcare screening may be expensive, a good deal of humans choose to monitor their health at home.

Using a cholesterol test meter will show up any problems, consequently it would be wise to invest in one so that you may then take steps to lower the dangerous LDL levels before they become a more severe problem for you.

1Waste of money
By Rafael F. Sanchez
This product is unreliable and there is no customer service. I would return it but I threw away the box. I will now have to throw away the monitor too.
The 3 readings for cholesterol that I took with this machine were 180, 140 and Low. My true cholesterol reading is around 210. I tried to contact the customer service phone number but it just rings and rings and nobody answers. I tried for a week with no answer. Today a chinese lady with broken english answered the phone and told me the manager will call me back next week. Should I wait that long to throw away this product?

2Not easy to find its test strips
By Hender Molina
It was hard to start using well this device. Strips gave error several times. When I a tried to buy locally more strips I found out they were hard to find. Cholesterol strips are available over the internet only in expensive packages of three strips.

4Better Than The Old Model, But With Room For Improvement
By lannr
This is the new version of the Q.Steps Glucose/Cholesterol meter.

It still takes a lot of blood, but you apply it to the side of the strip instead of in the middle. You must make the application of the blood in one try to get an accurate result, so when you think you have enough, squeeze out a bit more and then touch the drop with the strip that is already in the meter (If you have enough for the test, it will drip before you can touch it to the strip). If you had the right amount, you will see it wick to the other side of the strip. Then quickly put the meter down and shield the strip from light with your hand until it is finished calculating – that might not be necessary, but the old meter used changing color or reflectivity to determine the reading and I couldn’t tell from the new manual if this is still the case.

This is easier to use than the CardioChek Cholesterol Meter, but when your total cholesterol is below 200, all it says is Lo, instead of a number. Another plus for the CardioChek Cholesterol Meter is that it will measure HDL and triglycerides, but the meter is large and clumsy and takes even more blood for each test than this one does, and the test strips are more expensive.

The owners manual is much better than the one for the original Q. Steps, but you need to read it all before using the meter – the manufacturer should get someone to edit it so that it is in a more logical order.

If you are going to use the meter to measure blood glucose, be sure to reset the units to mg/dL from the default mmol/L.
