not up to the hype

I am disappointed with this product after reading all the great reviews. I followed the directions to the letter, including taking fresh lemon juice to aid the reaction, etc. As the directions state, taking 2 more each night until reaching 3-5 bowel movements the next day. I am up to taking 16 pills, and have yet to have more than 2 BMs the following day, and have lost at most 1, maybe 2 lbs that I can directly attribute to this product, going from 245 to about 243. My stomach/intestines/bowels do make some noise, and true to form, my BMs are liquified. Word of warning…if you try this stuff and you feel the need to pass gas, do so at the very high risk of it not being just gas. Disgusting, I know, but I’m just being honest and trying to let you know what you are getting in to here.

I would have given one star, but since it did seem to help a little, I gave 2 stars.

As far as the shipping…I think I had the product 2-3 days after ordering, so no complaint there.

I did just what the directions said and all the cleanse did is give me the runs, not uncontrollable. I did not see anything abnormal or feel like it was doing what it claimed it does. For the money an expensive laxative!!!

So, what’s in this stuff?
I went on their website, and found a single ingredient listed: Magnesium oxide. Look it up on Wikipedia. Then look up enteroliths.
If you decide you still want to use this stuff on a regular basis, (i.e. you don’t mind the possibility of toxic levels of magnesium, wearing out your kidney, and growing bezoars in your gut), you may want to compare it to Milk of Magnesia. Just add a hydrogen molecule and some water. And deduct half the cost.

Interesting book though far, far too much science in it for the average person (BTW – I have a Master’s degree and a former college roommate is now a registered dietician so I’ve been around related books and discussions and still found this hard to follow).

I have read a lot of books on physiology, more specifically hormones and metabolism, written by people with board-certified medical degrees. This book explains almost all of what the others do, plus more recent research, in a much easier to read format with helpful charts and references. I was very surprised a book of this quality could come from a non-degreed personal trainer. I have a new respect for Jillian Michaels for passing along medical researched-based facts (many pages of peer-reviewed medical references in the back if you want to check the sources) and dispelling myths like working out on an empty stomach, and the problems with soy and other substances interacting with hormones. Her own story is very interesting and there is a very thorough section explaining hormones and their interconnecting roles in our health. I’ve already started cleaning out my fridge and cabinets.

I could not be more disappointed… ZERO RESULTS. The colon cleanse did nothing, no changes at all. I am not just saying there was no weight loss I am saying nothing changed at all! And as far as I can tell there have been no results from the Acai Berry Extreme. I have gotten more results from taking a purely acai vitamin that was less than 4 bucks for a bottle of 60 capsules. Please don’t waste your money, I wish I hadn’t.

This is a joke!

I was hopeful and not looking for a miracle pill, I just wanted it to do at least part of what it claimed to do. The colon cleanse is a joke. It serves NO purpose, and has not made any difference. The Acia berry doesn’t do anything at all for hunger and it makes me jittery which causes me to feel nauseous which causes me to feel sleepy. I haven’t even had the energy I usually have to exercise. I took it for 10 days. I’m stopping as of now so I can have some energy again. I’m sorry I wasted my money. Please don’t waste yours.

Good Product

My husband and I both used this product in conjunction with Jordan Rubin’s 10 day perfect cleanse eating plan as described in his book Perfect Weight America. That is the way this product is intended to be used. It is unfortunate to see so many bad reviews on a great product. I have been diagnosed with gastrointestinal problems and this product was very safe and gentle and with the menu he explains in his book to go along with the product, I lost 4 pounds and my husband lost an amazing 12 pounds! We both had a little headache and feelings of tiredness during the first three days as our bodies were getting used to the no sugar, no caffeine, no white flour, etc. diet. After day three my energy level skyrocketed and I felt great! You must stick with his eating plan and be drinking 3/4 an ounce of water per pound of body weight while taking this product. I hope this review will help people who are considering a safe and effective way to cleanse their bodies. The plan works but you must have the discipline to follow it.

wish i could just buy Remove

I never bothered to look at reviews for this product and am kind of surprised so many had bad results. I have tried many other cleanses: Dr. Natura, Blessed Herbs, and another brand I can’t think of. Also, from reading other’s revies, I’m realizing that I didn’t follow directions and change my diet while on this cleanse (ate like normal). I generally don’t have an easy time going, if you know what I mean, and I purposefully avoid any fiber supplements- anything other than fruits and vegetables tends to back me up.

So, I’ve been happy with the results of this cleanse (done it twice) and the remove product has been more effective for me than any other brand. I’ve been wondering what special thing is in their proprietary blend that works for me and just wanted to buy Remove by itself. From most other cleanses I either get backed up or have diarrhea and so far this is the only one that works for me. (sorry for the details…)

Just goes to show that everyone’s body is different I guess.

Follow instructions and it works

Most importantly, it’s imperative to flush with LOTS of water all day every day you are on this product. If you don’t, you’ll have problems. If you drink the amount of water you should, you’ll be fine.

I followed the perfect cleanse instructions and diet that Rubin lists in the book Perfect Weight America. With a few exceptions, I stuck to foods that were listed as healing foods and not the dirty dozen. I did the chicken soup thing for three days of the cleanse. My husband did the chicken soup for those days as well, just not for breakfast. We both followed the instructions for all the water to drink.

He felt better, I felt much better and I lost about four pounds, and that was only being on it for seven days (he did it for 10). I got off after day seven b/c I had to take antibiotics for strep throat and didn’t want to do the cleanse on antibiotics. I plan on making the soup again and doing the other three days’ worth.

BTW, the soup recipe recommended with this cleanse makes excellent soup. Best my husband and I had ever eaten and we are used to eating good food.

Works like a dream

I love this stuff. I have tried numerous products over the years to address my “sluggish system.” I have never found anything that works as well as this. I don’t see it as a weight loss product. It keeps me regular like clock-work. I use a generous well-rounded tablespoon 3 times a day, and I am “going” regularly. First time in my life!!! I highly recommend this product.

Ok, I am all for colon cleansing. I try to get colonics once a month, pocketbook permitting. Alas, this time of year, money is tight, so at a friend’s suggestion, I bought the Super Cleanse. Day One, I took the 4 pills morning and night. Nothing happened. Day 2, I took the morning dose (4 pills) By noon time, I was running to the bathroom every 10 minutes or so for a few hours. NOT fun. I was at work. I stopped the dosing and started investigating Senna. By most accounts, that were not advertising a product, recommended doses seemed to be FAR under what Super Colon Cleanse recommends. Several site said Senna was toxic in high doses. Seems that anything over 20-40mgs is considered overdosing. Super Colon Cleanse is 576mg and then 3 times a day! So… yeah, it may
be natural. So are a lot of herbs that are considered toxic. Btw… a product that my naturalpath prescribes does contain some senna, mixed in with other herbs and I have never had a reaction to it. My guess is that the 576mgs
is pretty intense, expecially for someone that has a colon that is more or less, in good shape, due to proper diet
and regular colonics. Think I will pass on this product…… and stick to a healthier alternative. Proper food combining, pro-biotics, and the occasional food enzymes and regular colonics.

Works as a laxative (although natural)

I would like to like this product, it always seem to have really high reviews everywhere, and I can get it at trusty and cheap ol’ Trader Joes (grocery store). But unfortunately I cannot take it cause after 1-2 days I can’t keep anything solid in my body. It contains something called Senna which works as a natural laxative. The dosage is pretty high, 4 capsules 3 times a day. I have tried taking half of that and it was still too potent. I think I might try their regular colon cleanse product which only contains Psyllium powder.

If you’re looking for something to cleanse the colon then look elsewhere. As noted on the bottle this product is for people looking to add extra fiber to their diet. Taking 12 pills a day with extra iron is a waste and could be hazardous to your health. These pills did nothing for me and you’re better off just taking fiber pills. Don’t bother with this one.

People dont seem to understand what a good colon cleanser is all about. This formula performs a gentle but gradual transformation into a well operating digestive system. You should never trust a product that has drastic results too fast because it may not be safe for you to use. My friends recommended this colon cleanse complete 7 to me and I have been using ever since. It has been about 6 months now and I feel more energetic and more vibrant. My digestive system is now very consistent and on track with how I want it to be now.

Better than the more popular products that I have tried

After being disappointed with some other products, I tried this one. I was pleasantly suprised to see that it worked as I hoped it would. I have been using this for about 7 months and I noticed that they improved the formula so it can now be taken every day. My husband loves to research natural herbs as his hobby and he gave this the seal of approval. It has helped me lose weight because food moves through my system much more consistantly. I have just felt less lethargic when I dont skip a day or two and feel better overall. I like the idea that the price is very reasonable so I can take it all the time and not feel guilty about the expense. I will stay with this brand going forward because I dont want to be disappointed.

In a nutshell: This is a very well-thought-out book. We’ve been eating processed foods for so long, it is nice to know there is something we can do to help reverse some of the damage they are doing! There is a very strong message throughout the book, encouraging the reader to eat better by including more vegetables and fiber, and reducing red meat, sugar and highly processed foods. The authors have addressed all the main toxic areas in the body, providing helpful information on detoxing and fasting in order to heal and cleanse the body to become healthier. Each chapter includes facts pertinent to the subject, as well as supportive instructions. For cleanses, they include a sample menu with references to recipes within the book. Overall, it is easy to find information using the Index or chapter headings if you don’t want to read the whole book.

Extended Review:
I was amazed to find a lot of information on Candida, a yeast-like health issue that one of my close relatives has suffered with for years. I immediately called my relative and read some of the book over the phone. She was so excited to hear what the book said, and can’t wait to follow the cleansing suggestions to relieve the symptoms she has had for years! I can see how this book can be life-altering in a great and natural way!

Content: The content supports the book very nicely. It starts by talking about health, then explains the how’s and why’s of juicing, fasting and detoxing. The book then goes into the specifics of cleansing your colon, liver, gallbladder and kidney. It then progresses into more detox programs and cleansing yourself mentally and emotionally. In the final chapters the authors include information on the nutrient content in food, recipes to use while fasting and detoxing, and a nice resource guide.

Format: The chapters flow nicely, providing the reader with some great information. I was never confused while reading, but rather caught myself nodding several times in support of what was being explained. In addition to providing great information in each chapter, the authors have also provided some great guides on the nutrition of foods, recipes and resources as a wrap-up at the end of the book.

Readability: I found the book easy to read. The authors have presented factual and scientific information in a way that everyone can understand. The index is easy to use and helps the user find things quickly.

Overall: The book provides just about everything you need (except a juicer, vegetables/food, and supplements) to detox and cleanse your system in order to become healthier. I plan to try a lot of the cleanses and recipes in an effort to become healthier and more energetic!

Information from a prolific nutrition writer

Juicing, Fasting and Detoxing for Life encourages readers to not only eat well but to lead healthier lives. The book does focus primarily on eating well as a means to living a healthier life. Calbom does make a serious attempt to show the impact our dietary choices have on our bodies. The discussion does consider dioxins, refined sugars, processed flour and other foods that we encounter daily.

The chapters are well organized and logically structured. The sidebars are informative and do not detract from the main narrative. The introduction and first chapter discuss the value of healthy living and an overview of how to achieve it. The following chapters discuss juicing, fasting and detoxing (in that order). The next four chapters delve into cleansing and detoxing programs. The last two chapters are a nutrient guide and recipes.

While the overall message and conclusions resonate with holistic living and healthy eating, I feel that the scientific evidence presented is not completely representative of the relevant scientific literature. For example, the discussion on BPA (bisphenol A), an additive used in plastics, and the discussion of avoiding #7 plastic does not consider the current scientific debate on these issues (which include dosage levels, interspecie differences, natural ubiquity of these chemicals, etc) – all of which seem to conclude that more work (especially long-term research) is needed. While our usage of dioxin has been increasing, dioxin levels in human milk and blood have been dropping steadily since the 1970s. Health Canada issued a report on BPA that cautioned its intake in large doses for children under the age of seven (the report resulted in more media-hype than scientific consideration).

Some readers may only be interested in the recipes. The ones that I tried were delicious, and easy to modify for personal taste. With a good juicer, they are easy to prepare (although not all recipes need a juicer). It is strange that the recipe for spinach-avocado soup or spinach power do not contain spinach. There is no explanation given for the omission, hence concluded that it is an oversight. Overall, it’s a good book but needs a little more research and editing.

Armchair Interviews says: This book by a very prolific nutrition writer may interest people who focus on learning new techniques for good health.
