Two Stars for Those Already Invested in Their Skin.
By Erica J. Dymond
Summary: After using this product for three weeks, I have elected to stay with the regimen constructed by my dermatologist: Renova (for exfoliating dead skin and building collagen) and CeraVe (for moisturizing). While some may find this cost prohibitive, I will elect to invest a little more in my skin-care to achieve optimal results. A study recently conducted by Allure magazine agrees.

The details: With Renova running about $200.00 per tube and Olay claiming comparable results, I decided to take a break from my usual regime and try Pro-X. The results simply paled in comparison. My skin simply lacked the luster and smoothness that Renova delivers. Moreover, while Renova is odorless, there is a slight medicinal note to the Pro-X products. (I’m curious if that scent is added to give the consumer a feeling that he/she is using a product that is comparable to prescription “medications” or if it’s merely a result of the ingredients).

Who I think this could see results from this system: I have always been devoted to proper skincare. When I entered my 20s, I began yearly trips to the dermatologist to ensure that I would never have “play catch-up” with time. Ten years later: Renova was/is worth every single dollar. (And when used properly, peeling is very rare). However, if you have been neglecting your skin for years (by sun-bathing, not wearing a SPF daily, smoking, drinking etc…) and want to change your habits as well as the quality of your skin, I believe you will see results with Pro-X. No, it will not be the same as visiting your local dermatologist, but it will be a close second. So, PLEASE, skip the expensive department-store creams (like Chanel, Clinique, Estée Lauder, etc…), they are nearly as expensive as Renova (if not MORE expensive) and do not have shared results. (Kinerase is the exception here … dermatologists do recommend this product for diminishing fine lines and improving texture).

If you do not have medical insurance and do not care to pay for a visit to the dermatologist (it can be pricey, I agree), try Pro-X and expect results.

The caveat: Allure magazine recently conducted an independent study of Pro-X (which alleges to give similar results to Renova). (See this month’s issue). The results: after 24 weeks of using Pro-X, subjects saw a 25% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles … but the results were not as dramatic as those who use Renova. (However, subjects did not experience the potential dryness and peeling that can result from over-applying or overusing Renova).

So it’s pretty much about your expectations and your priorities (and the state of your finances). Pro-X will deliver results to those who have seriously neglected their skin. Pro-X will not deliver results to those who have been vigilant (i.e. obsessed with optimal skin health). If you are tempted, then I say, try this product … and (whatever the results) return here and post your experience!

In the morning I use the Eye Restoration Complex and the Age Repair Lotion with SPF 30. The eye cream is silky and smooth. The age repair lotion hydrates skin and protects it from the sun and also helps to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles.

In the evening I apply the Eye Restoration Complex again and this seems to banish those dark circles, puffiness and crow’s feet. And a plus, it reduces excess under-eye fluids. My last step at night is to apply the Wrinkle Smoothing Cream (which is also silky and smooth). It smoothes uneven textures with moisture, combating those fine lines and wrinkles.

Although I’ve only been using the Pro-X Anti-Aging Starter Protocol products for a couple weeks I already feel a difference on my face. It’s smoother and I think I have a nice glow. I’ve used many other Olay products in the past and loved them all, but these, for me at least, are the best so far. You can’t beat silky and smooth, you really can’t.

I have olive and oily skin but not prone to breakouts. I do have some discoloration from many years out on the beach and have some fine lines around my eyes. I got Botox and IPL treatements a few years ago before my wedding and I loved the results however I cannot afford to do that on a regular basis and I don’t want to end up with a freeze face as I call it. Too much Botox is not a good thing.
Fast Forward- The effects of my IPL and Botox treatments are long gone. I have tried many lines of beauty products, studied ingredients, etc. When I heard about Pro X, I decided to try it. For the price, it’s really not bad considering what I have paid for dept. store brands. I had a $5 coupon and a $25 rebate so it was a $31 investment.
I have been using the “starter kit” for just about a month now and this is what I have observed:
*Tightening of skin around eyes/crowsfeet- yes, my neighbor asked my husband if I had got shot up with Botox! 2 other friends of mine wanted to know what I was using on my skin. They said I look refreshed.
*My skin is more even toned and pores appear smaller- I say “appear” because your pores can’t shrink and don’t buy anything that says it will SHRINK pores. Also, my skin has better clarity and it’s more even toned. This product does not claim to cure hyperpigmentation but it really has improved mine!
*My skin is moisturized, glows- I have oily skin and these products are not oily at all. Also, I have psoriasis so fragrance is a NO NO! I don’t need a break out on my face. I also like the fact that the product seems to absorb rather than SIT on the surface of my skin. It just feels good on my skin!
All and all, I think this product, especially the eye cream and night cream are exceptional! The daytime moisturizer is great but I prefer a tinted moisturizer (my preference- MD Skincare Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20, worth every penny! ).
I don’t use Olay cleansers as I prefer Cetaphil, Witch Hazel and Baking Soda (YEP) for exfoliation. My experience with cleansers is simple is better. Also I believe their cleanser have fragrance.
I will continue to use Olay Pro X religiously! Everyone will have different results of course but my experience has been nothing short of exceptional and NO MORE NEEDLES! It’s the first time I have written a product review and this one I felt was worth sharing.

The Colon is the major body organ that is responsible for expelling toxic wastes from the body. A contaminated colon will lead to chronic ill health. The colon may become toxic because of diet, stress, drugs and chemicals. Such stressors cause the colon to invent a mucous that attaches with slush from processed foods and fixes to the bowel wall. This plaque serves as a flourishing area for destructive organisms.

Why Colon Cleansing Is Important?

If a toxic colon is not cleansed the poisons will flow through the blood to all body organs and adversely effect them. Symptoms of a toxic colon include diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, dull eyes, headaches, bad skin, spots, joint pains, depression and achy muscles. A clean colon may make you lose weight. Colon cleansing is important to achieve a healthful body and mind. Immediate colon cleansing may be followed by painful sensations or changes like aches, flu and pains. Using colon cleansing supplements is less painful.

Natural Colon Cleanse

Having a raw diet is in all probability the best way cleansing your colon. It’s true this is next to impossible, a partial raw diet will likewise do. Having such a diet for at least a week may help you to detoxify your body. Don’t eat starchy foods, sugary carbs and excess animal protein. Instead, you may try acai berry juice.

Colon Cleanse with Acai Berry

The acai berry is the purple hued grape like fruit of the Amazon palm tree found in the Brazilian damp tropical forests. It tastes like chocolate and berry. Loaded with antioxidants, beneficial fatty acids, vitamins and solid homogeneous inorgani substances it is a mine of health benefits.

Colon cleanse is one of the diverse health gains of Acai berry. An Acai berry colon cleanse diet will clean the colon of waste and detoxify it. This diet is altogether natural and effective as a colon cleansing agent. This combo diet procedure includes flushing out waste from your body. It’s powerful antioxidants ruin colon toxins that may impair your health and well being.

Regular intake of Acai berry supplements may free you from complaints of dullness, bloated stomach, gas, a fat belly and irregular bowel movements. It likewise boosts your metabolism. Another vantage of using Acai berry as a colon cleanse is that it is 100% herbal. So there are no side effects from using it with colon cleanse.

Colon Cleanse Diet

Acai berry juice may be applied as a colon cleanse. But, if you are basing your diet on this juice, it is just a fad diet. Trying a fad diet on a juice is not completely healthy. Consuming only juice for days together to cleanse your colon is an uttermost diet that denies the body it is supply of important nutrients. It will hurt your health.

Moreover, Acai juice is rather highpriced too. The best way to consume Acai berry for colon cleanse is in the form of pills and supplements. They are most effective because they comprise a more prominent concentration of nutrients.

The colon cleanse did nothing, no changes at all. I am not just saying there was no weight loss I am saying nothing changed at all! And as far as I can tell there have been no results from the Acai Berry Extreme. I have gotten more results from taking a purely acai vitamin that was less than 4 bucks for a bottle of 60 capsules. Please don’t waste your money, I wish I hadn’t.

I haven’t even had the energy I usually have to exercise. I took it for 10 days. I’m stopping as of now so I can have some energy again. I’m sorry I wasted my money.
A healthful diet, regular exercise, and the daily use of a wide spectrum, pharmaceutical-grade nutritional supplement program, that includes vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and the necessary fatty acids appear to be our best bet for reducing the risk of heart disease, and death from heart disease, as well as closely each other chronic degenerative impairment of normal physiological function (cancer, diabetes, lung diseases, Alzheimer’s disease …just to name a few). Antioxidants have even been shown to slow the aging process, and publicize longevity. Today, people are living longer than ever, but they are ordinarily living longer with chronic illnesses, not inevitably living longer, HEALTHIER lives.

Too oftentimes we KNOW what we “should do,” but oftentimes don’t. We get lulled into a untrue sense of “health security” plainly because we don’t “feel” anything wrong. However, the majority of humans who die of heart sickness don’t feel any sensations or changes whatsoever…they plainly have a heart attack one day and die! Even more startling, more than half of the people who die of atherosclerotic (plaque)-related heart attacks have altogether NORMAL cholesterol levels! If that is the case, then there MUST be more going on than cholesterol that is causing coronary artery sickness and deaths from heart attacks.

Our lifestyles selections have closely everything to do with our chances of dying of a heart attack, type 2 diabetes, and to some degree a lot of cancers, as well as a lot of other chronic diseases. Fortunately, we have the chance to choose amid what will aid us in getting more salubrious and what will not. For example, stress and sleep may be considered two opposing forces affecting our health. A lack of sleep and an increase in stress will increase the danger for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and accelerate aging.

Most persons recognise to eat right, exercise, get a great deal of sleep, reduce stress, reduce exposure to toxic substances, but most persons still do not realize the unbelievable gains that may be received through every day implementation of a full spectrum, pharmacuetical-grade vitamin, mineral, antioxidant, and omega-3 fatty acid nutritional supplement program.

The True Cause of Heart Disease and Stroke

Atherosclerosis is a disease characterized mainly by inflammation of the arterial lining caused by oxidative harm from homocysteine, a toxic amino acid complex found in everyone. Homocsyteine, in combining with other free radicals and toxins that we’re all continually exposed to (stress, pollution, unhealthful feed choices, cigarette smoke, etc.), oxidizes arteries, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, which in turn releases C Reactive Protein (CRP) from the liver-a marker of an inflammation. Inflammation (which results from oxidation) is the beginning stage of plaque build-up and ultimately, cardiovascular disease. Plaque, combined with the thickening of arterial smooth muscles, arterial spasms, and clotting, puts a person at a high peril of suffering heart attack or stroke.

Oxidation of metal resuls in rust. We’re not made of metal so we do not rust, but we do undergo oxidation. Cut an apple in half, and watch it turn brown when it is exposed to air ….it is being oxidized, or damaged. Bananas when purchased green at the grocery store and put on your kitchen counter, will ultimately ripen to yellow. Oxidation causes them to turn brown, and then black. Rubber bands left in the driveway in the hot summer sun, exposed to UV light, become brittle after a few weeks as the elastic corpuscles are oxidized (damaged). People who do not protect their skin from the sun and exccessively tan, cause oxidative harm to collagen and elastic molecules, and end up wrinkled more than others who protect their skin.

Oxidation occurs each single second all around our entire body, organs, and cells. Free radicals, from respective sources, including breathing and metabolism, let alone from toxic chemicals, stress, trans fat, and cigarette smoking, strip away electrons from cell membranes, hormone receptors (including insulin receptors), lipids (including cholesterol), enzymes, and DNA …which may initiate cancer.

Antioxidants, which are both devised by your cells and ingested in the form of vitamins and other supplements, “donate” electrons to neutralize free radicals, and accordingly protect our cells and cellular structures from damage. Our cells are protected by antioxidants, and they repair themselves. Healthy cells function at their optimum. Healthy cells not only function normally, healthful cells are, by definition, not cancerous.

This does NOT mean that a person who takes nutritional supplements will never create heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, wrinkle, or die. However, this much is true …just like we know, persons who smoke 2 to 4 packs of cigarettes per day (excessive oxidation) have an increased peril of almost all chronic impairment of normal physiological functions equated to those who don’t smoke, and likewise, those who do not take a full-spectrum, quality nutritional supplement program have a much better chance of living a longer and more salubrious life equated to those who do not adequately supplement.

Regarding the number one cause of death, heart disease: Of the two major types of cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, the more indispensable parameter is the level of HDL cholesterol. HDL, or high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, is responsible for clearing out the LDL cholesterol that sticks to arterial walls. Exercise, vitamins, minerals, and other antioxidants, specially the bioflavonoid and olive polyphenol antioxidants, increase HDL cholesterol levels and protect the LDL cholesterol from oxidative damage, and accordingly may do more to reduce your danger of heart sickness than medications.

LDL cholesterol is not inherent bad. It is necessary for life. It is indispensable for numerous cellular functions, hormone production, cellular repair, brain function, etc. LDL cholesterol only becomes “bad” when it is damaged, or oxidized by free radicals. Only the damaged, or oxidized form of LDL cholesterol sticks to the arterial walls to initiate the formation of plaque. So, rather than focusing on letting down the level of LDL cholesterol, it make more sense to focus on letting down the OXIDATION of LDL cholesterol!

Let us look at the case of cigarette smoking for a simple example demonstrating that we in truth need to reduce oxidized LDL cholesterol to prevent atherosclerosis, as opposed to indiscriminately letting down LDL cholesterol with statin drugs. Everyone knows that cigarette smoking increments the risk of some chronic diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Smokers with normal levels of LDL cholesterol are at an even dandier peril of fabricating heart sickness than a non-smoker who has elevated levels of LDL cholesterol. Of course the reason why a smoker with normal levels of LDL cholesterol is at dandier danger of disease is because his LDL gets excessively oxidized.

Cigarettes and antioxidants are opposites. Everything that cigarette smoking would do to injure you, and HOW it harms you, is precisely the opposite of everything antioxidants do to protect you and HOW they protect your cells. If cigarettes increase the risk of heart disease, antioxidants support reduce the peril of heart disease. If cigarettes increase the peril of cancer, antioxidants aid reduce the peril of cancer. If cigarettes increase the risk of wrinkling of the skin and aging of the body, guess what does the opposite? Yes, antioxdidants!

Certainly, it is true that if you have two people, and neither of whom are taking nutritional supplements, the one with the most eminent cholesterol level would “lose;” that is have the more outstanding risk of heart disease, heart attack, and death. The reason for this, he would have more LDL cholesterol getting oxidized and sticking to the arterial walls than the person with lower amounts of LDL cholesterol, even though the person with lower levels of LDL cholesterol is still constructing heart disease (just at a slower rate than the person with a higher level). However, studies suggest it may be possible to have a person with a higher LDL cholesterol level than another person, but because he takes a full range of pharmaceutical-grade nutritional supplements he may be at lower risk of heart sickness than the person with normal LDL cholesterol levels who does not take supplements.

Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidants and Essential Fatty Acids: The Real Way to Maintain CardioVascular Health

The answer to letting down the life threatening risk of arteriosclerosis, heart sickness and stroke is to reduce the oxidative harm to the LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and the arterial lining so that inflammation and resultant plaque does not form. Oxidation and inflammation are efficaciously neutralized with the use of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids; and the medical studies show that less oxidative harm and chronic inflammation in the body translates into less incidence of closely all chronic diseases. It is closely that simple. However, we will have to do more than take nutritional supplements to protect ourselves from heart disease; we ought to eat right, exercise, get adequate sleep, and reduce chronic stress as much as possible. And, it is my opinion that the answer to the preventative action of heart disease does NOT lie in statin drugs.

Not long ago, widespread interest was ignited by studies that reported associations among antioxidants and reduction in death from heart disease, stroke, and cancer. Interest continued to increase as even larger studies were published by researchers from Harvard Medical School, who saw a link amid higher vitamin E blood levels and lower numbers of cardiovascular deaths. As time goes on, the more we are learning when it comes to the immense gains of respective antioxidants, as well as minerals, in reducing the danger of developing most chronic degenerative diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin. It helps protect LDL cholesterol, as well as all cell membranes in all organ tissues from oxidative damage. Vitamin E rides along with the triglycerides and cholesterol protecting them from oxidative damage. Recent studies show that the natural form of vitamin E is competent to reduce the danger of heart impairment of normal physiological function and atherosclerosis beyond it is antioxidant effect. (The full range of the natural form of vitamin E includes: d alpha tocopherol, gamma tocopherol, delta tocopherol, and the tocotrienols.)

Knowing all the gains of vitamin E, may you imagine my shock in 2005 when I read in one of my medical journals a three page report when it comes to the results from the Nurses Health Study that vitamin E was “shown NOT to reduce the danger of heart disease?” This was a powerful and statistically substantial study, and the main report was genuinely when it comes to how aspirin scaled down the danger of stroke in healthful women by 24%. I read that and thought to myself, “okay, I may buy that. I see how aspirin, which thins the blood may reduce the danger of stroke, …and 24% is statistically significant.”

I likewise know that aspirin kills over 21,000 humans in the United States alone due to gastrointestinal bleeds. The shock came when I saw on the third page of the report, a little headline with regards to this study’s corollary findings. The headline read, “Vitamin E Shown Not to Reduce the Risk of Cardiovascular Heart Disease.” I couldn’t believe it. I wondered how this could be, after 30+ years of studies showing the gains of vitamin E in sustaining a healthful heart.

Since I knew better, I necessitated to read further. Sure enough, from the Nurses Health Study when it comes to the preventative action of heart impairment of normal physiological function and vitamin E, the report stated …and I’ll quote, “vitamin E showed neither any hurt or gain in all the clinical parameters examined.” My firstborn thought was, good, I’m glad there was no injure …but, how could it be that there was NO benefit? This sounded very definitive. “NO BENEFIT IN ALL THE CLINICAL PARAMETERS EXAMINED!”

Then, I read the very next sentence, “The one exception, vitamin E was shown to confer a 24% decreased danger of cardiovascular death.” As if I was not stunned sufficient already, after reading this I was actually confused. “Wait a minute? ….the former sentence said that vitamin E showed no gain in all the clinical parameters in reducing the peril of heart impairment of normal physiological function ….the one exception being a 24%, decreased risk of cardiovascular death!” Decreasing the peril of cardiovascular death is rather a benefit, wouldn’t you think?

Look at it this way, aspirin scaled down the risk of stroke by 24% and it got all the praise, in spite of it being responsible for killing 21,000 persons each year in the U.S. Vitamin E showed no hurt whatsoever, and it scaled down the danger of cardiovascular death by 24%, and someways this was of no benefit?

I figured out what was going on. Vitamin E did not show any gain in all the clinical parameters examined, …you see, I encountered that death was NOT one of the clinical parameters of the study. They just happened to detect that there was a 24% decreased danger of death. The parameters of the study were things like blood pressure, heart rate, arrhythmias, cholesterol levels and ratios, etc. Vitamin E did not modify these parameters …all it did was prevent DEATH! Since it did not show any gains according to the parameters of the study the writers concluded it didn’t do anything …except prevent versus death.

The researchers stated that they were unable to explain the scaled down risk of death from heart disease. I may explain it …it’s simple: vitamin E protects cholesterol from oxidation. Cholesterol that is not oxidized does not stick to the arterial walls, and if it doesn’t stick to the walls, there is less atherosclerosis, and less atherosclerosis means less heart attacks, and less heart attacks, translates into a scaled down danger of death. Can you imagine what the researchers would witness if they had followed the share of oxidized cholesterol levels? If they would have tested for lipid peroxidation, that is oxidized cholesterol and triglycerides, they would have seen a unfathomed reduction in this “parameter.”

This Nurses Health Study involving vitamin E was the greatest and longest study ever conducted in regards to vitamin E among women. Published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2005, this study involving over 40,000 women found that vitamin E scaled down the risk of death from cardiovascular impairment of normal physiological function in women underneath the age of 65 by 24%, …and even more impressive, in women over the age of 65, vitamin E was shown to reduce the danger of DEATH by an astounding 49%!

A study published in the 1996 report from the National Institutes of Health (Division on Aging), showed impressive results amid a study population of 11,178 persons using multiple antioxidant vitamins who were followed for ten years. The group of elderly persons that supplemented with vitamins E and C above the amounts found in a mutual multi-vitamin had one-half the number of deaths from heart impairment of normal physiological function of those who did not supplement. That is a 50% reduction in the number one cause of death!

Furthermore, the supplemented group demonstrated less overall deaths from NEARLY ANY CAUSE, INCLUDING CANCER, which was decreased by closely 60%. Not one study involving drugs comes close to showing such gains (and without the risks of drugs). Even more impressive, these gains were found with the use of only a few antioxidants. Can you imagine the gains possible from using a full range of quality supplements?

Antioxidants provide shelter from some diseases. B-complex vitamins, folic acid and B6, are related with a scaled down risk of heart attack. Researchers likewise believe that vitamin C provides shelter to arterial walls and reduces plaque formation by neutralizing free radicals before they may harm elastic tissues and affect cholesterol profiles. The epidemic deficiency of vitamin D is related with an increased peril of heart disease, and supplementation with at least 1000 IU of vitamin D revereses this deficiency and provides a heap of and aweinspiring health benefits. Others have studied the usefulness of a combining of antioxidants, in particular vitamins E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C in the preventative action of heart disease and found them to be beneficial. In addition, bioflavonoid antioxidants are affiliated with a reduction in some diseases, including cardiovascular disease. Add to this gains of co-enzyme Q10 and olive phenol antioxidants-and one may genuinely gain beyond taking any medications for prevention.

Beta carotene, grape seed extract and olive extract penetrate deeper inside the LDL cholesterol and arterial walls, adding more shelter from oxidation. Quercetin and alpha lipoic acid work through nitrous oxide pathways to reduce high blood pressure and prevent spasms of coronary arteries, both being major risk components for heart disease, heart attacks, and death.

Studies have shown how the B-complex vitamins, exceptionally folic acid, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12 help reduce homocysteine levels by palliating the conversion of homocysteine into the safe amino acid, cysteine. This leaves less homocysteine to oxidize and nick the arterial walls and LDL cholesterol. To further reduce homocysteine levels, one may take the amino acid betaine, likewise known as tri-methyl-glycine (TMG), as it “back-converts” homocysteine into the safe amino acid, methionine.

Vitamin C intake is related with a decreased peril of heart disease. One study found that the risk of death from cardiovascular impairment of normal physiological function was 42% lower in men and 25% lower in women who consumed more than 300 mg/day. Recent results from the Nurses’ Health Study, based on the follow-up of more than 85,000 women over a sixteen-year period, also suggest that higher vitamin C intakes may be cardioprotective. Vitamin C and grape seed extract in combining are very powerful in preventing oxidation in all areas; the cholesterol, the endothelium, and deeper in the arterial walls. Furthermore, the two antioxidants replenish vitamin E and other antioxidants to synergistically protect cholesterol and the arterial walls.

The bioflavonoid class of antioxidants such as grape seed extract, resveratrol, and quercetin, has been related with reducing the danger of heart attack and stroke by as much as 50% and perchance as high as 70%. Grape seed extract and resveratrol are two potent antioxidants that neutralize free radical oxidation of cholesterol, the arterial lining, the arterial wall, the liver, the brain, the kidneys, and the skin. Both work synergistically with other antioxidants.

Studies have demonstrated the capacity of bioflavonoid antioxidants such as quercetin, to reduce high blood pressure, a well-known danger element for heart attack and stroke. Doctors commonly turn to antihypertensive medications to lower blood pressure as the firstborn line of treatment for hypertension rather than through safer means. Diet, exercise, weight loss, and the use of vitamins and solid homogeneous inorgani substances have all been shown to reduce high blood pressure. If persons genuinely knew how powerful grape seed extract, resveratrol, alpha lipoic acid, and quercetin are in reducing LDL oxidation, increasing HDL levels, strengthening arteries and capillaries, and reducing high blood pressure each person would be taking these nutrients.

Green tea extract helps to both reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and to lower LDL cholesterol. Both actions are necessary, not just the letting down of LDL cholesterol, as with prescription drugs. Green tea extract likewise reduces the oxidation of the endothelium (the thin layer of cells that line the heart, blood vessels, etc.) Green tea extract increments HDL cholesterol and it helps prevent cancer.

Olive extract has been shown to be even more effective in protecting LDL cholesterol and reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer than most other antioxidants, but it’s more effective if employed in combining with a myriad of antioxidants already mentioned.

Soy isoflavones have been shown to reduce the danger of heart disease. A meta-analysis of eight randomized, controlled clinical tryouts published in the September 1, 2004, issue of the Journal of Nutrition found that soy isoflavones were successful in letting down serum low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Again, letting down LDL cholesterol is secondary to the necessary protective means of protecting LDL from being oxidized; but the action of soy includes cholesterol lowering, plus inhibiting LDL oxidation, protecting versus development of atherosclerosis, and reducing peril of thrombosis. The active elements in soy responsible for these gains are the isoflavones: genistein, daidzein, and glycitein. Soy along with Co-Q10 has been shown to reduce risk of breast cancer.

Alpha-lipoic acid protects versus oxidative harm to LDL cholesterol and reduces the inflammatory cellular response within arterial walls that gives rise to more oxidative harm and plaque formation. Alpha-lipoic acid along with magnesium is capable to prevent and support reduce high blood pressure in diabetics. This happens by raising the levels of glutathione to protect bio-mechanisms that regulate arterial tone. Furthermore, alpha-lipoic acid prevents reperfusion injuries after ischemic injuries, i.e., harm done to tissue when the blood flows back into damaged vessels and leaks into the heart muscle after heart attacks.

The combining of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), vitamin E, grape seed extract, resveratrol, olive extract, green tea extract, quercetin, and Co-Q10 synergistically work together in the preventative action of oxidation of LDL cholesterol and the arteries much better than any working alone. All these antioxidants likewise aid reduce the risk of cancer by inducing apoptosis, the “self destruction” of cancer cells.

Olive oil and olive extract bestow unbelievable health benefits. There are peculiar powerful phenol antioxidants within the fruit of olives that are related with a substantial decreased risk of heart attack and cancer. The Mediterranean diet, in which olive oil is the important source of fat, has been shown to provide the longest lifetime and lowest incidence of heart disease and cancers. Many studies have shown olive oil reduces death from heart sickness by reducing atherosclerosis, plaque formation, letting down LDL cholesterol, preventing oxidation of LDL cholesterol, raising HDL cholesterol, and preventing unnatural and potentially lethal clot formation.

Researchers found that countries in which humans consumed the most eminent amount of olive oil had the lowest incidence of heart disease and cancers. People of Greece were found to have the most eminent consumption of olive oil, in particular those on the island of Crete. On Crete, persons traditionally consume 2 to 3 oz. of olive oil per day.

On the island of Crete heart impairment of normal physiological function and cancers have been rare; 37 times (not 37 percent, but 37 times) lower incidence than that found in the United States! In essence, we may think of heart disease and cancers as rare on Crete as scurvy and rickets are in the United States.

Anyone could consume 2 to 3 oz. of extra virgin olive oil each day to obtain these same benefits, but that would add when it comes to 500 to 750 calories to one’s diet and cost an further and added $100 U.S. per month. Then, there’s the problem that not all olive oil brands are consistent in their concentrations of antioxidants. The best way to get olive phenol antioxidants is to take a standardized, pharmaceutical-grade olive extract.

Are All Vitamins the Same?

In the last decade, the dietary supplements industry has grown tremendously. The fact that nutritional supplements do not receive the same regulation as prescription or over-the-counter drugs raises questions in the minds of a good deal of consumers. That’s why NSF became involved in devising the nation’s introductory genuinely independent testing usual and product certification program strictly for dietary supplements. Consumer Labs is another independent source assessing the quality of nutritional supplements.

Due to the independent testing and guaranteed pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practices I am convinced of the amount and quality of ingredients I am taking. Within my multi-antioxidant, which already has a full spectrum of other antioxidants, I get 30 mg of olive extract. The 30 mg of olive extract is equivalent to consuming 2 to 3 oz. of extra virgin olive oil per day. That would mean, even though I live in the U.S., I get the same gains as those on the island of Crete who have 37 times lower danger of heart disease and cancers than in the U.S.

Fish oil supplements: necessary fatty acids, peculiarly the type that comprise concetrated levels of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) along with EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), reduce oxidation of LDL cholesterol and inflammation of arteries, and thereby protect the heart. Most commercially available fish oil supplements consist principally of EPA, yet scientific proof shows it is the DHA element that is more effective in preventing heart disease. Worse is the concern for mercury – which is more of a problem with eating fish. The best counsel I may give is to find a pure fish oil supplement with concentrated DHA levels.

Once again, let us compare the effectiveness of statin drugs with something as simple as fish oil or flaxseed oil supplements. Statin drugs lower LDL, but that has not translated into significantly less heart attacks and death, because letting down LDL cholesterol is not the key to preventing disease.

However, the omega-3 necessary fatty acids, the parts in fish and flaxseed oils that make them so beneficial, actually do decrease death and disease. Fish oil and flaxseed oil reduce ventricular dysrrhythmias, platelet aggregation, and triglycerides. These oils serve to decrease the number of immune cells that cohere to arterial walls, and therefore reduce plaque formation. They likewise increase nitric oxide production, which lowers blood pressure. And, they reduce oxidation of LDL cholesterol!

Omega-3 fatty acids, as found in nuts, oily fish, and flax seed support protect LDL from oxidation, and accordingly act like “antioxidant” fats. These fats do not cause damage, do not solidify, and do not stick to the walls of the arteries. They get integrated into LDL cholesterol and protect it from being oxidized. Thus fish and flaxseed oil reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. There is no comparison amidst the “benefits” of statin drugs and the actual gains seen with omega-3 fatty acids.

In a study consisting of 11,323 persons who had suffered a heart attack within the former three months, fish oil supplements (850 mg of EPA=DHA) were shown to reduce the peril of sudden death and repeat heart attacks by 45%, and provide a 20% decrease in total mortality, versus placebo. Statin drugs don’t come close to fabricating those results. Additional studies assert these powerful and significant results.

A report published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in 2005 looked at 97 double-blind controlled studies comparing the efficacy of cholesterol letting down statin drugs to fish oil. They found that cholesterol-lowering statin drugs scaled down the danger of death from heart impairment of normal physiological function by only 13%, and interesting sufficient it was NOT due to the effect of letting down cholesterol. The benefits, altho small, were derived from the fact that statin drugs have a slight to modest antioxidant effect.

Even more interesting, the salmon oil was shown to reduce the risk of death from heart disease by 23%, almost double the gain of statin drugs. Salmon oil is an omega-3 fatty acid that gets integrated into cholesterol and triglycerides and prevents the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Since LDL cholesterol is protected from exuberant oxidation there is less plaque build up and less danger of heart disease.

Magnesium relaxes smooth muscles in the arterial walls, thence opening up arteries. It also helps incorporate calcium into the bones when intake of calcium and magnesium are the right way balanced, as in a good supplement. Magnesium helps maintain the rhythm of the heart.

Magnesium helps to reduce the risk of arrhythmias and other electrical dysfunctions following a heart attack.

Damage that leads to unnatural heartbeats is worsened by magnesium deficiencies. In addition to magnesium supplementation, researchers are finding promise in the higher rates of survival after heart attacks when high-dose antioxidants are commenced shortly after an attack. Apparently, antioxidants support prevent the mechanisms that lead to vasospasm (the spasm and closing off of little arteries) and blood clot formation. Magnesium may even support reduce the incident and severity of migraine headaches, particularly in combining with the other vitamins and minerals, in particular the grape seed extract and turmeric extract.

Fiber is necessary in the diet in order to reduce the peril of atherosclerosis. Fiber helps to control the rate at which sugar enters the bloodstream. Diets high in both soluble and insoluble fiber help reduce blood lipid levels, cholesterol, and insulin resistance. Most humans hardly consume five grams of fiber per day. However, our target will have to intermediate around 30 grams of fiber per day. High fiber and less simple and starchy foods are what constitutes a healthful “low-glycemic” diet. (For more data on a low glycemic diet, or weight loss program, please see the Weight Management section.)

The thought of taking some pills each day may be rather daunting for a great deal of people. Therefore, when I practiced medicine, and even now, my recommendations are for persons to take a full spectrum, pharmaceutical brand vitamin and solid homogeneous inorgani substance supplement that holds all the necessities that one needs in as few tablets as possible. Of course, there will be other supplements you will want to add to the necessary vitamin and solid homogeneous inorgani substance foundation, such as omega-3 fatty acids, grape seed extract, and co-enzyme Q10. However, if your necessary vitamin and solid homogeneous inorgani substance program is wide sectrum and completely balanced, then you will be getting most of the supplements discussed in this article.

To reduce the peril of chronic impairment of normal physiological functions it is critical to eat right, exercise, reduce stress, obtain adequate sleep, and supplement your diet with the rectify nutritional supplements. Most supplements do not comprise the amount or purity of ingredients listed on the bottle. Many supplements do not dissolve as they should, nor are readily abosrbable, …and if they are, they may not be in the most bio-available condition for the cells to utilize. You need to trust the company that is manufacturing the supplements that you suppose to support you maintain good health for a lifetime. You need to trust the potency, purity, and bio-availability. You must talk about all medical conditions with your physician, however, you may need guidance in regard to finding a quality nutritional supplement brand.

Get healthful and stay healthful with the principles discussed in this article. Applying these principles will mainly increase your prospects of living a long AND healthful life.

So far, I like what I see. I also own a Kindle 3 so that’s the only device I can really compare it to at this time (I think a comparison between other tablets and this Kindle is meaningless, this device is all about content and delivery):

Amermedacai Berry Extract 1000mg Formula 120ct Pack Of

Acai is a supplement with a lot of nutritional uses. Acai is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins, necessary fatty acids, and amino acids. In nature, anthocyanidins give a lot of fruits and flowers their colors. This pigment is where fruits hold much of their antioxidant powers. The colors of anthocyanidins are often times determined by whether an acid or alkili salt is present. When an acid salt is present then the color is reddish, when an alkili salt is present then the color is blue or violet. This product is conservatively dehydrated, removing around 5 elements of water from each 6 parts of the fruit, and cut into tiny flakes (not powder) and encapsulated without the use of any flow agents, fillers, or preservatives. The Acai used is dark purple, closely black, in color and when rubbed among fingers will leave an oily feel because of it’s high necessary fatty acid content. We have seen a couple samples from other vendors claiming to have extracts that do not have the color, nor oily feel of this product. This acai has no fillers, vegetable oil, preservatives, colors, or flavors added. This product is very high in quality.

I can’t believe I was fooled by this because I was actually looking for it – some of the other formulas are 500mg and advertise “1000 mg serving” and in an effort to avoid that I did worse. So, do the math accordingly; if you want 1000 mg/day, multiply by three. Other formulations are a better deal, especially since this one doesn’t have free Amazon shipping.

Acne control include unclogging the pores of the skin, demolishing bacteria and reducing exuberant oil, or, in other words, “Prevention”.

As the saying goes “an ounce of preventative action is worth a pound of cure”

With this in mind, what then are the best ways to prevent and control acne?

First of all do not forget the fundamentals of healthful living- nourish your body with good food, consume 6-8 glasses of water per day and undertake to get sufficient shut eye (8-9 hours is highly recommended).

A method of controlling acne that is not widely known is to take fish oil supplements on a regular basis.

Fish oils comprise EPA and DHA fatty acids as well as omega-3 and omega-6 oils.

These necessary elements manufacture prostaglandins in the humane body.

Prostaglandins are chemical hormones and they serve to maintain optimal functioning in all of the body’s organs and cells.

They keep androgen hormones, which cause the production of exuberant oil, in check.

Using mild soap-free cleansers such as Cetaphil, Dove, Purpose or Neutrogena helps keep the skin clear of dirt and surface impurities.

Exfoliating creams and masques are likewise good for acne control as they work to gently peel away dead skin cells. But make sure you don’t choose one that is overly abrasive.

Using an astringent or toner to rid your face of exuberant oil is an effective way to control acne as is using topical solutions containing benzoyl peroxide or sulfur.

Some acne sufferers find productions with benzoyl peroxide to be harsh or excessively drying to their skin.

Stress is a contributing element in acne growth so undertake to keep it to a minimum.

Too much stress becomes a vicious circle in that pressure triggers the production of more oil which in the long run causes more skin difficulties and the acne that results have a tendancy to stress out the sufferer even more.

I got super diligent about my skincare a few months ago because I was tired of being in my mid-twenties with the skin of a teenager. I tried Proactiv, but I was left with skin that was red, flaky, irritated, and STILL breaking out. Not exactly a great combination.

When I first tried this product, I have to admit that I was skeptical because everything else on the market seems to operate under the assumption that it has to be harsh to work. Thankfully Neutrogena made an effective acne product that doesn’t leave me red and flaky, even after a few months of use.

Morning: Neutrogena Acne Stress Power Foam Wash and this product. (Also, I use Neutrogena skin soothers stick concealer and L’oreal Bare Minerales foundation for my make-up.)
Night: Clean and Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub every other day (the Neutrogena scrub that’s supposed to go with this system made me break out), Neutrogena Acne Stress Power Foam Wash, this product, and then Neutrogena On-The-Spot treatment all over my entire face.

Everyone is different, so this might not work for you, but I hope you find something that does. Good luck!

Persons suffering from atherosclerosis often times have a specially high intake of refined sugar which, if not burned, is quickly converted into completely filled fat. Animals fed sugar rather of starch construct high blood cholesterol; and the necessary fatty acids in their blood and tissues decrease far more than when starch is fed. The blood cholesterol of healthful volunteers fell when they ate unrefined starches, but substituting sugar caused their blood fats and cholesterol to increase markedly. In the United States the consumption of such foods as potatoes, arid beans and peas, and whole-grain bread and cereals has unluckily decreased regularly while the sugar intake has increased and paralleled the rise in atherosclerosis. If we are to combat this disease, natural starches ought to be cherished and refined sugar restricted. The more deficient diets become, however, the dandier is the craving for both sweets and alcohol.

Every Nutrient Appears To Help Prevent Atherosclerosis

Pectin efficaciously reduces experimental high cholesterol. Vitamin B12 accelerates the production of bile salts, therefore decreasing the cholesterol in the blood. Lecithin increased markedly and cholesterols fell to normal when coronary persons who requires medical care were given 100,000 units of vitamin A every day for three to six months. Adequate protein causes the blood cholesterol to fall provided it is not received from well-marbled steaks or roasts accompanied with rich gravies and potatoes French-fried in hydrogenated fat. Alcohol not burned as calories and an excess of carbohydrate and/or protein are so speedily changed into completely filled fat that they cause the blood fats and cholesterol to increase as readily as if completely filled fats were eaten. Monkeys undersupplied with vitamin C fabricate cholesterol six times more quickly than do well-fed animals. Severe atherosclerosis in rabbits and guinea pigs has been corrected by giving huge amount – 50 times the normal requirement–of vitamin C; and the formation of bile acids and the excretion of cholesterol both increased. When persons who requires medical care with atherosclerosis and high blood pressure received big amounts of this vitamin, their blood cholesterols fell markedly and their blood pressure tardily dropped. The fact that toxic substances from cigarettes ruin vitamin C may in part explain why heavy smokers are susceptible to atherosclerosis.

Animals whose thyroid glands take up iodine readily are not susceptible to heart disease; and giving iodine to rats prevents atherosclerosis devised by feeding exuberant amounts of cholesterol. When 12 drops of 10 per cent solution of potassium iodide were given in milk three times each day to hospitalized coronary patients, in a single month the blood lecithin increased markedly, the cholesterols dropped, now and again as much as 125 milligrams, and the size of the fat and cholesterol molecules was reduced. Heart pain decreased, and the people who are in need of medical care felt “fresh and cheerful.” In cases where the basal metabolic rate had been low, or the speed with which the body utilizes energy was subnormal, it increased 11 to 28 per cent. Though adequate iodine with vitamin E stimulates the thyroid gland and therefore accelerates the utilization of cholesterol and fats, it has been peculiarly neglected.

Every assortment of animal permitted only two meals daily formulates severe atherosclerosis, but when the identical kind and amount of feed is taken in small, usual feedings, splendid health is maintained}87 Numerous little meals also rectify atherosclerosis even after it has become severe. Similarly, coronary persons who requires medical care given six or more little meals each and everyday rather than the same kind and amount of feed in one to three more prominent meals have without variation shown marked decreases in the blood fats and cholesterol. Stress makes atherosclerosis worse by increasing the need for nutrients required to utilise fats; and cortisone therapy, which simulates severe stress, speedily elevates blood fat and cholesterol. Stress is not inevitably damaging provided the increased requisites are met.

Though atherosclerosis is oftentimes considered to be hereditary, when 123 humans of two families, all of whom had excessively high blood cholesterols, were given bettered diets, their blood fats and cholesterols readily decreased.Such families undoubtedly have unusually high genetic necessaries for sure nutrients necessitated to implement fat.

When low-fat diets have been given to people who are in need of medical care with atherosclerosis, appetites have ordinarily become ravenous. Excessive calories, largely from starches and sugars, have been consumed and speedily changed to completely filled body fat, causing the blood fat and cholesterol to soar. The size of fat and cholesterol corpuscles has also become much larger; the amount of cholesterol changed to bile acids has principally reduced; and coronary people who are in need of medical care adhering to such a diet have become markedly worse. The American Medical Association has cautioned physicians not to commend such diets, but they are still being used.

Diets low in cholesterol have likewise achieved incisively the opposite from what was hoped. Such diets throw the liver into a frenzy of cholesterol-producing activity, causing the amount in the blood to increase. Conversely, liver biopsies showed that when volunteers were fed 3 or 4 grams of cholesterol daily-far more than would ever be received from foods-the production of cholesterol by the liver was “almost wholly suppressed.” Experimental heart disease has been produced with diets altogether devoid of cholesterol. Nevertheless, low-cholesterol diets have restricted so a heap of splendid foods that the very nutrients necessitated to implement fat and cholesterol have been decreased or omitted. Eggs have been condemned, their high lecithin and methionine content ignored. Even mayonnaise has been forbidden, yet it averages 52 to 67 per cent necessary fatty acids and 10 to 14 per cent lecithin. Volunteers recovering from heart attacks have consumed each and everyday for varying periods 10 eggs, 16 egg yolks, the fat from 32 eggs, and even 9 to 60 grams of pure cholesterol; their blood cholesterols have not increased provided the eggs were cooked without completely filled or hydrogenated fat.

Some experiments have shown that butter has increased blood cholesterol, yet people in Denmark, Switzerland, and Finland eat far more butterfat than we and have much less heart disease. Certain African natives obtain 60 to 65 per cent of their calories from butterfat, but all their foods are unrefined; they have no atherosclerosis, no heart disease, and their blood cholesterols intermediate an amazingly low 125 milligrams. In the days when atherosclerosis was unheard of in America, butter was slathered in or on practically each feed not cooked in cream. Butterfat appears to be a problem only when nutrients necessitated to apply it are undersupplied.

Lowering Blood Cholesterol

Though blood cholesterol varies constantly, that of persons with atherosclerosis is uniformly high, or commonly above 250 milligrams in in regards to a half cup of blood (100 cc). A group of people who are in need of medical care with heart sickness or cholesterol tumors had intermediate blood cholesterols of 259 and 423 milligrams respectively; and humans over 60 years of age with cholesterols above 260 milligrams have been found to have twice as a lot of strokes as others with cholesterols under 200. Physicians do not agree on the amount most compatible with health, but it appears to be underneath 180 milligrams. If a diet is adequate in each respect letting down the cholesterol to 180 milligrams or less is ordinarily not difficult. For example, one man whose cholesterol was 330 shortly after a heart attack speedily scaled down it to 170 milligrams and then more gradually to 121. Almost each week somebody whose cholesterol was formerly high tells me, “My doctor says my cholesterol’s now the lowest he has ever taken,” and quotes a figure ranging from 130 to 150 milligrams.

None of these humans has warded off eggs, liver, or butter but they did obtain magnesium, iodine, lecithin, yeast, skim or whole milk, the antistress formula, and supplements of vitamins A, D, E, and the B vitamins. A few have taken 250 milligrams each of cholin and inositol six times each and everyday for a short period. All were asked to reduce natural completely filled fats and to keep out of the way of each form of hydrogenated fats including anything prepared with them, such as French-fried foods and package mixes; and each had 1 tablespoons of mixed vegetable oils daily. Not only did the blood cholesterols decrease, but the appearance, energy, and ordinary well-being of these people may well be envied.

In correcting experimental atherosclerosis, it has been found that a heap of fatty deposits, exceptionally those in the arteries of the eyes and heart, stay long after the blood cholesterol is normal. Such a finding suggests that an adequate diet must be followed for months or years after evident recovery.

Have Your Cholesterol Determined Annually

Every person with a high blood cholesterol is a potential nominee for a heart attack, a stroke, high blood pressure, and/or respective abnormalities resulting from prolonged defective circulation. For this reason, each individual, irrespective of age, will have to have an annual blood cholesterol determination. If this figure is above 180 milligrams, prompt steps will have to be taken to lower it. Untold suffering and innumerable untimely deaths could be prevented were such a procedure followed. There is no proof that cholesterol alone causes ordinary atherosclerosis, strokes, or heart attacks, but an elevated blood cholesterol constantly comes with these abnormalities.

The best thing about this book is that it uses pretty basic ingredients that you can find at any grocery store. Other books I have with low cholesterol recipes had odd ingredients that I just won’t keep in stock normally. The recipes offered by the AHA cookbook identify with “real”, everyday people making the lifestyle transition much easier than I originally thought. The final outcome: Palate tantalizing dishes appropriate for the whole family.

It made cooking for a family of 4 super easy. The meals are delicious and healthy…although there are a few recipes that didnt fit my taste.

At first, you do end up spending more at the grocery store to buy all the new spices & a few new ingredients, but eventually, the cost tapers down. Our weekly grocery bill averaged around $150.00 for a family of 4 adults which included 3 meals a day with snacks. So, I have to say that it is pretty cost efficient as well.

By cooking directly from this book, eating about 1600 claories a day, and walking on the treadmill 20 minutes a day, I went from 286 lbs down to about 215 lbs in 3 months. At that point, I got a gym membership and cut back on my calories just a little bit more (down to 1500). I am now 138 lbs and have been able to keep it off so far.

This book definately gave me a good kickstart to to getting my weight down (and giving my heart a break). I would recommend it in a heartbeat!!!

Byrne
My husband was put on a low-fat diet so I picked up this cookbook because I liked that it was by the American Heart Association. Every recipe I’ve made has been delicious! (with the exception of one dessert which was just okay, but low-fat desserts are tough) I will say though, that this cookbook can’t be called quick and easy. As someone else mentioned, I have to plan in advance so I can pick up all the ingredients at the grocery store. You also have to make sure to allow plenty of time for cooking the meal. Nothing has been very fast, although it’s nothing overly complicated for this basic chef.

All-in-all, I would recommend this cookbook to anyone trying to eat healthier as I think it’s an easier transition when the food tastes good, and these recipes definitely do!

A alter in your diet may unquestionably and in a positive manner give you a drastic betterment in your skin’s appearance. This article is all with regards to showing you the best foods and nutrients that you need in order to achieve a great looking flawless and acne free skin.

By following the guidelines of the diet, your acne will get started to heal more quickly and within weeks, you must detect a great betterment in your acne condition.

The best diet for curing acne is one that is rich in vegetables, fruits, quality protein, and good fats aka necessary fatty acids.

Obviously, vegetables and fruits play a huge role in this acne clearing diet. Fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, carrots, apples, oranges, and citrus fruits are rich in vitamins and solid homogeneous inorgani substances which are required to maintain good health, healthful skin, and more inviolable immune system.

At the same time, fruits and vegetables likewise incorporate another very indispensable substance, and that is fiber. Fiber is the most primary substance to make sure good bowel movement. It helps your body to cleanse and detoxify itself at a more effective rate.

The lack of fiber in your diet may also boost the growth of the yeast, candida albicans, which disrupts your body’s hormonal remainder and immune strength. The overgrowth of candida albicans has been closely affiliated with stubborn and severe acne breakout.

Zinc

Zinc is another very indispensable nutrient for flawless clear skin. Zinc promotes good immune system. Other than that, zinc also works to regulate the action as well as the intensity of the sebaceous glands. By eating more zinc rich foods, you will be competent to improve your immune system as well as reducing the amount of facial oil invented and freed by the sebaceous glands.

Good feed roots of zinc include oysters, wheat germ, soybeans and oats. But in my opinion, the easiest and best way to supplement your body with this solid homogeneous inorgani substance is by taking a good multivitamin supplement. Most of the time, such a supplement provides regarding 15mg of zinc per tablet, which is also 100% of zinc’s RDA.

Dairy Products

Many of us grow up consuming dairy merchandise such as cheese, butter, and milk. The truth is that researchers have now uncovered that high dairy consumption increments the occurrence of acne

Chromium

This solid homogeneous inorgani substance is responsible for effective control of blood sugar level and the metamorphosis of glucose. If your diet is chromium-deficient, then your body will likely experience more insulin and blood sugar fluctuations, which may likewise increase the production of testosterone.

As you might already know, testosterone increments oil production and causes clogged pores and in the long run the formation of acne.

The Clear Skin Diet

While acne has long been a problem for adolescents, in recent decades – the last fifty years quintessentially – acne has been on the rise amongst adults as well, exceptionally among women. Many scientists have traced his upsurge to changes in the dietary habits of North Americans.

The Clear Skin Diet is designed to aid those who suffer from acne to understand:

  What it is

Why they have it

What it has to do with their eating habits

And what they may do to prevent it or lessen it is impact

Modern exploration shows:

That there is a strong causal connection amongst sure kinds of foods and acne.

That sure fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids, protect versus acne, while others, completely filled or trans fats, may advertize acne by increasing the level of inflammation and oxidative stress in the skin.

Culinary herbs like ginger and turmeric are known to dampen acne breakouts.

These same dietary stresses likewise influence the level of the hormones that cause acne. While fruits and vegetables, green tea, soy, fish, berries, and fiber-rich whole foods lessen these androgens, meat and milk promote these acne-related hormones, as do sugar and low-fiber carbohydrates.

There likewise is a strong causal connection among the brain and the skin. When a person experiences anxiety and depression, acne-producing hormones are released, which may lead to poor dietary selections high in completely filled fats and sugars.

The Clear Skin Diet introduces the acne diet and lifestyle. Dietary requisites for protecting the skin are listed – along with suggested feed supplements when they can not be without apparent effort met – and summarized, as well as mind-body medical interventions that may influence acne hormones and lessen their impact. Also included are 50 acne-preventive recipes, along with data on how one may locate the ingredients that are not readily available in most grocery stores.

Zampino
This is arguably the most important book on skin care in the last decade. It is not about hearsay, old wives tales etc, and it is not based on opinion or testimonials it is about scientific advances that have clearly shown that diet and acne are linked beyond any doubt. In addition to the updated diet and acne research from Harvard, Australia and other centres, there are some 300 scientific references in the back to support the connections. I thought it was an interesting combination of authors, a naturopathic doctor and a conventional dermatologist, and this seems to pay off for the reader. The chapters provide scientific explanations for why sugar, milk and so-called bad fats can promote acne. On the other hand, they also describe why whole grains, fibre, antioxidants, omega-3 fish oil and green tea can help acne. The authors provide shaded boxes for some specific anti-acne nutrients like zinc, selenium and some others, and they explain why acne patients may need more of these nutrients and where they can be found in foods. I liked the stress-acne chapter, how stress influences dietary choices, and the guidance on stress management was appropriate. This book should be in every high school library and the waiting room of every dermatologist’s office.

I find it very unfortunate that the American Academy of Dermatology has continued to perpetuate the myth that diet is not linked to acne. As someone who has made the choice to lead a healthier lifestyle, I was essentially following this diet for the past several months before I even read the book. I could see wonderful changes in my skin in addition to other changes (lost 30 lbs, was no longer tired and achy). I no longer had monthly flare-ups of the female adult acne, no longer had a drab complexion.
Statins are a class of drugs designed to block the production of cholesterol by the body, with the effect of letting down a patient’s blood cholesterol levels. According the modern medical mythology, the use of these drugs at long last lowers the patient’s peril for coronary heart disease.

These drugs are exceedingly dangerous. There are huge volumes of reports detailing the horrid and oftentimes permanent side effects of taking these drugs. They include:

Severe muscle cell harm leading to a fatal kidney condition called rhabdomyolysis. The debris from the dying muscle cells releases myoglobin, a substance which damages the kidneys, causing failure.

Muscle pain and weakness which cannot be reversed.

Neurological difficultnesses including international transient amnesia, memory loss, learning handicap and confusion.

Statins may cause congestive heart failure by interfering with the metabolization of necessary fatty acids.

They interfere with metabolic pathways having to do with neuropeptide formation, leading to increased hostility, aggression and depression.

Statins likewise block the production of crucial cell chemicals such as CoQ10 enzymes which compounds the harm they cause.

Statins are likewise linked to the a much dandier peril of manufacturing diabetes as a “side effect”.

There are host of other side effects, including pancreatitis, an increase in respiratory contagions and pneumonia, peripheral neuropathy, skin rashes and sexual dysfunction.

Ironically, the reason for taking these dangerous drugs is to “fix” a condition that IS NOT life or health threatening for most people. Elevated cholesterol levels are not a health risk, and “cholesterol” is not an suitable target to treat with dangerous drugs.

The hypothesis that elevated levels of cholesterol cause arterial plaque is misguided and incomplete. Cholesterol is used by the body to repair arterial harm invented by inflammatory constituents such as elevated insulin levels. The source of the inflammation ought to be treated, not the band-aid of the cholesterol fix function.

Cholesterol is not a health threat. It is a substance that is ESSENTIAL to LIFE. Lowering it with drugs has the aftermaths noted above because it plays a role in the most critical body functions, including brain cell connection formation, muscle strength, tendon maintenance, vitamin A and D metabolism, necessary fatty acid metabolism, and the formulate of hormones which regulate the blood levels of salt, water and calcium, and other critical metabolic processes.

Cholesterol is a substantial player in the moderation of mood, and low levels have been linked to increased aggression, hostility and depression. In fact, cholesterol is so important to physical life, the body will make cholesterol if you don’t eat enough.

This self regulation element makes it very difficult to use a low fat diet alone to lower your cholesterol levels, because as you lower your fat intake, your body increments it is cholesterol production. In order to get cholesterol levels underneath the commended 200 mg/dl, you have to take cholesterol letting down drugs.

How commodious for the pharmaceutical companies and those who gain financially from drug sales that only prescribed, costly drugs will lower cholesterol to the “healthy” level that our nutritional experts recommend.

On the counsel of the National Institutes of Health, and the urging of pharmaceutical company representatives, physicians are prescribing these cholesterol letting down drugs in ever dandier numbers. Expensive statins such as Advicor, Lipitor, Crestor, Pravachol and Zocor are being prescribed to millions of Americans each day, in spite of the proof of the major injure they cause.

According to Consumer Reports:

Monthly prescriptions for statins rose 3.9%, from an intermediate 12.6 million per month in the amount of time October 2005 to May 2006 to an intermediate 13.1 million per month in the amount of time June 2006 to December 2006 – a gain of a good deal of 500,000 prescriptions per month.

Just recently, the Jupiter study hailed statins as a new “cure” for persons with elevated rates of CRP (C-Reactive Protein) which is a marker for inflammation within the body. What the media and the promoters of statin drugs don’t tell you is that the risk reduction from the study was minimal, giving careful consideration to the horrid side effects of statins, and it cost the persons who requires medical care $3.50 a day to take these drugs.

In addition, other studies have shown that plain old, cheap magnesium supplements work much better to lower CRP at a much less danger of danger. Doctors will have to treat the underlying cause of the inflammation with less dangerous options.

Statin Drugs Side Effects And The Misguided War

If you are on a statin drug or are thinking of going on a statin, this completely referenced book, Statin Drug Side Effects, is a “must read” for you. The unacceptable bequest of statin drug use at today’s high doses is a trail of chronic aches and pains, numbness, weakness, confusion, fatigue, shortness of breath and even heart failure in hordes of unsuspecting victims. Only by knowing this information, and in consultation with your healthcare professional, may you make an informed decision with regards to your health care. If you are a user of Vytorin, Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor, Mevacor, Pravachol or Lescol you must read this book. Most of the statin side effects I talk about are unknown to your busy doctor. Although welleducated when it comes to muscle and liver problems, few have heard of statin amnesia and other forms of memory dysfunction and less still associate hostility, aggression and unfathomed depression as statin related. As a former astronaut, aerospace medical exploration scientist, flight surgeon and family doctor, I was appalled by the lack of data in the medical community on the full range of side effects of the statin drugs. This book is a comprehensive reference source and summary of side effects of statin drugs.

Kauffman
This book focuses on the side-effects of statin drugs used “to lower cholesterol” or LDL-cholesterol. Its author has been an astronaut, aerospace medical research scientist, flight surgeon, family physician for at least 10 years, writer (including novels), and holder of a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH). Still, he enjoys being known as “Spacedoc”. But what makes him super-qualified as author of Statin Drug Side Effects (SDSE) is that he has experienced two episodes of transient global amnesia himself after taking Lipitor(tm).

If you have a stuffed nose and can’t breathe, Nyquil or another decongestant will provide easier breathing for sleep. On the true preventive side of things, having a pregnant woman take folic acid and other supplements absolutely prevents neural tube defects. And making sure that growing children consume calcium and get sun exposure (or take Vitamin D) absolutely prevents rickets and other bone problems.
So does taking a statin reliably prevent a heart attack? Absolutely not! The true statistics show that statins might lower the absolute risk of a cardiac event by just one or two percent over placebo. But the drugmakers use a statistical trick called “relative reduction in risk” to artificially boost this small difference, which is the way they’ve convinced their sales people and the prescribing physicians to believe in this giant scheme. If 7 percent of placebo users suffer a cardiac event over five years, while about 5 percent of statin users have one, that’s an absolute reduction of just 2 percent over five years. But the drugmakers state publicly that it’s a “relative reduction in risk” of almost 30 percent, which mathematically is correct. But it’s not ethically correct, in my judgement.
And for that one or two percent increased chance of avoiding a cardiac event, side effects occur in far greater percentages of users, and some of these side effects are severe and dangerous. Dr. Graveline’s important book points this out in truthful, objective and honest ways. In fact, numerous studies have shown that statins do not increase mortality statistics.
As Dr. Kauffman, Dr. Rosch, and the other reviewers have written, Dr. Graveline’s book is a critically important one. It should be required reading for all prescribing physicians.

Rosch
This concise but comprehensive compendium not only lists the cornucopia of statin side effects, but also clearly explains the mechanisms of action responsible for their insidious side effects. Many of these dangerous complications, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders that have been skillfully concealed or denied by statin manufacturers are just now beginning to surface. As Dr. Graveline emphasizes, in blocking cholesterol, which is essential for neuronal communication in the brain, statins also interfere with the synthesis of Coenzyme Q10, dolichols and NF-kB (nuclear factor kappa B), vital nutrients crucial for energy production, neuropeptide synthesis and proper immune system function. He also discusses the important role of homocysteine in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and the fallacies of current dogma that perpetuates the high fat diet’ high cholesterol’ heart attack myths. Equally valuable is a chapter devoted to statin alternatives that are certainly much safer and can be more effective for many, especially senior citizens and women of any age. The author, who is a physician with impressive credentials, became interested in this subject after suffering two episodes of global amnesia. His previous book, Lipitor, Thief of Memory, details this and similar memory problems experienced by many others. Since then, he has established a web site www.spacedoc.net that now includes reports of over 7,000 patients who have experienced documented statin side effect. As also emphasized, statins have been the best selling drugs ever for several years. This meaty book should be required reading for the many millions of patients that take them and the hundreds of thousands of physicians who prescribe them.

Acai Berries are fruits harvested manually in the Brazil rain forests. The flavor of this fruit is closely similar to a blend of berries and chocolate. Within it is purple pigment lie the amazing capablenesses that made it natures’ perfective energy fruit. Acai berry comes packed with amino acids, antioxidants and necessary fatty acids.

Even altho Acai berry may not be available in your local supermarket, you may be capable to buy them in gourmet stores (usually in juice form) or health feed stores. There is also another product that features the unsweetened pulp, and this is the version of acai berries that I highly recommend.

Here are a good deal of nutritional facts when it comes to the Acai berry that you will have to recognise about. Acai fruit or pulp contains:

- An unbelievable concentration of antioxidants that help in combating untimely aging, having 10 times more antioxidants equated to red grapes and 10-30 times more anthocyanins than red wine. The Acai is fantastically healthful and a can’t missed ingredient in your daily diet.

- A combining of dietary fiber, monounsaturated (healthy) fats, phytosterols that help publicize digestive and cardiovascular health. The Acai berry also helps you cleanse and flush out toxins and wastes stored inside your colon, liver, and whole system. This is the main reason why you are fat and sentiment fatique in the original place.

- An closely idealisti amino acid complex in combining with important trace solid homogeneous inorgani substances that is crucial for proper muscle regeneration and contraction. It’s important to have sufficient vitamins and solid homogeneous inorgani substances to maximize your full body potential and the Acai berries support you do just that.

The Acai fatty acid content is similar to that of olive oil. It is rich in monounsaturated oleic acid that is necessary for a potpourri of reason. It helps omega-3 fish oils to penetrate to the cell membrane while also helping to make the cell membranes suppler by working together. By sustaining the cell membrane’s suppleness, all neurotransmitters, insulin receptors and hormones function much more efficiently.

This is primary particularly because high levels of insulin construct an inflammatory state. This inflammation causes aging as we all know. The Acai superberry is outstanding for keeping your body young and healthful while giving you much more energy and strength to fight diseases. Consuming Acai berry fruits or juices likewise prevent you from the nasty disease colon cancer because it help clean the colon and total systems.

Schultz
It appears this product contains Omega’s, but no where on the package does it state it’s ORAC value. The ORAC value is what most people are looking for in an Acai product. It doesn’t blend too well with liquid. I won’t be buying this product again. The shipping was fast and I would recommend the seller, just not the product.

It seems to be a hit or miss if you buy this product it might come out good or bad. These powder seems to come in two different packaging one is purple and other is green, I tried both and they seems to taste bad. BTW also tried perfect acai which is costlier but the taste is much better then this one and also it state the ORAC ingredients etc upfront

Brody
I went into this product with high hopes, but came out feeling like I was duped. First off, if you put this just in water, it tastes absolutely terrible. Might as well throw some stevia in there. Also, this stuff will cake on the sides of any glass or water bottle you put it into. Doesn’t mix well at all.

Lastly, all this “ORAC” hype, yet I noticed absolutely zero benefits of taking it. I noticed about the same effects I would get if I ate a strawberry. ONE strawberry.

Overhyped, overpriced product. Spend your money elsewhere.
