Like most of us, I get stressed out, and was looking for an easy to use technology that would help me be more relaxed. So I found the new EmWave Mac Stress Relief System that is simple to use, and teaches you as you use it with it’s ‘coaching’ software that you install on your Mac or PC. The idea is to learn to breathe and use your emotions in a positive way by changing your heart rhythm patterns and creating physiological coherence or harmony in your body, that enhances your daily life. That intrigued me, and it works! Doc Childre, who created EmWave for Mac found that heart rhythms reflect coherence levels, that one could optimize these psychological states with work. Like athletes who get in the Zone, this approach teaches us to get into our Zone. This technology goes beyond just monitoring one’s heart rate, it measures beat to beat changes, displaying the patterns, called heart rate variability, or HRV. and this leads to coherence, and the active display shows how you’re doing, I found helpful.

How it works is interesting, and I saw quick improvement. I loaded the software on my iMac, and then plugged in the USB pulse monitor to the Mac, and clipped it onto my ear. I started a ‘session’ and started seeing my pulse rate display, it wasn’t relaxed at all. It uses a visual approach so you can watch the changes in your approach and know you’re getting results. Gradually I’ve improved, and see it in my daily life.
