<p>Recently  on  &#8220;America&#8217;s  Got  Talent&#8221;  a  75  year  old  woman  performed  a  song  and  dance  routine.    (This  reference  is  not  to  the  Rappin  Granny  who  was  outstanding.)</p>
<p>Before  she  started out  I  mentally  cheered  her  on  with,  &#8220;You  go  girl!&#8221;  I  was  reminded  of  a  CD  an  older  woman  sent  to  me  that  captured  her  singing  performance  at  a  local  nightspot.  She  was  fantastic.    And  why  not.    if  Tony  Bennett  at  80  something  may  still  sing,  others  may  do  it  too.</p>
<p>As  it  turned  out,  the  contestant  did  not  have  a  million  dollar  talent.    How  I  wish  she  had  been  sensational.  Because  we  are  living  longer,  more salubrious  lives,  we  desperately  need  accomplished  older  role  models  to  show  us  what&#8217;s  possible  late  in  life.</p>
<p>I  many times  mention  Dr.  Helen  Harkenss,  author  of  Don&#8217;t  Stop  the  Career  Clock,  who  has  inspired  me  more  than  I  may  say.  (I  can&#8217;t  disclose  her  age  because  I  don&#8217;t  know  it,  she  doesn&#8217;t  tell,  and  it  doesn&#8217;t  matter  anyway.    It&#8217;s  her  achievements  that  count,  not  her  progressed  age.)</p>
<p>Other  role  models  of  mine  include  80  something  David  Oreck  who  still  promotes    his  vacuum  cleaners.  Compare  his  sharp  agile  mind  and  youthful  demeanor  to  that  of  a heap of  retirees  his  age  whose  brains  and  bodies  have  turned  to  mush.</p>
<p>Then  there  is  90  something  Art  Linkletter  who  writes  books  and  does  almost  non-stop  speaking  gigs.    When  I  was  interviewed  for  his  book,  How  to  Make  the  Rest  of  Your  Life  the  Best  of  Your  Life,  he  and  I  disagreed  regarding  living  in  retirement  communities,  but  we  got  beyond  that.  He  has  a  flexible  open  mind  and  may  see  other  points  of  view.</p>
<p>How  with regards to  90  plus  Jack  LaLanne,  a  testament  to  the  gain  of  lifelong  super  nutrition  and  exercise.  He  oozes  energy.  How  may  you  watch  his  juicer  infomercial  and  not  want  to  buy  two  of  them?</p>
<p>Recently,  I  watched  a  video  that  is  genuinely  awesome.  I  found  it  in  &#8220;Celebrations&#8221;  the  official  newsletter  for  Older  Wiser  Women(TM).  It  shows  80  something  Yvonne  Dowlen  Ice  skating,  and  doing  it  very  well.    When  I  tell  persons  I  ice  skate,  (not  very  well,  but  determination  springs  eternal!)  a  mutual  response  is,  &#8220;Aren&#8217;t  you  scared  of  falling?&#8221;    Well,  yes  and  no.  I  am  more  affrighted  of  stepping  off  a  curb  and  turning  my  ankle,  which  I  have  done  on  more  than  one  occasion.</p>
<p>Fear  is  once in a while  a  healthful  thing.  It  makes  us  stop  and  think.  If  forces  us  to  face  reality.  On  the  other  hand,  unreasonable  fear  keeps  us  from  doing  what  we  want  to  do  and  know  we  could  do  if  we  tried.  And  if  only  we  weren&#8217;t  kept  back  by  a  nagging  inner  voice  that  warns,  &#8220;Be  careful.  You&#8217;re  too  old  to  do  that.&#8221;    We  need  role  models  like  Yvonne  Dowlen  to  aid  us  get over  an  age-based  irrational  fear  of  trying.</p>
<p>The  video  likewise  makes  clear  that  if  you  want  a  youthful  flexible  body  in  your  older  years,  you  have  to  commence  early  to  keep  what  you  have.    You  can&#8217;t  wait  until  you  are  65,  abruptly  realize  that  you&#8217;ve  closely  altogether  lost  all  youthful  competence  and  determine  to  undertake  to  recapture  what&#8217;s  lost.  While  galore  betterment  is  always  possible,  the  longer  you  wait  to  reclaim  what&#8217;s  gone,  the  more  difficult  it  is.  A  sedentary  body  rebels  at  being  forced  to  do  what  it  in truth  doesn&#8217;t  want  to  do  anymore.  There  is  not one thing  worse  than  realizing  &#8220;It&#8217;s  too  late.&#8221;  As  entertainer  Eubie  Blake  was  known  to  say,  &#8220;If  I  had  known  I  would  live  this  long  I  would  have  taken  better  care  of  myself.&#8221;</p>
<p>Whatever  age  you  are  now  is  a  good  time  to  take  better  care  of  yourself.  The  younger  you  are  when  you  start out  the  having little impact  it  is.  And  it&#8217;s  veritably  helpful  if  you  may  find  an  inspiring  role  model  to  look  to  for  encouragement.</p>

<p>Section One deals with the theories of aging and ends by delving into the various body systems that are affected by the aging process.</p>
<p>Section Two goes into the endocrine system. Entire chapters are devoted to growth hormone, melatonin, oestrogen, testosterone and thyroid hormone. The authors give us the facts on how these hormones affect or are affected by the aging process. Supplementation is mentioned, but the authors made no attempt to &#8220;sell&#8221; anything.</p>
<p>Section Three deals with nutritional supplements. The list is quite exhaustive and make a very good reference for anyone considering supplementation. Here again, the reviews are quite balanced. No &#8220;miracle&#8221; nutrients and contraindications are mentioned as well.</p>
<p>Section Four deals with lifestyle factors in anti-aging. Topics include diet, detox, exercises, anti-stress tips, skin care and protection from pollutants. A lot of unsurprising, unsensational yet sound advice here.</p>
<p>Section Five gives us insight into what some health gurus do to stay fit and healthy. It won&#8217;t be easy for any of us holding a fulltime job in the city to follow. There is also mention of stem cell research and other cool stuff that will be coming our way soon.</p>
<p>Section Six provides a glossary and some references as well as a directory of anti-aging resources.</p>
<p>The greatest thing about this book, is that it is &#8220;scientifically&#8221; written by 2 doctors who live up to their professional training. Aimed only at informing and educating the reader, it provides nothing sensationally pro this or anti that. If you can only afford one book on this topic, buy this one.</span></p>

Others  may  suck  the optimisti feeling that all is going to turn out well  and  serenity  right  out  of  you.  Vampires  do  more  than  drain  your  physical  energy.  The  super-malignant  ones  may  make  you  believe  you&#8217;re  an  unworthy,  unlovable  wretch  who  doesn&#8217;t  is worthy of  better.  The  subtler  species  inflict  harm  by  making  littler  digs  which  may  make  you  feel  bad  regarding  yourself-for  instance,  &#8220;Dear,  I  see  you&#8217;ve  put  on  a  few  pounds&#8221;&nbsp;  or  &#8220;You&#8217;re  overly  sensitive!&#8221;</p>
<p>Suddenly  they&#8217;ve  thrown  you  with regard to emotions  off-center  by  prodding  your  areas  of  shaky  self-worth.  To  protect  your  sensitivity,  it&#8217;s  necessary  to  name  and  combat  these  vampires.  The  conception  struck  such  a  collective  chord  in  my  second  book  that  in  my  latest&nbsp;one  I  illustrate  how  it  applies  to  protecting  your  emotions  and  not  absorbing  other  people&#8217;s  negativity.  In&nbsp;it  I  talk about  these  vampires  to  watch  for  and  ways  to  deal  with  them.</p>
<p><strong>Signs  that  You&#8217;ve  Encountered  an  Emotional  Vampire</strong></p>
<p>o&nbsp;&nbsp;  &nbsp;Your  eyelids  are  heavy-you&#8217;re  ready  for  a  nap<br />
<br />o&nbsp;&nbsp;  &nbsp;Your  mood  takes  a  nosedive<br />
<br />o&nbsp;&nbsp;  &nbsp;You  want  to  binge  on  carbs  or  ease  foods<br />
<br />o&nbsp;&nbsp;  &nbsp;You  feel  anxious,  depressed,  or  negative<br />
<br />o&nbsp;&nbsp;  &nbsp;You  feel  put  down,  sniped  at,  or  slimed</p>
<p><b>Tips  on  How  to  Recognize  an</b>  <strong>Emotional  Vampire  and  Protect  Yourself</strong></p>
<p><strong>Vampire  #1:  The  Narcissist</strong></p>
<p>Their  motto  is  &#8220;Me  first.&#8221;  Everything  is  all  when it comes to  them.  They  have  a  grandiose  sense  of  self-importance  and  entitlement,  hog  attention,  and  crave  admiration.  They&#8217;re  dangerous  because  they  lack  empathy  and  have  a  fixed  capacity  for  unconditional  love.  If  you  don&#8217;t  do  things  their  way,  they  become  punishing,  withholding,  or  cold.</p>
<p><b>How  to  Protect  Your  Emotions</b>:  Keep  your  expected values  realistic.  These  are  with regard to emotions  fixed  people.  Try  not  to  fall  in  love  with  one  or  suppose  them  to  be  selfless  or  love  without  strings  attached.  Never  make  your  self-worth  dependent  on  them  or  confide  your  deepest  sensations  to  someone  who  won&#8217;t  cherish  them.  To  with great success  communicate,  the  hard  truth  is  that  you  ought to  show  how  something  will  be  to  their  benefit.  Though  it&#8217;s  better  not  to  have  to  contend  with  this  tedious  ego  stroking,  if  the  kinship  is  unavoidable  use  the  above  systems  to  achieved  desired  results.</p>
<p><strong>Vampire  #2:  The  Victim</strong></p>
<p>These  vampires  grate  on  you  with  their  &#8220;poor-me&#8217;  attitude  and  are  allergic  to  taking  obligation  for  their  actions.  The  world  is  always  versus  them,  the  reason  for  their  unhappiness.  When  you  offer  a  solution  to  their  troubles  they  always  say,  &#8220;Yes,  but.&#8221;  You  might  end  up  screening  your  calls  or  deliberately  refrain from  them.  As  a  friend,  you  may  want  to  aid  but  their  tales  of  woe  overwhelm  you.</p>

<p>These  people  obsessively  undertake  to  control  you  and  dictate  what  you&#8217;re  supposed  to  be  and  feel.  They  have  an  sentiment  in regards to  everything.  They&#8217;ll  control  you  by  invalidating  your  emotions  if  they  don&#8217;t  fit  into  their  rulebook. <p><b>How  to  Protect  Your  Emotions</b>:  The  mystery  to  success  is  never  try  and  control  a  controller.  Be  healthily  assertive,  but  don&#8217;t  tell  them  what  to  do.  You  may  say,  &#8220;I  value  your  counsel  but  in truth  need  to  work  through  this  myself.&#8221;  Be  convinced  but  don&#8217;t  play  the  victim  or  sweat  the  little  stuff.  Focus  on  high  priority  issues  rather  than  on  putting  the  cap  on  the  toothpaste.  &nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Vampire  #4:  The  Splitter  or  Borderline  Personality</strong></p>
<p>Splitters  see  things  as  either  good  or  bad  and  have  love/hate  relationships.  One  minute  they  idealize  you,  the  next  you&#8217;re  the  enemy  if  you  disturb  them.  They  have  a  sixth  sense  for  knowing  how  to  pit  persons  versus  each  another  and  will  retaliate  if  they  feel  you  have  wronged  them. Then  we  may  talk.&#8221;  Refuse  to  take  sides  when  he  or  she  tries  to  turn  you  versus  an individual  else. There is no doubt in my mind that what Mesich describes is possible, because my own experiences are similar, though I&#8217;m not as vulnerable to other&#8217;s emotions as she is.  The idea that this empathic ability might contribute to recurring depression was a mind-blower to me, but immediately obvious once it was pointed out.  It has completely shifted my own approach to dealing with depression, with very positive results (in the six weeks since I read it).  *However*, if you share this book with your non-sensitive friends and family members, be prepared to endure skepticism and even ridicule.  It&#8217;s pretty &#8220;out there&#8221; for people who haven&#8217;t had similar experiences.  In fact, my only major objection to the book is that she writes as someone from &#8220;inside&#8221; the alternative medical field, without an objective standpoint to explain or defend her statements in a way that will stand up to those who by default, automatically dismiss anything not backed up by randomized double-blind studies with p of less than&#8230;whatever.  <img src='http://www.consumersratingproducts.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />   For people of this ilk, I&#8217;d recommend starting with one of Elaine Aron&#8217;s books instead.</span></p>

Conner<br />I would like to add my story to the other comments.  I never thought that I was a highly sensitive person when I picked up this book, but I have been sick my entire life (migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, etc. etc. etc.)and have tried just about everything to make my life less painful.   I decided to try the primary flower essence of Yarrow, per Dr. Mesich&#8217;s recommendation.  Within 2 days I started noticing dramatic changes in my health.  I mean, really bizarre and unexpected changes.  For example, I have always suffered from night sweats, and they vanished.  It was usually painful to take a shower and shampoo because my skin was too sensitive, and all of a sudden my skin no longer felt raw.  I have always worn glacier sunglasses, because my eyes hurt, even on a cloudy day, and that symptom vanished also.
<p>I purchased some more of the &#8220;protection&#8221; flower essences she recommends, and each worked in a different way, but they made my health even stronger, I had more energy, I had less headaches, etc.  It was only after my health improved that I was able to notice my extreme sensitivity to certain things, such as noise, and negative people.  I had been so ill most of the time, that I didn&#8217;t know what my triggers were.  My health had simply been overwhelmed.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve made more physical progress in 3 months than in the last 20 years, and all because of this book.  It would take pages to describe all the changes in my body and health that have happened, and are still happening.</p>
<p>If you or anyone you know is perpetually ill with one thing or another, ***get this book and try it***.</p>

Based on her own personal experiences of debilitating sensitivity while working as a psychologist, she discovered that visualization, meditation and flower essence therapy are crucial components in the development of positive sensitivity and empathy.

<p>Exercise:  We&#8217;re  not  lazy  people,  there&#8217;s  just  so  a lot of  things  to  do.  If  you  may  make  time  for  brushing  your  teeth,  you  may  make  time  for  exercise.  Get  up  a  half  hour  earlier  each  morning  and  do  20  minutes  of  exercise.</p>
<p>It  may  be  any  exercise,  including  using  that  info-product  you  purchased  on  late  night  TV  (Who  didn&#8217;t?).  It  doesn&#8217;t  have  to  be  a  struggle.  It  just  has  to  get  done.  Remember,  I  said  commitment?  We  aren&#8217;t  attempting  to  move  a  mountain.</p>
<p>Motivation:  This  is  where  you  make  or  break  your  success.  If  you  may  discipline  yourself  to  keep  an  inspirational  book  of  a good deal of  kind  by  your  bedside  and  do not forget  to  read  a  chapter  a  night,  you  will  stay  on  track.  If  you  cannot,  chances  are  beauteous  good  you  won&#8217;t  stay  on  course.</p>
<p>Yes,  it  takes  motivation  to,  um,  keep  yourself  motivated.  That&#8217;s  pure  sarcasm  for  you.</p>

Broncheau<br />Perfect little machine for the home hobbiest.  I bought this machine for sheet metal work and the ocassional 1/4&#8243; chunk.  Cuts like butter through thin steel, takes a little more time on the 1/4&#8243; stuff.  But its alot cheaper to operate on sheet metal and mild steel than oxy-acetylene.  Best feature of this unit is not having to adjust a single thing, no air pressure, no amperage adjustment.  Just pull the trigger and cut away.</span></p>

The unit is like they say plug in and play. I found it very easy to fit into my Hobart upright cart along with my Hobart Handler 140 (also an awesome welder) so if you&#8217;re concerned about size, don&#8217;t be, it&#8217;s about the size of 2 six packs. Key features I like about it are that I don&#8217;t need to use my air compressor on it, it has one built in. This way I don&#8217;t have to adjust the regulator or any. Also, it only throws sparks about 1-2ft, I&#8217;ve heard horror stories of Plasma cutters throwing sparks for 4-6ft. I&#8217;m working in a small one car garage and I don&#8217;t like having to worry about fires and such when working. Now as for cutting depth. The book states it can do 1/4in thick steel. I believe if you have perfect conditions it can do this with a pass or two. I have found in my own experience that it will at least cut 1/8th to 3/16th. (I had to cut off my rear frame off my car and it worked great.) And as for 20-22gauge steel, it&#8217;ll cut through that like butter. </p>
<p>Now the cons, he ground cable isn&#8217;t very flexible. It seems almost as if it were solid wire instead of stranded. I&#8217;m comparing this to my welder&#8217;s ground cable and it is much more flexible. Another con is that I&#8217;m not very good at it so it keeps turning on and off and when it turns off you have to wait for the compressor to refill (3-5sec) before you can start again. Not a huge con but annoying if impatience is a character trait. It does however run rather quiet, I can talk over the sound of the compressor. Other than that I can&#8217;t really thing of other draw backs. They do come with a 3 year warranty from Hobart, I called hobart up and I talked to one of their repair technitions and he said he barely ever gets plasma cutters in, they mostly get welders that have been on the job site for 10-15 years. So I do agree that hobart is an AWESOME BRAND. So I my point with that is don&#8217;t be afraid to purchase one used for a couple bucks less. It&#8217;s worth it! I guess that about wraps it up. </p>
<p>Final Notes: I would recommend this to a friend for medium to light duty cutting. I would not recommend this to a daily use shop. I would suggest a size a bigger than this. </p>
<p>Biggest Con: Ground Cable flexibility<br />Biggest Pro: Aircompressor built in and uses 115v 20amp circuit.</span></p>

I had difficulty cutting even 14 gauge steel.  I had to go extreemly slow, and got a very sloppy cut, because the power was so slow.    It came with a extreemly cheap tip guide, made of a piece of bended wire.  This kept rotating as it passed along my straight edge, causing further frustration.  [...] I guess you just expect more.  </p>

If  you&#8217;re  sentiment  &#8220;all  tied  up&#8221;it  is  likely  that  your  brain  waves  are  scrambled. Some  of  my  favorites  include  the  three  tapes  I  purchased  for  exercise:  Breakthrough  Training,  Running  Meditation,  and  Power  Training.  I  like  the  Power  Training  tape  the  best,  as  her  guided  imagery  is  exceedingly  motivating.  The  ones  I  like  the  least  work  on  Weight  Loss  and  Creating  Wealth,  as  the  guided  imagery  seemed  gorgeous  elementary.</p>
<p>I  think  any individual  who  wants  to  enlist  the  power  of  your  mind  to  support  increase  your  motivation  would  be  mesmerized  in  these  products.  I  have  commended  them  to  friends  who  had  disturb  sleeping,  or  others  who  were  facing  a  health  issue  or  couldn&#8217;t  get  past  procrastinating  and  get  on  with  their  dreams,  but  I  think  the  greatest  and  most  direct  aid  will  be  for  those  who  are  experiencing  and  can&#8217;t  stop  their  mind  running  long  sufficient  to  be  as  originative  as  they  recognise  they  may  be.</p>

<p>I  have  found  all  of  that  to  be  true.  How  does  that  work?  These  audiotapes  send  incisively  tuned  sound  waves  on  dissimilar  frequencies  through  your  brain  thru  headphones.  The  science  is  that  dissimilar  vibrations  or  sound  frequencies  resonate  with  each  other  to  form  what  your  brain  considers  a  third  or  binaural  beat  it.  Your  brain  resonate  sympathetically  with  this  beat  and,  effortlessly,  the  sound  frequencies  remainder  the  left  and  right  hemisphere  of  your  brain  permitting  originative  energies,  calmness,  and  heightened  learning.</p>

<p>As  I  said,  I&#8217;ve  applied  these  productions  for  a  number  of  reasons.  I  rate  the  power  tape  as  my  favorite,  because  I  find  it  both  motivating  and  it  keeps  me  moving.  A  girlfriend  found  that  it  did  not  work  for  running,  because  it  was  too  slow.</p>

I  find  that  I  come  back  to  the  ones  I  like  best  over  and  over  and  have  employed  a  assortment  of  her  tapes  for  almost  a  year.  That  other  persons  feel  the  same  is  evident  from  the  testimonials  on  her  website.  They  assert  that  Kelly&#8217;s  MP3  files  facilitate  the  same  state  as  meditation,  biofeedback,  and  induce  calmness  or  ability to create  and  excitement  as  appropriate. It does seem to releive some stress that tends to build up in my brain after a hard days worth of thinking (which I do a lot of in my line of work &#8211; computer system programming).  Definately I can think better and even spell better after listening to this CD (so there are concrete results to this CD).  I won&#8217;t say that this CD removes all the tension in my brain nor is a cure all or anything, but it definately works for some people.  If you aren&#8217;t the person who&#8217;s brain continually gets stress from overwork (like computer programming or whatever), then this CD is probably not necessary for you.  Most of this CD sounds like bubling water sounds with tingly bell-like sounds in the beginning.  There&#8217;s a 2nd track that seems to be the exact same as the first track.</span></p>

Miller<br />I can not say enough positive things about this CD.  I am a Kelly Howell fan and have many of her works, but this CD is one of my favorites.  When I need to be focused and alert, but find it difficult due to stressors, I slip my headphones on and start listening to this CD.  Soon I feel relaxed and ready to tackle the task on hand.  The beats might not appeal to some because they seem repetitious, but for me they soon fade into the background and do really massage my brain.</span></p>

It has delivered much more than help with the Migraines.  I feel more focused and less stressed.  I sleep more soundly and have found it also has helped me to feel balanced and confident as well.  The CD is well done, with clear audio.  Very soothing and relaxing.</span></p>
