<p>On  most  pet  feed  labels,  there  will  be  a  statement  indicating  that  the  feed  is  &#8220;complete  and  balanced&#8221;  for  a  queer  life  stage  of  the  pet  (there  are  only  two:  growth/reproduction  and  adult).</p>
<p>A  pet  feed  may  be  labeled  as  &#8220;complete  and  balanced&#8221;  if  it  meets  AAFCO  standards.  There  are  two  methods  for  achieving  this:  (1)  meeting  published  standards  for  content,  or  (2)  feeding  tests.  If  a  feed  does  not  meet  either  of  these  standards,  it  will  be  labeled  &#8220;for  intermittent  and  supplemental  feeding  only.&#8221;  Such  foods  are  fine  as  treats  or  for  short  periods  of  time,  but  will have to  not  be  fed  as  the  sole  diet.  Keep  in  mind,  too,  that  the  standards,  such  as  they  are,  set  only  &#8220;minimums&#8221;  and  &#8220;maximums,&#8221;  not  &#8220;optimums.&#8221;  Commercial  pet  foods  are  designed  to  be  adequate  for  the  intermediate  animal,  but  may  not  be  suitable  for  an  person  animal&#8217;s  variable  needs.</p>
<p>(1)  Nutrient  Profiles.  These  standards  set  the  required  amounts  of  protein,  fat,  vitamins,  minerals,  and  so  forth.  When  adopted  in  1989,  they  were  the  best  data  available  on  canine  nutritional  needs.  New  exploration  was  published  in  2003  that  provides  up-to-date  information,  but  new  standards  are  still  in  the  routine  of  being  adopted  by  AAFCO  and/or  the  states,  and  are  not  presently  being  followed  by  pet  feed  manufacturers.</p>
<p>Moreover,  any  manufacturer  may  synthesize  a  feed  containing  sufficient  amounts  of  each  ingredient  according  to  the  Nutrient  Profiles,  yet  dogs  may  not  do  well  on  it  because  the  standards  do  not  address  the  issues  of  &#8220;bioavailability&#8221;  of  nutrients  to  the  animal.  Certain  forms  of  vitamins  and  minerals,  for  example,  are  poorly  absorbed  from  the  digestive  tract.  A  noted  veterinary  nutrition  textbook  claims  that  a  feed  may  be  devised  from  old  leather  boots,  wood  shavings,  and  crankcase  oil  that  will  meet  the  technical  necessaries  for  protein,  carbohydrates,  and  fats,  yet  would  be  altogether  indigestible.  Unfortunately,  given  the  ingredients  employed  by  numerous  manufacturers,  &#8220;Old  Boot&#8221;  may  be  closer  to  the  truth  than  any individual  wants  to  admit!</p>
<p>(2)  Feeding  Trials.  These  are  considered  the  &#8220;gold  standard&#8221;  of  pet  feed  formulation.  However,  when  you  look  at  the  actual  AAFCO  protocols  for  an  adult  maintenance  diet,  a  manufacturer  must  feed  totally  the  test  feed  to  only  six  animals  for  six  months.  (Eight  animals  are  required  at  the  outset;  however,  two  of  them  may  be  dropped  from  the  trial  for  non-diet-related  reasons.)  Foods  intended  for  growth  and  reproduction  ought to  be  tested  for  only  10  weeks.</p>
<p>Most  of  the  large,  reputable  pet  feed  producers,  such  as  Iams,  Hills,  Walthams  and  Purina,  maintain  huge  colonies  of  dogs  and  cats,  and  test  their  foods  on  hundreds  of  animals  over  years  or  even  multiple  generations.  Other  makers  rely  on  facilities  that  keep  animals  for  this  intent  to  do  the  studies  for  them.</p>
<p>It  is  easy  to  see  how  a  poor  quality  diet  could  be  fed  for  only  six  months  without  seeing  averse  health  effects,  and  legitimately  be  labeled  as  meeting  AAFCO  standards.  In  fact,  studies  have  confirmed  that  even  foods  that  pass  feeding  tryouts  may  still  be  perfectly  inadequate  for  long-term  maintenance.</p>
<p>Worse  still  is  AAFCO&#8217;s  &#8220;family  rule&#8221;  which  was  to a considerable degree  promoted  by  the  pet  feed  industry.  This  rule  declares  that  foods  that  are  &#8220;nutritionally  similar&#8221;  to  a  feed  that  has  passed  an  actual  feeding  test  may  likewise  carry  that  claim.  The  &#8220;similarity&#8221;  need  only  be  that  the  foods  have  a  similar  calorie  content.  This  leaves  the  &#8220;feeding  test&#8221;  label  as  a  exclusively  undependable  indicator  of  the  quality  of  the  food,  and  it is  status  as  a  &#8220;gold  standard&#8221;  in  severe  doubt.</p>
<p>Life  Stages.  As  noted  above,  there  are  only  2  life  stages  recognized  by  the  AAFCO  standards:  adult  maintenance,  and  growth/reproduction,  which  includes  puppies  and  kittens  as  well  as  pregnant  and  lactating  (nursing)  mothers.  Foods  claiming  adequacy  for  &#8220;All  Life  Stages&#8221;  meet  the  higher  nutritional  requirements  of  growth/reproduction.</p>
<p>This  means  that  there  are  no  distinguished  standards,  and  thence  no  regulatings  about,  feed  for  &#8220;senior&#8221;  or  &#8220;mature&#8221;  pets,  foods  designed  for  &#8220;Yorkshire  Terriers&#8221;  or  &#8220;Persian  Cats,&#8221;  or  foods  for  &#8220;high  performance&#8221;  or  &#8220;indoor&#8221;  animals.  These  designations  are  strictly  selling  hype.  Yes,  the  ingredients  may  be  a  little  different,  or  the  protein  or  fiber  content  may  have  been  manipulated,  but  each  single  niche  feed  will have to  still  meet  one  of  those  same    two  basic  requirements.  A  assert  of  &#8220;light&#8221;  or  &#8220;reduced  calories&#8221;  does  have  to  be  a  sure  share  less  calories  than  the  feed  it  is  being  equated  to,  but  whether  such  foods  genuinely  aid  pets  lose  weight  in  a  healthful  manner  is  highly  debatable.</p>

It even gave me the opportunity to learn the benefits and the cost of each one of the treatments. This book has been a wonderful resource in helping me write my college thesis paper. I feel anyone who is looking for a better understanding of any or all of these alternative therapies will not find a more informative book.</p>

<p>Lately,  my  friends  and  associates  have  noticed  I  participate  a  lot  more  in  political  and  medical  discussions.    They  seem  to  think  I  have  become  a  talent  in  the  political  arena  (I  recognise  in regards to  super  delegates,  McCain&#8217;s  ongoing  gaffes  regarding  Iraq  and  Iran).  They  are  impressed  at  my  apparent  psychological result of perception learning and reasoning  of  numerous  of  the  latest  medical  news  (let&#8217;s  talk  stents  versus  surgery,  the  gains  of  clinical  trials,  and,  lest  we  forget,  the  importance  of  compression  only  CPR).  And  on  Monday  mornings,  I  may  go  on  evermore  with regards to  the  latest  events  that  were  on  public  television  and  public  radio  news  (not  to  mention  my  bestloved  game  show).</p>
<p>Not  only  that,  but  as  I  become  this  learned  genius,  I  am  also  getting  a  more  active  person.    Why,  it&#8217;s  a  win-win  situation.</p>
<p>So,  you  may  ask,  what  precisely  have  I  been  doing?    What  awful  exercise/current  events  program  have  I  enrolled  in?    Where  may  one  go  to  become  active  AND  smart  at  the  same  time?</p>
<p>It&#8217;s  easy.    I&#8217;m  walking.  As  I  walk,  I  listen  to  my  podcasts.    Several  times  a  week,  I  update  my  recordings  with  the  most  recent  news  from  respective  sources,  as  well  as  medical  updates  from  a  huge  medical/teaching  hospital.    Some  of  the  newsprints  likewise  have  daily  health  updates,  so  I  get  them,  too.</p>
<p>There,  you  have  my  secret.    It&#8217;s  so  very  interesting  to  be  competent  to  go  outside  (it  is  starting  to  warm  up  here  in  New  England,  which  means  I  only  wear  two  layers  and  a  scarf,  rather  of  snow  pants  and  a  hat),  put  these  little  earbuds  into  my  head,  and  all of a sudden  I  am,  as  they  say,  off  and  running.</p>
<p>If  the  show  is  genuinely  interesting,  I  will  walk  the  extra  steps  just  to  get  to  the  end  of  it,  whether  it is  news  or  medical  information.  It  is  actually  rather  painless,  and,  as  a  science  geek  and  political  junkie,  very  enlightening.</p>
<p>Of  course,  I  realize  everyone  doesn&#8217;t  percentage  my  selections  in  radio  and  news  shows.  My  hope  is  to  use  my  experience  with  using  technology  to  get  me  walking  steadily  to  motivate  you  to  get  moving!!  You  need  to  recognise  there  are  ways  to  become  more  active  without  giving careful consideration to  the  psychological  pain  of  getting  your  body  in  gear.    I  suppose  it  is  a  distraction  for  me,  and  I&#8217;m  not  thinking  &#8220;oh  dear,  I  need  to  walk  another  twenty  minutes  to  meet  my  self  prescribed  goal.&#8221;    Rather  I  find  myself  thinking  with regards to  the  dissimilar  humans  whose  voices  I&#8217;ve  come  to  get enjoyment from  talk about  current  events.</p>
<p>Maybe  you  don&#8217;t  like  politics,  and  that&#8217;s  perhaps  a  good  thing.    You  may  find  galore  other  topics  of  interest  to  you  on  line-any  one  of  which  would  feed  your  mind  while  bettering  your  fitness.    Music,  cooking  shows,  why,  a heap of  colleges  post  lectures  that  may  be  loaded  onto  music  players  to  keep  you  company  as  you  get  your  exercise.</p>
<p>My  mystery  doesn&#8217;t  just  employ  to  walking  either,  you  know.    If  you  don&#8217;t  like  to  walk  outside,  but  prefer  cycling  or  the  treadmill,  you  may  just  as  effortlessly  listen  on  the  machines.    Now,  if  you  are  a  swimmer,  I&#8217;m  scared  I  can&#8217;t  support  you  there.</p>
<p>So  if  you  find  yourself  calling for  motivation  to  get  moving,  undertake  my  suggestion.    Not  everyone  wants  to  whistle  while  they  work,  but  surely  you  may  listen  while  you  walk.</p>

Burnett<br />This is a great book. I have referred friends to it. The first day I was only able to read 30 pages and learned A LOT just in those 30 pages. This product did absolutely NOTHING for me/to me.  I do watch my portions and I do exercise.  To make matters worse, when I decided to return it, I realized I needed a return authorization number from them or they would not even accept the product.  When I went to ask for the number, nobody would return my messages.  Soon, after contacting Amazon for help (thanks AMAZON!), they sent an email with a number and instructions.  I also received a NASTY phone message the very same day from them, though&#8230;&#8230;DON&#8217;T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!  Don&#8217;t forget, on top of all of this, you only receive a partial refund.</span></p>

I realized now that the manufacturer of this useless product, his friends or employees, seeing all these bad reviews, started to place some positive reviews, to entice the unknowing consumers. I fell into the trap and lost $32.00<br />The persons who wrote that is was a scam were absolutely right. When I called &#8220;All Web Nutrition&#8221; to ask for a refund, I was told that I needed to write them a letter explaining why I was dissatisfied. I told the lady &#8220;Because your Lipovarin is no good and doesn&#8217;t work&#8221; She replied, &#8220;That&#8217;s not a good enough reason.&#8221; She gave me an authorization number and said I needed to return the empty bottle by UPS and they will also keep 25% of the money I paid for this product. <br />I asked why do I have to return an empty bottle and why are you charging me 25% for restocking fee? You cannot restock an empty bottle and charge me for it? She replied &#8220;We are not responsible if the bottle get lost in the mail, so you must be able to show proof of return with a UPS tracking number.&#8221; (She was basically telling me, that if I return the empty bottle by normal mail, they can claim that they never received it and refuse to refund me any money). <br />What about the 25% adm. charge to restock an empty bottle? She said that&#8217;s their business and company policy and there is nothing that I can do about it.&#8221; How rude!!<br />If &#8220;All Web Nutrition&#8221; were to advertised lipovarin on their web page by saying &#8230; &#8220;Try Lipovarin And &#8230; If You Don&#8217;t Loose Any Weight &#8230; It will Cost you $32.00&#8243; <br />Would anyone try it? ABSOLUTELY NOT !! But this is exactly what it cost me and what it will cost you if you try it. Learn from my mistake.<br />$7.00 = UPS charge to have the bottle send to me <br />$18.00 = their 25% restocking fee &#8230; (they only refund 75%&#8230;how dishonest!!) <br />$7.00 = UPS charge to return the empty bottle to them<br />TOTAL = $32.00 that is cost me and will cost you, &#8230; to try their useless product.<br />Do you understand now that it&#8217;s all a scam. <p>This one is one that actually works.  If you feel a bit under the weather &#8211; usually just before a cold takes hold OR the night after drinking a tad too much, this product will bring you out of your funk.</p>
<p>If you have tried Wheat grass but hate to deal with the flats, possible upset stomach (from the mold issue) OR feel they overprice the flats &#8211; try this.  It is easy to store, not bad tasting, and is noticeable in the mornings. </p>

<p><b>Stress  affects  our  nutritional  status  in  two  <i>specific</i>  ways:    </b></p>

<p>I  recognise  this  seems  like  a  tall  order.  In  fact  your  friend  or  co-worker  may  have  told  you  it&#8217;s  not  possible  or  even  worse  your  doctor.  The  truth  is  that  I  have  came across  numerous  aweinspiring  foods  for  athletes  and  I  recognise  that  90%  of  athletes  do  not  consume  these  foods  on  a  regular  basis.  And  I  say  this  because  most  people  I  meet  have  either  never  heard  of  them,  do  not  know  where  to  get  them,  or  just  are  habitually  eating  whatsoever  they  could  afford,  is  most  commodious  or  is  portion  of  their  family  eating  history.</p>

<p>There  is  a  lesson  to  be  learned  from  our  history  of  technical  advances.  Think  when it comes to  it.  When  personal  computers  went  mainstream,  we  quickly  abandoned  our  typewriters.  The  introduction  of  DVD&#8217;s  saw  the  eventual  demise  of  VHS  and  almost  all  forms  of  videotape.  And  perchance  most  impressive,  a  towering  wave  of  cell  phones  and  mobile  communication  has  crashed  hard  on  a  generation  of  payphones.  So,  in  the  spirit  of  nutritional  advances,  it  must  come  as  no  surprise  that  today&#8217;s  vitamin  C  offerings  are  light  years  in front  of  what  we  had  a  few  years  ago.</p>
<p>Of  course,  this  isn&#8217;t  to  infer  that  the  Vitamin  C  we&#8217;ve  been  taking  for  all  these  years  was  in  a lot of  way  ineffective.  Traditional  Vitamin  C  supplements  have  served  the  industry  well  for  over  70  years  and  will  always  have  their  place  in  humane  wellness.  But,  as  with  any  genre  of  science-based  health  products,  it  would  be  difficult  (and  unfair)  to  ignore  the  potential  of  similar  productions  that  show  such  strong  promise  in  bettering  the  quality  of  our  lives.  We&#8217;ve  laid  witness  to  this  before;  primary  in  1957  with  the  introduction  of  CoQ10,  and  then  again  in  the  1970&#8242;s  with  fish  oil  and  omega-3  fatty  acids.  Fast  forwarding  to  the  dawn  of  this  2nd  millennium,  we  once  again  find  ourselves  at  the  cusp  of  a  revelation  that  will  most  surely  pave  a  path  of  good  health  for  decades  to  come.</p>
<p>So  without  further  ado,  let&#8217;s  take  a  closer  look  at  Amla&#8211;the  new  king  of  vitamin  C.</p>
<p>The  use  of  Amla  fruit  <i>(Emblica  officinalis,  Phyllanthus  emblica)</i>  has  been  a  rudimentary  portion  of  India&#8217;s  exercise  of  Ayurvedic  Medicine  for  centuries,  and  is  one  of  the  planet&#8217;s  most  concentrated  roots  of  natural  vitamin  C.1  And  in spite of  centuries  of  use  in  Ayurvedic  medicine,  most  health-savvy  buyers  are  still  incognizant  of  just  how  concentrated  it  veritably  is.  So  to  support  put  things  in  better  perspective,  let&#8217;s  do  a great deal of  simple  comparisons.</p>
<p>It  has  been  approximated  that,  gram  for  gram,  Amla  fruit  extracts  integrate  as  much  as  35  times  as  much  vitamin  C  as  limes,  30  times  more  than  oranges,  and  a  mind-boggling  160  times  more  than  apples.  That  said,  100  grams  of  Amla  will  distinctively  yield  over  500  mg  of  vitamin  C.2      What&#8217;s  even  more  impressive,  the  vitamin  C  found  naturally  occurring  in  Amla  is  non-acidic  and  hence  won&#8217;t  cause  the  uneasiness  that  a great deal of  have  experienced  when  taking  traditionalisti  vitamin  C  supplements.3</p>
<p>This  helps  illustrate  two  very  powerful  points  of  interest.  First,  Amla  appears  to  be  an  exceedingly  potent  antioxidant  that  utilizes  a  natural  source  of  vitamin  C.  The  vitamin  C  in  Amla  bonds  with  tannins,  thence  preventing  it  from  being  destroyed  by  light  and  heat.  This  helps  ascertain  better  utilization  within  the  body.  Next,  supplementing  Amla  makes  it  possible  for  people  with  respective  stomach  and  digestive  sensitivities  to  reap  the  life-enhancing  gains  of  a  compound  they  might  other than as supposed or expected  be  unable  to  take.4</p>
<p>As  brought up  earlier,  these  high  concentrations  of  vitamin  C  have  made  Amla  a  staple  amid  Ayurvedic  practitioners.  And  while  much  of  this  may  be  attributed  to  the  extract&#8217;s  strong  antioxidant  properties,  Amla&#8217;s  potential  extends  far  beyond  healthful  cells.  Research  proceeds  to  show  that,  based  on  it is  distinguishable  profile  of  active  constituents,  Amla  seems  to  offer  a  number  of  beneficial  effects  that  could  not  be  achieved  by way of  synthesized  natural-form  vitamin  C.  We  now  know  that  Amla  holds  noteworthy  amounts  of  cytokine-like  substances,  such  as  zeatin,  z.  nucleotide  and  z.  riboside,  amidst  rich  concentrations  of  solid homogeneous inorgani substances  and  amino  acids.5</p>
<p>Based  on  it is  cooling,  antipyretic,  antiseptic  and  rejuvenating  properties,  Amla  has  been  evenly  revered  for  the  role  it  plays  in  digestion.  So  much  in  fact,  that  it  is  one  of  the  three  main  fruits  that  comprise  Triphala,  a  digestive  tonic  that  holds  Amla,  Harada  and  Behada  fruits.  Long  before  it  piqued  the  interest  of  vitamin  C  researchers,  the  use  of  Amla  was  considered  by  some  Ayurvedic  practitioners  to  be  highly  effective  in  rejuvenating  the  digestive  system.6  It  has  mild  laxative  properties  that  give hope or courage to  normal  digestion,  helps  in  the  utilization  of  fats  and  cholesterol,  modulates  immune  function,  facilitates  the  elimination  of  toxins,  fortifies  the  liver,  supports  normal  cholesterol  remainder  and  prevents  lipid  peroxidation.  And  because  of  it is  strong  antioxidant  properties,  Amla  may  aid  fight  free  radicals  within  the  GI  tract.7,8</p>
<p>Regardless  of  how  you  choose  to  look  at  it,  Amla&#8217;s  complex  profile  of  naturally  occurring  compounds  makes  it  one  of  the  most  versatile  extracts  available  to  ever  hit  the  buyer  market.  Be  sure  to  look  for  a  formula  that  holds  <i>Phyllanthus  emblica</i>  extracts  yielding  at  least  50%  natural  ascorbic  acid,  by  weight.</p>

P. Wakamatsu<br />This is a great book for the general public as well as naive health care professionals to learn about Natural Medicine.  EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A COPY OF THIS BOOK AND STUDY IT.  YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT.  I have learned that I am eating totally wrong and am setting myself up for a cardiovascular disaster.  And I&#8217;m a doctor and should know better!  Now I can set things straight.
<p>Yeah, I&#8217;m an M.D. and have been trained to treat my patients with chemicals (Allopathic Medicine), but I have been trying to expand my knowledge base about the practice of medicine and luckly stumbled on Dr. Murray&#8217;s Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine.  </p>
<p>I will integrate what I have and will learn about Natural Medicine in my everyday practice (and my own life!).  I feel that, with certain exceptions, Natural Medicine should be tried first.  Only when that fails or is inappropriate should Allopathic Medicine be used.</p>

So, why only 3 stars? &#8211; because of the missed potential.  I think I have read every word in every one of Dr. Murray&#8217;s books. With  minor changes and adaptations, this encyclopedia brings together the texts  of 3 of his major books: the one on herbs, the one on nutritional supp.,  and the previous encyclopedia.  What&#8217;s wrong in that? &#8211; the fact that we  got a very heavy book of over 900 pages with not much more new info.  I was  surprised to find out that none of the other reviewers mentioned the fact  that this book still does not have a chapter on Cancer!! My feeling is that  Drs. Murray &amp; Pizzorno did not forget the second leading ailment of  this era &#8211; at this moment, they are probably finalizing their next book,  this time a whole book on cancer.  As a professor of Medicine and a cancer  researcher I feel that an encyclopedia of natural medicine that has not  even one chapter on cancer prevention and natural medication is a &#8220;bug  2000&#8243; bearing item.  Another aspect &#8211; this days, such an encyclopedia  would be better &#8220;printed&#8221; on a CD, with an advanced search  engine, rather then on paper.  One last word, the book suffers from some  faults and &#8220;deletions&#8221; of very important info, but unfortunately  there is no way one can contact Drs. Murray or Pizzorno and discuss these  faults directly with them.  No e-mail address, nor fax number is provided.   I would recommend them to contact me before they issue the 3rd edition of  this encyclopedia. So, should you buy this book? &#8211; the answer is definitely  yes. Just as I said: this is the best book available, though not the  perfect one these two authors could write&#8230;</span></p>

<p>Sound familiar? Isn&#8217;t is strange how we rely so heavily on a slick 30-second spot we see on the boob tube to give us our surface knowledge about what is good and healthy for us? But what we don&#8217;t know about how wrong some of these common medical myths are has led to 200,000 deaths a year in America and there is one man who has set out to help you protect yourself from becoming the next victim in this national marketing scam.</p>

<p>If you are &#8216;placed on&#8217; aspirin, cholesterol or blood pressure drugs or are facing chemotherapy, this book will give you the perspective you need to help you make your own informed choices and to educate your doctor as well. If you benefit by just dropping one expensive non science supported drug from your daily regimen, this book is worth many times its price, and you&#8217;ll likely be healthier for it.  For example, if you&#8217;re a woman or older person, you&#8217;ll learn that your $3/day cholesterol-lowering drug will not extend your healthy life &#8211;so say the studies.  And, 1 week of Lipitor saved pays for this book!</p>
<p>Knowledge is power and Dr. Kauffman has done a remarkable job assembling of some of the more vital studies and this with surprisingly few (minor) glitches for a book of this type.  With &#8216;modern medicine&#8217; arguably the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States, can you afford not to know this book?</p>
<p>One final remark: it is smart to know the medical facts beforehand since hospitals now pride themselves with how few minutes it takes to get a balloon with a metal stent into your artery. <p>The  best  exercises  to  lose  fat  are  bodyweight  exercises!</p>
<p>Here  are  some  of  the  mutual  ones:  push-ups,  pull-ups,  chin-ups,  dips,  reverse  push-ups,  and  squats.  Why  are  they  so  good?  In  all  of  these  exercises,  your  torso  is  moving  through  space  and  that  brings  in  stabilizer  muscles  (the  more  muscle  fibers  recruited  the  better  the  exercise).  In  addition,  the  body  senses  &#8220;danger&#8221;  in  these  types  of  exercises  and  that  engages  the  central  nervous  system. You  may  liken  this  to  dropping  a  bomb  on  your  enemy  (fat)  so  that  the  follow  up  attack,  i.e.  cardio,  will  have  an  more comfortable  time  finishing  off  the  job.</p>
<p><strong>Train  This  Powerful  Muscle  Group  For  Excellent  Fat  Loss  Results  </strong></p>
<p>I  will  describe  one  of  the  better  body  constituents  to  train  if  you  want  to  lose  fat  fast&#8230;your  legs.  (although  this  is  an  splendid  muscle  to  work,  you  want  to  train  your  whole  body  for  great  results).</p>
<p>The  legs  are  a  very  strong  body  percentage  and  may  push  a  lot  of  weight.  Thus,  this  muscle  group  requires  a  lot  of  focus  when  trained,  and  the  intensity  may  be  incredible.  And  like  I  cited  earlier,  when  you  increase  the  intensity,  you  not  only  burn  more  calories  for the duration of  the  workout,  but  after  as  well  (the  after-burn).</p>
<p>Because  of  the  power  in  your  legs,  most  people  would  need  to  add  more  resistance  such  as  weights  to  increase  the  intensity  of  the  squat.  But  what  if  you  don&#8217;t  have  a  barbell  (with  squat  racks)  or  heavy  dumbbells  at  home?  Is  there  another  way  to  increase  the  intensity?  Yes!  And  I&#8217;ll  show  you  how  right  now.</p>
<p><em>NOTE:  Although  the  following  is  not  a  finish  workout,  you  ought to  always  get  clearance  from  your  doctor  before  starting  any  exercise  program.</em></p>
<p><b><u>1  Leg  Squat:</u></b></p>
<p><u>Step  1</u>:  Get  a  chair  because  you  are  going  to  ultimately  sit  on  it.  If  you&#8217;re  not  very  strong,  you  will  want  a  higher  chair.  Conversely,  if  you&#8217;re  very  strong  you  won&#8217;t  need  a  chair  because  you  will  sit  on  the  floor  (but  I  doubt  a great deal of  of  you  are  this  strong).  Toilet  seats  are  a  pretty  difficult  level  for  most  people.  Now,  stand  erect  in  front  of  your  seat  of  choice  with  chest  out,  two  hands  straight  out  in  front  of  you,  and  one  leg  out  in  front  of  you  (at  when it comes to  a  30  degree  angle  or  so).</p>
<p><u>Step  2</u>:  Keep  your  planted  leg  shin  as  vertical  as  possible  all around  the  whole  range  of  motion.  This  wards off  stressing  the  knee  (the  patella  tendon).</p>
<p><u>Step  3</u>:  With  your  arms  and  one  leg  in  front  of  you,  <i>slowly</i>  lower  yourself  down  on  to  the  chair.  Remain  in  control  and  focus  on  not  just  dropping  yourself  into  the  seat.  We  want  to  work  the  muscle  as  much  as  possible.</p>
<p><u>Step  4</u>:  Once  you&#8217;ve  reached  the  sitting  position,  lean  back  just  a  little  past  vertical  before  you  rock  yourself  forward.  Keep  your  torso  as  erect  as  possible,  and  push  yourself  back  up.  You&#8217;ll  have  to  lean  forward  a  bit  to  get  up  but  <i>avoid</i>  hunching  your  back  so  you&#8217;re  over  your  knees  as  you  push  up.  This  will  get  the  butt  (gluteus  maximus)  and  hamstring  muscles  involved  for  a  outstanding  overall  leg  workout.  Keep  the  rock  forward  nice  and  tame  to  refrain from  having  too  much  instinctive  help  you  up  (again,  you  want  your  muscle  to  work  as  much  as  possible).  Remember,  your  arms  and  other  leg  will have to  be  kept  in  front  of  you  all around  the  motion  and  your  planted  shin  must  be  as  vertical  as  possible.</p>

It makes no sense. I like Slim-Fast. It works in weigh control and is a great meal replacement when you&#8217;re in a rush, but I&#8217;ll buy up as many cans as I can locally and then they&#8217;ve lost my business. I&#8217;m not paying more for less in a container I can&#8217;t recycle.</span></p>

<p>At  approximately  the  age  of  35  the  body  starts  to  break  down  at  a  more  rapid  rate.  One  of  the  reasons  for  this  decline  in  health  is  the  reduction  in  the  release  of  adult  stem  cells  into  the  blood  stream,  a  supply  which  is  readily  available  in  your  very  own  bone  marrow.</p>
<p>Stem  cells  are  the  very  essence  of  life.  When  a  sperm  unites  with  the  egg,  the  very  initial  cell  formulated  is  a  stem  cell.  Also  known  as  &#8220;master  cells,&#8221;  a  stem  cell  has  the  capacity  to  discern  into  other  cell  tissue  types.  This  capacity  allows  the  stem  cell  to  become  a heap of  dissimilar  types  of  cells  as  necessitated  by  the  body  and,  therefore,  act  to  aid  optimal  organ  and  tissue  function. Quite  recently,  however,  it  has  been  ran into  that  adult  stem  cells  may  have  that  same  wide  reaching  potential.</p>
<p>TRACKING  AN  ADULT  STEM  CELL</p>
<p>It  was  the  invention  of  a  fluorescent  green  protein  found  in  a  jelly  fish  deep  in  the  ocean  that  firstborn  enabled  scientists  to  further  their  hypothesis  that  adult  stem  cells  may  have  the  same  pluripotent  capablenesses  as  embryonic  stem  cells.  By  isolating  the  DNA  of  the  fluorescent  protein  and  then  injecting  that  same  genetic  code  into  adult  stem  cells  in  a  laboratory  setting,  they  could  follow  their  trafficking  tendencies  by  seeing  which  elements  of  the  body  were  lit  up  with  fluorescent  coloring.</p>
<p>In  one  such  study,  highly  purified  bone  marrow  stem  cells  were  genetically  modified  to  construct  this  fluorescent  protein.  The  mice&#8217;s  stem  cells  were  then  killed  off  through  irradiation  and  genetically  modified  stem  cells  were  transplanted  into  their  bone  marrow,  leaving  only  the  fluorescent  bone  marrow  stem  cells  as  the  sole  source  of  available  stem  cells.  Cardiac  arrest  was  subsequently  triggered  in  the  mice  by  coronary  artery  occlusion.  In  less  than  two  weeks  time,  the  engrafted  fluorescent  stem  cells  had  travelled  through  the  bloodstream  to  the  heart  muscle  and  differentiated  into  cardiac  muscle  and  endothelial  cells  which  contributed  to  the  formation  of  functional  cardiac  tissue,  as  well  as  new  blood  vessels.</p>
<p>Further  studies  revealed  that  adult  stem  cells  could  cross  the  blood-brain  barrier  and  then  distinguish  into  brain  cells.  The  writers  of  the  study  wrote,  &#8220;Our  results  distinctly  show  that  adult  stem  cells  from  the  marrow  may  gain  access  to  the  adult  brain  and  assume  characteristics  of  central  nervous  scheme  neurons.&#8221;</p>
<p>Based  on  selective information  gathered  by  respective  scientific  teams,  Dr.  Gitte  Jensen  not so long ago  proposed  the  Stem  Cell  Theory  of  Healing,  Regeneration  and  Repair.  This  breakthrough  theory  proposes  that  bone  marrow  stem  cells  migrate  from  the  bone  marrow  and  travel  allround  the  body,  providing  for  healing  and  regeneration  of  damaged  organs  for the duration of  the  entire  lifetime  of  an  individual.</p>

Within  60  minutes  of  consumption,  a  25  to  30%  increase  in  adult  stem  cells  was  measured.  This  translates  to  approximately  3.5  million  further and added  circulating  stem  cells.  This  study  confirmed  that  StemEnhance  efficaciously  supported  the  release  of  stem  cells  from  the  bone  marrow. <p>Section One deals with the theories of aging and ends by delving into the various body systems that are affected by the aging process.</p>
<p>Section Two goes into the endocrine system. Entire chapters are devoted to growth hormone, melatonin, oestrogen, testosterone and thyroid hormone. The authors give us the facts on how these hormones affect or are affected by the aging process. Supplementation is mentioned, but the authors made no attempt to &#8220;sell&#8221; anything.</p>
<p>Section Three deals with nutritional supplements. The list is quite exhaustive and make a very good reference for anyone considering supplementation. Here again, the reviews are quite balanced. No &#8220;miracle&#8221; nutrients and contraindications are mentioned as well.</p>
<p>Section Four deals with lifestyle factors in anti-aging. Topics include diet, detox, exercises, anti-stress tips, skin care and protection from pollutants. A lot of unsurprising, unsensational yet sound advice here.</p>
<p>Section Five gives us insight into what some health gurus do to stay fit and healthy. It won&#8217;t be easy for any of us holding a fulltime job in the city to follow. There is also mention of stem cell research and other cool stuff that will be coming our way soon.</p>
<p>Section Six provides a glossary and some references as well as a directory of anti-aging resources.</p>
<p>The greatest thing about this book, is that it is &#8220;scientifically&#8221; written by 2 doctors who live up to their professional training. Aimed only at informing and educating the reader, it provides nothing sensationally pro this or anti that. If you can only afford one book on this topic, buy this one.</span></p>
