If you’re not intimate with the whole culture surrounding tea, then you’re in all likelihood unfamiliar with the term, “blooming art tea”. It’s a gorgeous neat conception and is something that may amaze your party guests of all ages. You’ll never grow tired of serving blooming teas.

Most likely, it was the Chinese that came up with the idea of a flowering or a blooming tea because the flowers applied in these teas are ordinarily found in China and shipped around the world.

So What is a Blooming Art Tea?

A flowering or blooming tea is precisely as it sounds. It is a bundle of dried flowers and tea leaves that exaggerate and “bloom” in the hot water in your personal teapot. When the bundle blooms, it looks like a little bouquet. For this reason, it’s good to have a glass teapot whereby the blooming may be “experienced” in real time right at the table you’re sitting at. The amount of size divergence of the finished bloom may be five or six times that of the dried flowering tea ball. It takes when it comes to 5 minutes to bloom.

The flowers applied in flowering blooms include jasmine, chrysanthemum, amaranth, hibiscus, lily and osmanthus. They smell outstanding and lend a little aromatherapy to the tea party. Flowering teas don’t get bitter even even though they may steep for extended periods of time. (Remember, the intermediate green tea only steeps for 5 minutes.) The mild flavor of the flowers neutralizes any bitter taste of the steeped green or black infusions.

How are Flowering Blooms Made?

There’s a special art to the making of flowering teas. They are hand sewn by women in tea gardens far away from civilization in the southwestern Yunnan province of China. This area is near Laos and Vietnam. The types of tea leaves in general employed in flowering teas are white, green and black. While the leaves are still somewhat wet, it’s easy to flatten them and sew them together into a bundle. Each one is handcrafted and galore may take up to 10 minutes to craft. Some are sewed together in long garlands that may look utterly pretty in the teapot.

Making Artisan Teas Part of Your Memories

Blooming teas actually is worthy of their own glass teapot. You may buy blooming tea sets that include a blooming tea pot, hand painted little cups and assorted blooms.

Blooming teas make magnificent gifts! You may continually add water to the teapot, increasing the steeping time to get more flavor with each cup of tea. The aroma smells best when you drink the basi cup.

One way to present a blooming tea at your party is to give everyone their own big glass with a wide base. This will concede the tea ball to completely bloom. Imagine a party where every one has their own flowering tea with a wholly dissimilar flower, aroma and taste. It’s the foundation for one of the most unforgettable tea parties your friends will ever experience; guaranteed!

The tea ball, right out of the package, looks like a funny colored nut with the scent of tea and jasemin. Place it in the bottom of a tea cup or tea pot (the best show happens in an all glass one), and add hot, but not boiling water, sit back and watch. It’s amazing to see it open up into a beautiful bouquet. The green leaves are the tea (green scented with jasmin) and the flower are one a 12 different selections. As one person said to me, “tea flowers make you sit and relax in a go-go-go world.” I would recomend this to anyone who loves tea.

R. Bowers
We got this for my mom and she really likes it. While the tea flowers vary in presentation, they are all “Green Tea with Fresh Jasmine.” It would have been nice to mix up the flavor of the tea. I would recommend this more for presentation than flavor.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful.
Title is a little misrepresentative
By Laura Smith
Assorted Green Tea Flowers should be called Assorted Jasmine Green Tea Flowers. It’s the blooms that are assorted not the tea flavor. They are all Jasmine. Having said that, it’s a wonderful surprise when you put in the bud and don’t know what kind of flower you’re going to be getting next!

Usually when I buy Jasmine Tea I get the finest- A small 4 ounce bag that runs me $20 and although this tea isn’t as good as what I regularly buy it’s still very nice tasting. The best part is that it’s practically impossible to overbrew. Jasmine Tea in particular can get really bitter easily if it is overbrewed even a bit and I was afraid I would have to take the flower out after a couple of minutes to stop the brewing process. But NO! The makers thought ahead and made it so that you can leave the flower in and it won’t overbrew. The only bad thing about this is that if you like your Jasmine Tea really strong then you won’t like the way this works for you. But strong Jasmine Tea is always bitter so you might want to try a lighter brew like this.
Hint: If you never liked the way Jasmine Tea tasted because of it’s bitterness here’s a trick. Standard instructions for Jasmine include having your water at around 180 degrees and brewing for aprox 2 minutes. Instead of this, try using a lower temperature instead- say 130ish and brew for 7 minutes. What you’ll get is a tea with all the Jasmine and none of the bitterness. With these flowers however you don’t have to worry about brewing time (unless you like your tea VERY weak) and are free to enjoy the flower until your tea is gone.

This is the conventional way of making tea in the Australian Outback. The drover with his herd of sheep or the itinerant shearer with his swag would have to drink water wherever he could find it. Tea is a good way to drink the water and the billycan reduces tea making to sheer simplicity.

The billy itself is plainly a kind of metal cooking pot with a lid and a bucket handle that goes on the fire. The water is boiled and tea made all in the same pot. For a family choose one of 1 to 2 litres, but for a larger gathering you need a billy of perchance 10 litres or more. It will soon be blackened and sooty on the outside but clean and shiny inside, which adds to the authenticity.

When you travel with your swag in the Outback you don’t carry fresh milk. It is established to flavour billy tea with tinned sweetened condensed milk, but the flavour is not one every one likes. You will need:

Strong black tea (any kind, fresh if possible)

Billycan of suitable size

Water (clean and fresh if possible)

Campfire, and someplace to put the billy

Tin mugs (250 ml or larger)

Gum leaf (optional)

Milk, sugar or condensed milk, as available.

How to go in regards to it:

Fill the billycan with water: at least 250 ml per person.

Cover with lid and put on the fire to boil.

When the water boils, take off the fire by lifting the handle with a stick and remove lid. Be careful – everything is very hot.

Sprinkle tea on top of water: a handful for a family billy, various handfuls for a huge one.

Drop in the gum leaf for it is distinctive flavour (optional).

Wait. After with regards to 5 minutes the tea leaves will all of a sudden drop to the bottom. Tapping the side of the billy with a stick may help (at least a heap of people do it!).

Pour cautiously into tin mugs leaving tea leaves in the bottom of the billy.

Flavour with milk, sugar or condensed milk if liked.

The tea is strong, inspiring and a astoundingly good flavour. An Australian bush barbeque would unquestionably not be the same without billy tea. It goes exceptionally well with damper [http://www.abc.net.au/goulburnmurray/stories/s1150827.htm] and jam or golden syrup, but that is another story!

A gum leaf means a young, green leaf of a eucalypt tree. These are available in a astoundingly big number of places outside Australia, but it is very much an acquired taste.

Tradition is that the dregs of the tea from cups and billy are poured into the fire to help put it out before leaving the camp.

G’day!

Tea is a product of leaves from the camellia sinensis plant where it is cured in a potpourri of dissimilar methods. What most persons are intimate with is loose leaf tea or organic black tea which is made with boiling water to make a delicious hot beverage. Tea is the second most consumed beverage behind water in the world and a lot of persons take delight in drinking it warm or iced and cold. There are a good deal of types of tea and the most mutual ones are white, black, green, oolong and blooming teas. Even though the dissimilar varieties all come from the same plant, the methods and the parts of the plant in curing them are dissimilar giving them all a dissimilar taste and aroma. The other popular kind of tea is an herbal one which has no caffeine and is made from leaves, flowers, fruits and herbs and does not have any constituents of the camellia sinensis plant in it.

The Yunnan Province of China is known as the birthplace of tea where persons living in this area came across that eating the leaves from the tea plant and also brewing it with water could taste good and be rather pleasant. China is also proud to assert that they have the world’s oldest tea tree which is said to be 3,200 years old. Green tea is one of the bestloved mixes that come from china and has been said to have wellness gains as well as helps to curb an appetite.

There are a heap of interesting myths surrounding the get started of drinking or consuming tea leaves. One is based on Shennong or (Divine Farmer) who was the Emperor of China as well as the inventor of agriculture and Chinese medicine. One myth states that he was drinking a bowl of water in 2737 B.C. when galore leaves from a nearby plant blew into his bowl altering the color. He tried it and came upon it had a pleasant taste. Another myth was that he often was testing dissimilar herbs and plants for their medicinal effects and most times the herbs he tried were poisonous. He would then drink boiled water with tea leaves to counteract the poison he had ingested.

In other countries and cultures tea was consumed for dissimilar reasons. In India, for example, it was mainly used as a type of medicine. It was initial cited to be employed as a medicine in 500 B.C. In fact so much tea was consumed in India that it was the leading country of tea consumption for 100 years until it was passed by China in the 21st century.

In Japan, tea was in the first place consumed as religious classes in the country when dissimilar priests were sent to China to learn respective things when it comes to their culture. Britain likewise became buyers of tea early on and it is highly consumed today still. It was in the first place a drink only considered for the aristocratic classes but now is widely consumed in the afternoons with milk and sugar for a good deal of residents living in Great Britain.

Ever have a book come across your desk that leaves you in awe? This is what happened when The Story of Tea landed in my mailbox. What first catches your eye is the crisp clean design of the book and its cover. A sturdy book that has a sensual soothing feel. If the eyes are the gateway to the stomach, then this book was one that would make me want to drink tea. And I have never been a tea or coffee drinker, so this is an important point.

So I sat and ran my hand over the book and looked at the zen style teapot pouring a hot serving of tea, in the cover photo. Then I opened the book and an hour later when the sun had begun to set and I realized I needed to turn on a light, I realized how mesmerized I had become. To the point I reread areas because I was on the path to becoming a tea lover.

The photos are stunning and informative, which is rare in most books. I was intrigued about all the various cultures where tea is not only drunk, but used as an ingredient in medicine, cooking and baking. The Life of a Tea Bush one reads of the different types of tea bushes, their needs be it water, deeply rich soil, mountains or valleys. On page 51 one learns of the 8 elements of tea productions.

On page 257 one begins to read the encyclopedia of teas, from White, Yellow, Green, Oolong, Black, Pu-erh, Scented, Artisan, Presentation, or Display Tea. And then Brewing The Perfect Cup. No tea bags here thankfully. Then Storing tea, the best water, temperatures etc.

Tea Customs and Culture covers China, Japan, Europe, and other countries like north Africa and Arabia, teapots and cups, as well as Wagashi or what is called sweets that one can serve with various teas.

Like tea itself, this book is soothing and nice. And would make a GREAT gift for anyone who loves history, food, is a teacup or teapot collector, is living in a cabin or on Park Avenue. Have homeschooling friends and family whom I have and will recommend the book to.

Suzuki
I would have so wished to love this book. I am a tea lover and tea is one of my passions. The wonderful pictures looked promising, so did the index and the chapter outline. However, information were repeated over and over again, at some times I felt the authors are rambling on and on without making a point. Often they talk about their tea store, their experiences while traveling, how there are other “bad” tea stores, who do not know anything about tea. A more appropriate title would have been “OUR story of tea”.

I would have wished, the authors would have explained better the different steps how the different white, oolongs, black, green and pu-err teas are made. The authors only mentioned the order of how the tea leaves are processed, no explanation for the whys, except “to make the tea more mellow, greener …”. This would have been a great chance to explain a bit about the chemistry, that is going on there.

Although, the context and lay out was so promising, the overall read ended up to be boring and disappointing. With too much repeated information on one side and too little at others, plus the never-ending passages without much point. The fascinating ways of tea with its drinking traditions and production and cultural evolution got lost under all the rambling and was burdened with too many words.

Parfitt
As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a beautiful book to page through. And it’s pretty clear, I think, that the authors are real experts on their subject. I was going to buy it from Amazon on the strength of the other reviews here, but frankly I’m glad I borrowed it from the library instead. The writing is really quite poor throughout, and much as I found the subject interesting, I found it tedious to untangle one ill-constructed sentence after another as I made my arduous way through the book. The writers don’t seem to be quite sure of who their audience is, or what tone is appropriate for this sort of book. At times, it reads like a textbook; at others, like a reflective essay. But it never reads very smoothly. A thoroughly revised new edition would be nice!

The tea pot as art form. Clear borosilicate glass allows you to be grateful for the depth of color of your tea as the leaves gently unfurl in the center column. When you’ve achieved the desired strength push the plunger down and steeping is arrested.

ReviewWho knows more regarding tea than the British? When the British Tea Council asked Bodum to formulate a new way of brewing tea, the result was this distinctive press that’s almost as much fun to look at as it is to use. Simply fill the strainer with tea leaves and add boiling water–a slow process, but well worth the time. (You could also use tea bags, but why would you want to?) The clear jug lets you see the tea as it’s steeping, permitting you to custommake it is strength to your taste. When the tea is strong enough, tardily depress the plunger to stop the brewing. You won’t have any tea leaves to read at the bottom of your cup, but there’s no mess and no need to remove the strainer before you pour. But be forewarned: the Bodum press doesn’t retain heat rather as well as a established teapot, so you might want to use a tea snug if you’re not drinking the whole pot in one sitting. It’s a shame to cover up such a pretty design, but that’s the way the tea leaf tumbles. –Mary Park

Peasley
I bought this with the bodum tea warmer (the electic one they sell here) and use it every morning at work. It is WONDERFUL, as I can brew up tea or just have hot water on hand for teabags or my chai tea mixes. There’s a hot water tap at work from the coffee maker, so it’s simple to fill up. If I had this at home, I’d get a 4-cup pyrex cup so I could microwave that much water at once.

CLEANING:
You use a scrub brush every few days if needed. One of those yellow sponges with green scrubbies on them. The infuster does NOT hold on to flavor unless you are simply not washing it. The infuser is plastic, so if you don’t actually wash it off but just run water over it, yes it will retain odor/taste. You have to have a semi abrasive action to take off whatever hangs around. Really not an issue if you aren’t a completely lazy bum. Takes me about 30 seconds to run a scrubby sponge around the inside and outside and I only need to do that if I’ve left it sitting around for hours on end with strong tea leaves inside.

The plunger does NOT get stuck unless you are a complete weakling or have a defective product. There’s suction at work once you’ve pushed it all the way down, so of course it won’t glide up smoothly with a light tug. I probably use more strength opening a jar of jam than I do lifting the plunger.

Combine this with the warmer and you’ve a GREAT product. You can have tea on hand for hours and sip your mornings away.

They also sell a 2 cup and a 6 cup model. Judge how much you might drink and then pick the one that suits you best. I sometimes wish I had the 6 cup one instead, as I find that if I have that much tea on hand at my desk, it’s very easy to drink and suddenly find it all gone without thinking about it. I love it.

It is easy to clean and easy to see the strength of the tea brewing. In the time it takes to heat the water, you can fill the basket with your favorite loose tea, take your cup and saucer from the cabinet and put some cookies on a plate. And did I say how easy it is to clean? I take my tea leaves and feed my plants with them, then I simply rinse and wash the parts.

52 of 54 people found the following review helpful.
Buy the right tea!
By A
I love this tea press. In fact I have a large one for company and a small one when it is just the two of us. The previous reviewer said that there were tea leaves everywhere but I think she was probably not using tea leaves but processed tea which is very small and look almost like coffee grounds. So you do need to take care that you buy the right kind of tea which is pretty easy when you know what to look for. I have had mine for a year now and have never had a problem.

As for the care of this it is easy to clean and pretty sturdy. I recommend it to anyone who likes tea.

Enjoy!

The surroundings of Taiwan is idealisti for growing tea. Many of varietals grown in Taiwan came from China just like ancestors of most Taiwan residents have. Some varietals adjust well and turn out to be ordinary and others gradually disappear. In the following article, I will briefly describe numerous of standard tea varietals in Taiwan.

Qingxin Oolong

Qingxin Oolong is the most wide propagating and oldest varietal in the tea history of Taiwan. Depending on locatings of tea plantations, Qingxin Oolong grow differently. In the low altitude plantations, the leaves are thinner. In contrast, the tea leaves are thicker when planted in higher altitudes.

Qingxin Oolong tea trees are comparatively weak and less productive. The varietal is largely hand picked rather of machines due to potential damaging effects from machines. Teas made of Qingxin Oolong come with distinguishable varietal fragrance enjoyed by a lot of drinkers. Popularity makes the teas more pricey than other varietals.

Jinxuan Varietal (Milk Oolong)

Jinxuan is also known as Taiwan Tea # 12 amongst Taiwan local tea lovers. It is a new varietal produced by researchers in Taiwan around 1985. It is largely grown at plantations located beneath 1600 meters above sea level.

Jinxuan tea trees are generative and solid. Most of the jinxuan trees planted at high altitude mountain areas are hand-picked to manufacture primary grade milk oolong. It is likewise perfective to be harvested by machines without being damaged. It may be applied to develop a potpourri of teas including Pouching tea, Baihao Oolong, Tikuanyin and Jinxuan oolong.

Cuiyu Varietal (Jade Oolong)

Similar to Jinxuan tea, Cuiyu is a new varietal invented by researchers in Taiwan. Both varietals were declared around 1985. It is likewise known as Taiwan Tea # 13. Cuiyu is for the most part found at low altitude plantations.

Cuiyu is similar to Jinxuan in terms of productivity and solidness. They both are perfective for machine harvesting. Jade oolong tea is oolong tea made with Cuiyu varietal. The tea gives off a jasmine fragrance with rich flavor.

Sijichun Varietal (Four Season Oolong)

Sijichun is a new varietal that appeared in the Taiwan tea market around 1990. Unlike Jinxuan and Cuiyu, the varietal was without intention found on a plantation by local farmers in Muzha. Sijichun in Chinese means evergreen, which reflects the characteristic of the varietal solid, fast growing and productive. Mingjian tea region in Taiwan is presently the biggest region that grows this type of tea leaves.

Tikuanyin Varietal

Tikuanyin varietal adjusts poorly to new environments and grows slowly. Muzha and Shimen are two major regions that grow tikuanyin varietals in Taiwan.

The procedure of making tikuanyin is much more elaborated and takes longer than making others. Tikuanyin tea may be made with varientals like jinxuan and tikuanyins. However, only the tea that is made with tikuanyins varietal entitles zhengcong tikuanyin.

Baimaohou Varietal

Baimaohou in a literal sense means “white fur monkey” in Chinese. The Oriental Beauty oolong tea made from this varietal has a dense amount of white buds on it; accordingly the meaning white fur monkey. Baimaohou varietal is exceedingly fixed in amount causing tea from the varietal to be very rare and expensive.

Damanzhong Varietal

Damanzhong in a literal sense means “extremely slow” in Chinese. It is not difficult to guess that the varietal actually grows fabulously slow as it is Chinese name reflects. Similar to baimaohou, Oriental Beauty oolong tea made from the varietal likewise carries a outstanding amount of white buds. This varietal is principally devoted to developing original grade Oriental Beauty oolong.

Reap The Benefits Of Oolong Tea With Six Summits

Vintage Wuyi Oolong is from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian, where mists, clouds and distinctive soil conditions invent teas of particular character. Hand plucked leaves are conservatively sorted, permitted to oxidize partially, and skillfully fired to make this golden, amber-color brew. Wuyi Oolong has a bold, long-lasting flavor and an inviting aroma. Each tea’s distinguishable reputation is produced by a distinctive combining of climate, altitudes, and soil conditions. Wuyi oolong will make a smooth, rounded cup with a more or less toasty fragrance and long lingered sweetness.

The tea is amber color, with a very nice taste and delicious sweet aftertaste. When you prepare it right, you won’t get the bitterness, ususally associated with black tea.

Oolong tea is widely drunk in Fujian China, and Japan. And it becomes more and more popular all around the China. Oolong has so many different other names: Wu-Lung, Wu-long. It is really the same thing, just different pronunciation from different parts of China (Mandarin, Taiwanese, or Cantonese). The premium oolong can be extremely expensive, most for its fragrance, color, sweetness (where to grow or when to pick). It can cost over $200 for just 1 oz (you won’t see them out of China though). But if you are really for its healthy benefit, this is an excellent tea.

I usually prepare two cups per tea bags. Here is how I prepare in office (use hot water from hot water in water machine):

First cup: steep the tea bag with in first cup for 2-3 min and save the tea bag (pull it out of water or take it out).

Second cup: you may steep the tea bag as long as you wish. The bitterness is completely gone from the second cup, only the sweetness lingered, with a hint like the sweetness licorie.

For iced oolong tea: I just prepare one cup of oolong tea with 5-7 min steeping time and add ice cube.

I usually use this oolong tea bags in office, so you don’t make mess, at home, I have been drinking Wuyi Oolong (Wu Long) Tea loose tea(B000A2KJ7M). Just simply add 1 pinch into cup and add boiling water, or prepare it with a tea pot for the whole family. It is excellent every cup!

I have been drinking oolong tea at least 4-6 cups per day during the past holiday season, with meal or anytime I want to eat snack… To my delight, the pant size is drop one whole size!

The package is a beautiful blue box with a legend story about tea on the back of the package..

Of course, I haven’t been — I’ve been on and off one or another, then back again.

I don’t believe any tea is a wonder cure for everything, but I find tea helpful in managing my appetite, my stress levels, and outlook on life. I drink this Oolong tea, really enjoy it, and suspect it helps me feel less hungry in the midafternoon.

I’ve heard it’s rich in anti-oxidants, and promotes the burning of fat. It may well be. I’ve lost bodyfat and weight — but, again, I believe the result are due to a combination of factors that includes regular exercise, counting calories, and taking time to for a deep breath and a warm cuppa.

Not grassy like other Teas and has a nutty taste in the background. I enjoy the taste. I drink mostly Green Tea and added this Oolong tea to have more options. I haven’t been drinking it long enough to know if it helps with weight loss, but it is very tasty. According to research has antioxident values and that is a great benefit added to a great tasting Tea. ENJOY!!!
